For the sake of a woman, I nearly lost half my life!
With a fever that wouldn't break, I drifted in and out of consciousness, feeling hopeless as death crept ever closer.
Until the plastic sheet covering my body was lifted, and a woman's shriek jolted me awake.
"There's a corpse... No wait! You're alive?!"
My savior turned out to be my high school classmate, Faye.
Back then, she had entered an elite private school as a top student and even tutored me at my house.
After graduation and starting college, I hadn't seen her since, only knowing she was one of the many students my parents had supported financially.
Faye indeed recognized me, tears bursting from her eyes with emotion: "Nash? You're actually alive! Thank God!"
Disregarding the filth, she meticulously cleaned the garbage off my body, her hands shaking as she saw the blood-soaked bandages.
"What happened?! How did you end up like this... Uncle Channing and Aunt Cora would be heartbroken if they knew..."
Thinking of my parents whom I hadn't seen in three years, I couldn't help but tear up as well.
Faye tried to call an ambulance for me, but was stopped by the landfill workers.
"No way! He can't leave! We have to wait for the lady boss to give the word before he can go! Otherwise, we're all screwed!" Faye exclaimed furiously, "Can't you see he's covered in wounds and running a fever?! If he dies, none of you will get away with it!"
The workers were scared, but they still stubbornly grappled with Faye.
Lavender strutted over in her high heels, carrying an insulated food container. The workers instantly saw her as their savior, pointing at Faye and tattling to her.
She narrowed her eyes, a smile still on her face, but her voice turned cold, "Darling, this woman looks familiar. Who is she? Your ex-girlfriend?"
Of course, Lavender knew Faye; we were all classmates. She was just putting on an act in front of me now.
She didn't know I had regained my memories.
Faye glared at her defiantly, "Lavender, what are you playing at?! Nash is your fiancé, how can you treat him like this? Why won't you let them take him to the hospital? He's running a high fever, don't you know that?!"
"What?! He's getting fever again?"
Hearing this, Lavender's expression changed slightly, and she immediately rushed over to feel my forehead.
The sweet scent of her perfume wafted over, instantly pulling my memories back to the past.I once hand-crafted a perfume for Lavender. She was overjoyed, hugging and kissing me, as happy as a little white kitten.
She said, "Darling, you're so wonderful! I'll always wear this special perfume, I promise to marinate myself in the scent you love from head to toe!"
But later! Lavender, wearing this very scent, fled our wedding without hesitation and threw herself into Blaine's arms! She French kissed him right in front of me!
Even though my hatred was so intense it nearly tore me apart, I couldn't bring myself to do anything to Lavender at that moment.
But when Lavender saw me, she panicked and got into Blaine's car, knocking me off the bridge. Because of that, I lost my memory and couldn't return home for a whole three years!
Now, she dares to touch me while still wearing that scent...
I closed my eyes, nearly vomiting, desperately wanting to kick Lavender into the nearby dumpster and let her rot and stink!
Lavender didn't notice my revulsion. She playfully smacked me, and I let out a muffled cry of pain. I heard her grumble:
