Chapter 4

Blaine also apologized, his face filled with anguish: "I never imagined Nash would go to such lengths for me... He's my brother for life!"

The two of them sang each other's praises, making me want to vomit blood.

Do they really think I'm an idiot?!

My parents' eyes were red with tears. Mom collapsed by the bedside, crying: "How could you be so foolish! If you wanted to save someone, you could have found a kidney donor. Why did you have to donate your own kidney? Don't you know your body is a gift from your parents?"

Dad lowered his voice: "And what happened to his leg?!"

Lavender's guilty gaze fell on me, stammering without being able to form words.

Sitting in his wheelchair, Blaine's face was flushed as lies poured from his mouth:

"Nash was in a car accident... Lavender and I happened to be there and saved his life. The doctor said there's hope for his leg to recover, but it's very slim."

He looked at me apologetically, his act as convincing as it could be.

I couldn't take it anymore. Enough was enough!

I comfortingly patted my mom's back, glaring daggers at the lying couple in front of me, gritting my teeth in a cold smile.

"Dad, Mom, I didn't donate my kidney voluntarily. I was tricked!" Lavender's eyes widened in disbelief, her exquisite gaze meeting my mocking stare. Blaine's face was contorted with terror, his expression slightly twisted.

I continued, "And that's not all! These legs of mine? Lavender ran me over with her car!"

Lavender kept shaking her head, her face a picture of innocence:

"Nash, what are you talking about? Are you delirious from a fever? ... I'll go call a doctor for you..."

"Cut the act, Lavender!"

My gaze was cold as I stripped away Lavender's hypocritical mask, word by word.

"I remembered everything the moment you dumped me in that junkyard!"

Lavender's first reaction wasn't fear, but genuine joy: "Really?! That's wonderful! Once you've recovered, we can get married!"

Even now, did she seriously think I would marry her?

Before I could speak, my mom stood up, fuming: "What marriage?! I've been wanting to say this – you ran away from the wedding back then, humiliating Nash in front of everyone. How dare you show your face around him now!"

Lavender bit her lip, not daring to argue with my mom. Instead, she stomped her foot and looked at me, half reproachful and half coy:

"Nash! Quick, explain things to your mom for me!" When you lost your memory, I was always there taking good care of you. We've even exchanged engagement rings already!"

As she spoke, she wiggled the diamond ring on her left ring finger.

I glanced at Blaine beside me, whose eyes had darkened, and smirked sarcastically.

Back when I couldn't remember anything, I thought Lavender truly loved me despite my disability. So after she proposed, I bought a ring for her too.

But as soon as Lavender put on my ring in front of me, she tossed it aside and replaced it with the engagement ring Blaine gave her.

I still remember overhearing her say to Blaine:

"If it weren't for this engagement, I'd really want to marry you..."

Blaine was still sick. Hearing that, he gave her a fragile smile and said, "Don't be silly. The doctor says I don't have much longer to live with this chronic illness..."

Lavender was deeply moved. She said she wanted to have Blaine's child, so that even if he really died one day, he would have an heir.

Hearing their intimate panting, my heart felt like it was being cut by a knife. I started wheeling myself to go tear up that so-called prenuptial agreement, but Lavender caught me.

Then she ran out of the room naked and pushed me down the stairs from the second floor...
