Chapter 8

As the evening fell, rain continued to sprinkle from the sky.

As Dashiell drove back to Clearwater Bay from the cemetery, a figure suddenly darted out from a corner, forcing his car to a stop.

"Dashiell."

Lavender stood in front of the car. She wasn't carrying an umbrella, and her rain-soaked dress clung to her slender frame, making her appear even more fragile.

In the past, Dashiell would have rushed to embrace her, his heart aching at the sight. But now, he felt nothing. He even glanced at her with a hint of disgust, his words cold and heartless.

"If you want to die, do it somewhere else."

Lavender's face grew even paler. She had thought that after Serenity's death, she would rightfully become Mrs. Winters.

But since Serenity passed away, Dashiell not only ignored her completely but also kicked her out of the company.

She didn't understand what she had done wrong; they used to be so in love.

"If dying would make you remember me forever, then I'd gladly die."
