A woman who changes her heart cannot be kept.
When I burned everything I had, working hard for both families, even leaning more towards the Winters family, Melody was remaining chaste for another man.
I increased the salary of the private investigator, keeping a close eye on Melody and Alec. I needed more evidence, and arranged for someone to go home, turn everything upside down, and find the drugs Melody had been giving me, sending them to a lab for analysis.
The drugs were sent in the morning, and the test results were in my hands by the afternoon.
Melody had not only drugged me, but also added something else that would cause me to have low sperm count or no sperm at all.
This woman was truly vicious. She was so afraid of getting pregnant with my child that she planned to make me sterile.
"Honey, don't forget, we're having dinner at my parents' tonight."
After our marriage, no matter how busy I was, I always squeezed out time every week to accompany Melody back to her family for dinner.
To avoid alerting her, I didn't confront her, but simply said okay.
When we arrived at the Winters family home, I found that my parents were also there. They happened to have free time today and came over for the family gathering.
Mrs. Winters asked Melody if she was pregnant yet.
For the past year, we had been trying to conceive, and both sets of parents were quite concerned about it. Melody shook her head and said no.
Mrs. Winters said, "If it's not working, you should see a doctor at the hospital, or we could have a doctor come to the house."
They hadn't done any tests before due to concerns about saving face.
I laughed coldly to myself. Melody had drugged me, so the chances of her getting pregnant were slim to none.
"Brother-in-law, why are you such a failure? It's been so long, and my sister's belly still hasn't shown any signs," Melody's brother Isaiah said with a sneer.
My parents looked uncomfortable, but they felt guilty and said they would find ways to improve my health.
Melody quickly scolded Isaiah, telling him to show me more respect.
"Brother-in-law, you're too busy. You've worn yourself out. Why don't you give the management rights of our family business back?" Isaiah said to me with a smile.
"Sure, I'll arrange it right away," I answered without hesitation.
Did they really think I wanted to deal with the Winters family's mess? If Melody wasn't my darling, I wouldn't be doing this thankless job.
Before long, Melody and I would have nothing to do with each other. It's better to get rid of this burden early, so Isaiah won't think I'm greedy for his family's money. He probably thinks running a company is a piece of cake.
Moreover, this wasn't just Isaiah's opinion; it was the stance of the entire Winters family. When Isaiah insulted me just now, my father-in-law and mother-in-law didn't utter a word. Their position was crystal clear without them having to say anything.
