Hunters of the Forgotten Force Guild (2)

Atlas wasted no time–the attack must be swift and brutal.

He rushed forward, activating the "Energy Dash", closing the distance, and at the same time used the "Tactical evasion" to anticipate the attacks of the opponents.

Eyron wasted no time in attacking as well, his blade flashing with a crimson aura as he struck at the nearest enemy.

The PCashers did not expect such pressure.

The first opponent, a warrior with a hammer, tried to deliver a powerful blow, but missed when Atlas leaned aside at the last moment and slashed at his leg with a dagger, forcing him to lose his balance.

The air beast took advantage of the moment and hit Pkasher with a "Discharge Wave", paralyzing him for a second. That was enough–Atlas plunged his dagger right into the enemy's neck!

[Critical Hit!]

[Enemy defeated!]

[Gained 460 experience!]

The remaining PCasher, seeing that he was left alone against two, abruptly backed away.

–Wait! Stop! Stop it! – he shouted, throwing down his weapon.

Atlas took a step forward, holding a bloody dagger.

–Who sent you?

PCasher swallowed, looked back at the crumbling particles of his partner and squeezed out:

–We... we got the contract. The Hunters of the Forgotten Force Guild.

Atlas frowned, and Eyron snorted.

Another order from Ulrich.

Atlas looked at him:

–The head of your former guild?

Eyron nodded, crossing his arms over his chest.

And he obviously wants to get rid of me.

– Why?

– It's a long story. He turned to PCasher. –Now get lost before I change my mind.

PCasher nodded and left the game without looking back.

Now that the fight was over, Atlas could finally get the answers.

–Tell me. Who is this Ulrich and why is he following you?

Eyron sighed: –In short, I know too much.

He looked at Atlas:

– Let's go to a quiet place, I'll explain in more detail…

***

Now Atlas had to decide whether to trust this player.

– I was once a member of this guild, and I was Ulrich's errand boy. His kind of "Doberman" who decides all the cases for him. I wanted to have my own opinion, so I left there to develop alone... and it looks like Ulrich harbored a grudge against me, now I want to help you so that this Guild doesn't take away a unique item from you to complete one of the Unique Quests, no one has passed the "Eye That Saw the End" yet, not even Ulrich and his gang failed... so they're looking for newcomers who are lucky enough to find unique items like the "Seeker's Medallion" or the "Eye of Silence."

– What happens to unique items if the quest fails? – Atlas asked in surprise.

– These are disposable items, and if you don't fail, then your luck decreases, and then it's harder for you to find a unique artifact or it's no longer there at all.…

Atlas listened carefully to Eyron, gradually putting together all the details.

– So the Hunters of the Forgotten Force are just using players who have rare artifacts?

Eyron nodded,

–They don't just use it. If you don't join their ranks, they either steal an item from you or simply eliminate it.

– And if you join?

–Then you work for Ulrich and follow his orders. To the point that you give your unique finds to the guild.

Atlas thought about it. So they knew about the "Eye of Silence" and the "Message of the Fugitives." Perhaps they even understood their value.

–You said they couldn't complete the quest in the Southern Mountains?

–Yes. Their party had reached a certain point, but had reached an impasse. Either they didn't have enough level, or... something else. The game itself gave them checkmate in this game.

Eyron crossed his arms.

–And now they're looking for people like you. Newbies who have a chance. And if this chance appears, they take it away.

Atlas twirled the dagger in his hands as he considered the situation. It was now obvious that the "Hunters of the Forgotten Force" would sooner or later try to recruit or attack him.

–What do you suggest?

–I'll help you. –Eyron smiled. – But in return, I will have one request.

Atlas narrowed his eyes.

–Which one?

–When you go to the Southern Mountains, take me with you.

It was unexpected.

– Do you want to complete this quest?

–I want to know what they found there.

Eyron chuckled:

– And, perhaps, to take revenge on Ulrich.

Atlas nodded:

–Okay, but I'm not going to reveal all the details of my quests... yet.

Eyron smiled, as if he had expected such an answer.

– No problem. Everyone has their own secrets. The main thing is not to let Ulrich get ahead of us.

They exchanged contacts. Now, when Atlas reaches level 20 and can go to the Southern Mountains, he will already have an ally.

– By the way, if you want to develop further, you can join my team. Eyron suggested. – We are not a guild, we will just be a small group, helping each other, carrying out raids and searching for rare artifacts.

Atlas thought about it. A group could give him support in difficult battles, but on the other hand, he is used to working alone.

–A team? – Atlas asked.

Eyron grinned and shook his head,

–No, I'm working alone. – After I left Hunters for the Forgotten Force, I don't have time for commands. But sometimes it's still better not to be alone, especially when former "comrades" start hunting you.

He stared at Atlas.

– That's why I suggest: let's keep in touch. If you need help, call me. If I have any information that might be useful to you, I'll let you know.

– Okay, that's settled. – Atlas nodded and added Eyron to the list of his group. Atlas now had one green game name, Eyron.

– Great. – Eyron grinned contentedly: – If anything, call me. Of course, I don't like working in a group, but I can't take it out alone against an entire guild.

He adjusted his shoulder pad and looked around the street.

–By the way, be careful. The Hunters won't leave you alone, since Ulrich is interested in your quest. So expect an ambush at the most inopportune moment.

– I'll keep it in mind. – Atlas thought about it. He knew that now the "Hunters of the Forgotten Power" would be watching him, and there was no need to relax.

Eyron waved his hand.

– Okay, I'll go into the shadows for now. I need to solve a couple of my problems. If anything, get in touch.

With that, he quit the game.

Atlas wasted no time and headed for the eastern gate of the Dra'myr. If he was being followed, it was better to find out now, while he was still in the city, rather than in some remote location.

As soon as he left the busy streets, he moved to a side path leading to a small gorge. There were several hidden places where you could hide and watch.

[Threat Response skill activated (level 2)]

Atlas felt a strange tension in the air. Someone was nearby.

He quickly climbed a small hill and hid among the thick bushes, waiting for someone to come out on the trail.

He quickly climbed a small hill and hid among the thick bushes, waiting for someone to come out on the trail.

A few minutes later, two players in dark-colored raincoats appeared. One was holding a dagger, the other a short bow. Both looked like experienced fighters.

–Are you sure he's going to go through that exit? – The archer asked.

–Yes. We received orders to keep an eye on him, but not to attack. For now.

Atlas frowned. Obviously, these were the people of the "Hunters of the Forgotten Force."
