wish part 3

Friend, are you actually smart but pretending to be dumb in front of me, or what?" David asked Odd, who had just returned to his seat after finishing his explanation.

"What do you mean I'm pretending to be dumb?" Odd grumbled at David's words. "It's just that your tiny brain can't comprehend my high level of intelligence." Odd mocked David.

"I take back what I said. You're actually just an idiot." David said with a helpless smile.

Odd was about to respond, but suddenly, he felt dizzy.

"Damn it, don't tell me I'm going to faint again." Odd struggled with a sharp headache. However, his condition was slightly better than yesterday. He felt like he still had a bit of endurance left, so he raised his hand and asked, "Excuse me, Mr. Carter, may I go to the restroom?"

Mr. Carter looked at Odd with questioning eyes. This boy had really piqued his curiosity. "And what exactly are you going to do in the restroom?"

"I'm going to take a dump."

"..."

The entire classroom fell silent for several seconds.

At the moment, Odd wasn't able to think straight, so when Mr. Carter asked him, he came up with an excuse without thinking it through.

"...Fine, you can go." Mr. Carter said. He had asked the question casually but hadn't expected such a bold response from Odd.

"Hahaha, this guy is funny." The purple-haired girl thought to herself, smiling silently.

Odd quickly left the classroom and rushed to the public restroom. He found the men's bathroom, entered one of the stalls, and locked the door.

"Blargh...! Blargh...!"

Odd started vomiting into the toilet, as if he had just emptied out his entire dinner from last night.

After a lot of vomiting and taking deep breaths to stabilize himself, he finally began to calm down, and his body relaxed more than before.

"Hahh... Hahh..."

"Damn, that was really painful. Am I going to suffer like this every time I make a wish?" Odd thought, breathing heavily.

This is what he initially thought, but he began to realize that it might be something entirely different.

"Could it be that this power operates by absorbing my Synchro?"

Odd had heard something like this today in Mr. Carter's class—when someone loses a certain amount of their Synchro, they usually feel an emptiness in their chest, dizziness, or might even lose consciousness.

Even ordinary people have Synchro; they just can't use it without completing the "Soul Synchronization with the Sky" process. Only then can they officially become Synchro Soldiers.

"The first time, I wished to increase my height and lost consciousness. The second time, I wished to gain knowledge from nothing and felt dizzy. That means not all wishes consume the same amount of Synchro energy. Most likely, the further or more impossible the wish, the greater the Synchro energy required." Odd analyzed the mechanics of his wish-granting ability.

Suddenly, a thought struck him—a thought that made his eyes shine with hope.

"If I can wish for anything as long as I have enough Synchro… does that mean I can return to my world if I become strong enough?"

Odd was filled with hope and determination. He stepped out of the restroom and looked at himself in the mirror above the sink. He clenched his fist, and in his eyes, he made a firm resolution.

March 14, 3022 — 7:40 AM

"Hmm, the weather is nice today." Odd was on his way to Silo Academy, gazing at the sky with newfound optimism. Ever since he found hope for returning to his world, he had become more energetic and motivated.

More than two weeks had passed since Odd was transported to this world.

During these past two weeks, he had worked to learn and uncover more about this world, and the academy and wish-granting power had helped him achieve that.

He had discovered many new things—things that were common knowledge to others but completely foreign to him.

One of the most important discoveries was about Synchro Soldiers' strength levels, which determine a person's overall power. These levels are:

Beginner

Master

King

Emperor

Odd, at the moment, was just an ordinary human who couldn't use Synchro freely. The Beginner level marked the start of a warrior's journey toward supernatural power, while the Emperor level represented the peak of unimaginable strength.

Becoming an Emperor was the ultimate dream for many, yet it was far from easy. Some people live their entire lives without even reaching the Master level, let alone Emperor.

The Nine Emperors were the first to reach this level, which is why they earned their title. Even so, the strongest Emperor was nothing compared to even the weakest Higher Being. Nevertheless, they were considered the pinnacle of the world.

Of course, other individuals had reached the Emperor level after the original nine, such as Grand Liberty, Hammer Bearer Amargo, The Brutal Assassin Asensio, and Heavenly Soul Tian Ling.

As for the Freedom Alliance and the Forbidden Zones—where hostile non-human species resided—no one knew whether they had Emperors or how many, except for those in the highest positions of the Royal Empire.

Odd's Research on the Wish-Granting Power

Besides gathering information about the world, Odd also investigated the nature of his wish-granting power.

From what he knew so far, no one else seemed to possess such an ability, which made him feel somewhat special.

However, he also noticed that this power had rules.

Wishes had to be both simple and precise.

For example, when Odd wished for water from the next room, he expected a glass or a bottle, but instead, only the water appeared—and splashed onto him.

He couldn't manipulate emotions.

One day, he wished for a certain girl to fall in love with him. When he approached her, she only looked at him with disgust and ignored him.

From this, he gained two things: a broken heart and the realization that he couldn't force someone to feel a certain way, at least not love.

He couldn't wish for death.

Once, Odd wished for a cockroach in his house to die.

The cockroach did not die.

Since he felt no Synchro drain, he concluded that wishing for death was impossible—meaning reviving the dead was likely impossible as well.

In short, he realized that complex wishes, emotions, death, or resurrection were beyond the limits of his power.

But then, another thought occurred to him: What if the limitations weren't in the ability itself, but in him?

After all, wishes were something beyond human comprehension—a force that even the Higher Beings might struggle to understand.

So, instead of feeling frustrated, he accepted these limitations. After all, a power that could grant wishes was anything but weak.

Yet, one question remained on his mind: Could he use a wish to return to his world?

The Experiment

A few days ago, when he was home alone and Aunt Tia was out, Odd decided to test whether he could wish himself back to his original world.

What he got was instant unconsciousness and a severe nosebleed.

But when he woke up and treated himself, he wasn't disheartened. In fact, he was thrilled.

Why?

Because this meant returning home was possible.

If he felt pain, then it was a sign that it could happen—he just wasn't strong enough yet.

It didn't matter how much he had to suffer. It didn't matter how long it took.

One way or another, he would make it back.
