Carl was in his room—his eyes wide open as he decided to leave the bed already.
Last night many things happened. He revealed that Caleb and Cecily were alive and all of it was to reveal the culprit.
He was expecting some reaction from Victoria, but her expression remained indifferent all the way until Carl was in her arms, and the lady began weeping.
'This family is quite straightforward, eh...conspiring against each other means nothing but death.' Human emotions are complex and something Carl has recently started to understand.
However, he could tell that the Ravenshade family was definitely quite different from other humans in the emotional aspect.
Those cold eyes Lady Victoria possessed when she stabbed her brother, reminded Carl of his past life where every human used to live for their greed without a speck of compassion.
The reason her brother committed this, was that the Patriarch was considering the younger son to inherit his throne just because the older one showed his reluctance to become the next head.
He wanted his blood-related nephew to inherit the throne and all…but in reality, Aron had a different goal in mind, because of which he kidnapped the little girl.
He would have sold her to the church.
*Scruff*
Slowly pushing away the covers he got up and found his mother sleeping with her head on the bed and her mouth slightly parted.
The golden-haired lady was quite in a disheveled state.
Carlisle slowly got off the bed and approached the mirror which was across from the bed
The room belonged to him, however, the size of it could have easily accommodated four to five people's beds.
Standing before the mirror, he could see a small eleven-year-old boy with big red eyes that seemed to be glowing. Disheveled black hair that had curly ends and covered his forehead.
"Carlisle Ravenshade." The guy would die at some point after joining the academy because he became the reason for one of the heroine's parents' deaths.
Many things connect the protagonist with Carlisle, including Shelly; that's why Carl decided to change the plotline to save himself from needless antagonism.
"This world…is filled with different kinds of dangers…" Unlike in his past life when he received orders from his superiors, and blindly rushed to the battlefield, here things are different.
He has no superior…at least, from what his memories serve his parents aren't like those who relay orders.
Here, Ed can do anything with his life. He can choose any path he wants, and forget everything about the plot and the world which the doctor created.
'…but that won't stop this world from meeting its doom…' The protagonist, in the end, does win against the Demon Lord, however, to reach that goal, he ends up sacrificing many things—including three of the five leading clans of the human race.
Ed might survive…however, what concerned Ed was the last volume.
The Doctor clearly said that there was another volume….which means there was something far more dangerous and devastating waiting for the protagonist. After all, one volume of slice of life wouldn't have worked…more so, when all the heroines were dead by the final battle.
'What it could be…'
"C-Carl…"
Hearing the voice, Carl turned to look at the woman. There were tears in her eyes that made him sigh, "Why are you crying again?" Didn't she cry a lot last night and things got settled there?
"Don't blame meeeeee....my baby was taken away from me." Anastasia pulled him in her arms and began crying again.
Carlisle exhaled an audible breath as he patted her head, "There, there."

Soon the whole family gathered in the reception area, surrounding Carlisle.
There were two medics who were sweating profusely while they checked on Carlisle.
One with equipment and one with magic.
Carlisle narrowed his eyes as he saw the man using his fingers to assess his nerves.
'Magic....they use it so fluently....' Magic was a word that Ed only heard in rumors in his last life.
However, in this world, everyone has magic. They can use it, albeit on different levels.
Humans have the least amount of magic, that's why they cannot influence their surroundings but just use it to enhance themselves.
Like how the medic was coating his magic around his fingers and resonating it with Carlisle's magic.
He didn't have a clear idea of how it works, however, it seems emotions affect one's magic frequency.
The doctor is checking if the trauma is affecting Carlisle's magic frequency.
But since Carlisle wasn't affected at all, he seemed,
"He seems fine." The doctor spoke as he wiped his forehead with the handkerchief.
Victor had his hands crossed over his chest as he asked, "Aren't you in a rush? Check properly."
"Y-Yes." The doctor stiffened before giving a bow and brought his hand back on Carlisle.
"I am really fine. Is this necessary?" Carlisle sighed, he was getting tired.
"You two can go now." Without asking anyone, Carlisle told the two docs before getting off the seat.
The head of the house worryingly said, "But son, you were kidnapped."
Carlisle shook his head, "Those two just kept me there. Nothing more than that. Caleb and Cecily never had the intention to do anything to me."
Everyone exchanged a glance before Victor asked, "You seem different since yesterday, that's why we are worried."
Carlisle suddenly remembered that, indeed, the original owner of the body was somehow bratty and someone who whined a lot.
By now, he would have demanded whatnot from his father for whatever he went through. He might as well have demanded to be left in his room alone, just to appear pitiful.
However, even if he tried to, he couldn't have acted that way.
As such, he weaved a lie,
"I...have learned a few things yesterday." With his gaze drawn downward, he added, "Although they never wanted to harm me...I still felt helpless. It made me realize that despite being a member of such a strong family, even my life could be in danger...and unless I change myself, become strong, I might not be lucky the next time."
Anastasia's eyes turned red, as she was about to step forward and comfort her kid.
However, before she could have moved, Victoria held her hand and shook her head.
Not only did Victoria but the other two also understand that, despite the method being unpleasant, Carlisle understood a very crucial thing about life.
Glancing at the others once, he told them, "I will go and rest in my room."
