Melody's face showed a hint of unease. "Honey, why did you agree so quickly?"
I smiled. "Isaiah's grown up. It's time to return him to his rightful place. I'm tired too. I need to take care of my health and maybe have a sweetheart of my own."
Melody smiled sweetly, unaware that I had already quietly made plans to leave.
In the following days, I acted as if nothing was wrong. I secretly underwent a full medical examination. The doctor told me I had suffered severe damage and it was highly unlikely I could have children.
Melody's cruelty exceeded my imagination.
The private investigator was very efficient. I gathered more and more evidence: dates in high-end restaurants, rendezvous in five-star hotels. There were photos and videos of everything.
I couldn't help but smirk coldly. I had been deceived so badly.
While Melody was rejuvenated by love like a young girl, I was swamped dealing with the affairs of two companies. Sometimes I was so busy I couldn't even eat, developing stomach problems that required medication.
Melody and the Winters family had treated me like a tool, never once caring about me.
I felt no sadness. The moment I learned of Melody's betrayal, she was dead to me. I was even somewhat grateful it allowed me to see her true face so early. Delving into the details, I had no real feelings for Melody before our marriage. After tying the knot, however, I fell into the tender trap she set, willingly giving my all.
A man should create a haven for his woman, and that's exactly what I did. I succeeded, or so I thought, only to find my home full of holes, cleaned out by a thief.
I attended a business dinner and, by chance, ran into Melody and Alec as they exited a private room with a group of people.
Seeing me, Melody's face changed. She quickly approached, saying, "Honey, what a coincidence! I'm here for a class reunion."
I nodded slightly. Alec trailed behind Melody, throwing me a challenging look, thinking I hadn't noticed.
"This is Alec, my classmate. He always looked out for me in school," Melody introduced him to me.
Back then, Melody only mentioned being hurt by an ex-boyfriend, never naming him. She had no idea I knew everything.
I said to Alec, "Thank you for taking care of her."
Not just in school, but now too, it seems.
"Mr. Shaw is a busy man, so Melody's been spending more time with us, her old classmates. I hope Mr. Shaw doesn't mind." Of course I wouldn't mind. Once I realized Melody was a slut, she wasn't worth my attention anymore.
