Third-Year Training Arena – Silo Academy
Each academic year had its own designated training arena, and today, this particular arena belonged to Class 3-B.
Inside the massive dome-shaped training ground, students were dressed in black athletic uniforms with blue stripes, the standard attire of the academy. The only exception was their instructor, Carter, who stood directly in front of them.
"As you all know, in order to become Synchro Soldiers, you must complete the Soul Synchronization process with the sky. This process cannot occur without sharpening your combat and spiritual senses. That is why today, we will have a practical training session. Each student will choose a training partner. You may take weapons from the storage on the right," Instructor Carter announced before stepping to the left side of the dome.
The students moved toward the storage area to collect their weapons. The academy's weapons were ordinary, without any special abilities. Students were not allowed to wield GR Weapons until after graduation or during the "Recruitment Battle," a grand competition held among all academies for graduating students. This battle was designed to identify exceptional talents, offering them the opportunity to join prestigious universities specializing in Synchro studies or enlist in Emperor Lazarus's Royal Army.
"Odd, why are you taking a dagger? Aren't you skilled with a sword?" David asked in confusion, glancing at Odd.
"Oh, right... I forgot," Odd muttered, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead. He quickly returned the dagger and picked up a sword instead.
"That was close... I just thought the dagger looked cooler, so I grabbed it. I need to be more careful in the future," Odd thought to himself. He had no memories of the original owner of this body, which meant he didn't know its unique traits. He also had no intention of wasting his Wish Power recklessly.
"You've been acting weird these past few days. I'm pretty sure you even got taller for a moment and then went back to normal," David said, still puzzled by Odd's behavior.
"What? Of course not. You're just imagining things. You probably thought I was taller because you're short," Odd retorted with a smirk, trying to change the subject. Previously, he had used his wish to revert his height to its original state to avoid suspicion. However, he now realized that the sudden change might have made him even more suspicious.
"Laugh all you want. Anyway, it looks like we're partners again, as usual," David said as they exited the storage area. He noticed that the other students had already started sparring. "Come on, let's hurry up—they've already begun."
"Excuse me, may I join you?"
A soft, melodious voice suddenly came from the side.
Odd and David turned toward the source of the voice.
Standing before them was a stunning girl with long violet hair, sky-blue eyes, and elegant lashes. She smiled at them with an angelic expression.
The entire training ground fell silent.
"What the hell? Why is Scarlet talking to those two?"
"Isn't that the guy who answered the teacher's question a few weeks ago? Could it be that Scarlet is interested in him?"
"Why is Scarlet talking to those losers instead of me? Damn it!"
The murmurs of the students filled the arena—some were shocked, others jealous.
"Scarlet?" Odd thought to himself. I've heard that name before.
Then, he remembered.
According to what he had heard, this was Servo Scarlet, one of the most famous students in Silo Academy. Not only was she an exceptionally talented and hardworking student—ranking third in the theoretical exam and second in the practical exam—but she was also the daughter of the headmaster of Silo Academy.
Additionally, she was an official Synchro Soldier who had reached the Beginner Rank in her first year at the academy, whereas most students in the Warrior Division didn't even reach that level by graduation.
Even in this class, out of 400 students, only 30 had reached this rank. Some first-year classes didn't even have a single Beginner-ranked soldier.
"H-Hello… My name is… my name is David… I-Is there something I can help you with?" David stammered, standing stiff as a statue, experiencing an unprecedented level of nervousness as he looked at Scarlet.
Despite being known as a flirt, he had never actually interacted with a girl this closely. And none of them were as breathtaking as Scarlet.
Scarlet chuckled softly at David's embarrassment. "Relax, I'm not going to bite you or anything."
Then, she turned toward Odd with a smile. "Can I join you for training?"
The entire class was left speechless.
Why would one of the most famous students in the academy want to train with an ordinary commoner?
At that moment, many were envious of Odd—including David, who was now glaring at him with a terrifying expression.
"What does this mean? Do you have some kind of secret connection with her that I don't know about?" David whispered angrily. The famous and beautiful Servo Scarlet had come over to talk, only to reveal that she was interested in Odd instead of him. How could he not be upset?
"Oh, don't worry, there's no connection between us whatsoever," Scarlet replied nonchalantly.
David and Odd were both startled by her sharp hearing. This was proof that she was a true Synchro Soldier.
Odd initially didn't want to train with her to avoid unnecessary trouble. But after thinking about it, training with a real Synchro Soldier could help him improve much faster. And considering the attention he had already drawn from this conversation, trouble was inevitable anyway—so why not take advantage of the opportunity?
"Alright, why not?" Odd agreed, shocking David.
"Great! Let's go to that empty spot—it seems more suitable for training," Scarlet said before walking toward the area.
"I can't believe you abandoned me for a girl you don't even know. Do you really value our friendship so little?" David grumbled.
"Stop acting like a child. It's just for today. Go find another partner—I know you can," Odd replied dismissively before following Scarlet.
"Damn it… Now I'm all alone," David muttered with a sigh. "Isn't there anyone else to train with?"
"Excuse me, would you like to train with me?" A mysterious voice spoke beside him…

March 14, 11:50 AM
Odd stood face-to-face with Scarlet.
She unsheathed her sword—just like Odd, she seemed to specialize in swordsmanship.
"Can I ask you something before we start training?" Odd asked.
"Of course, ask anything," Scarlet replied.
I have to admit, I'm a little surprised by how friendly she is. I expected her to be an arrogant noble girl, but she's the complete opposite. Odd thought before asking, "Why did you choose to train with me?"
"Hmm, why?" Scarlet tapped her chin, then smiled at Odd. "It's a secret. How about we make a deal? If you can block 10 of my attacks, I'll tell you why."
Odd was intrigued by her challenge, but he had no reason to refuse. "Alright, let's do it."
He unsheathed his sword and prepared to defend.
Scarlet glanced at him and chuckled. "Your stance is a bit odd… like a child learning how to walk."
"You could say it's my unique style," Odd replied, though in reality, he had no idea what the proper stance should be.
"Alright then, here I come," Scarlet said.
She closed her eyes for a moment—then suddenly snapped them open.
BOOM! BOOM!
In an instant, Scarlet vanished from Odd's sight.
"What the—?! That speed… That's not human!" Odd's heart pounded as he frantically tried to locate her.
BOOM!
Suddenly, Scarlet reappeared right behind him.
Odd tried to turn around, but before he could even react, he felt the cold edge of Scarlet's sword press against his neck.
"Looks like I win," Scarlet said with a smile before pulling back her sword.
"What was that?! Is this the power of a Synchro Soldier?! That was terrifying… They really aren't human," Odd thought, overwhelmed by the massive gap between them. He hadn't even gotten the chance to make a move.
"You lost this time, but I might give you more chances in the future," Scarlet said.
"...Of course," Odd responded, realizing that she intended to train with him again.
Although he didn't fully understand why she was interested in him, he decided to accept it.
