Chapter 2: What will your choice be?

(First Person POV - MC)

"When you mentioned systems, are you referring to the ones reincarnators receive as cheats?" I asked, feeling a surge of excitement.

"Yes, but that's not the full picture. As I said, all systems are under our administration. This includes systems that span entire worlds and, in some cases, even entire galaxies, allowing inhabitants to acquire levels or skills based on the specific setup established by the administrator of that realm." With a confident and slightly proud demeanor, Gandalf continued his sales pitch.

Staring at Gandalf, my excitement grew as my mind pondered, 'So, something like the gods from Kumoko's world but in a higher setting? Hmmm, well, it isn't bad. This might be better than running around saving people left and right.'

After a few seconds of pondering and trying to rein down my excitement, I asked Gandalf something that randomly popped into my mind, "If that's the case, can you tell me what's up with those slave-type systems? Also, if every system is managed, what's up with those systems that seem to lack sentience?"

My question made Gandalf smile before his gaze went towards the western guy.

"Ahem. First, let me introduce myself. I'm Jonathan, one of the System Administrators assigned to your home planet." Jonathan said this with a salesman's smile.

Before I could question him about my former world having a System Administrator assigned to it, he continued to explain, "Yes, your world is a supernatural one; you just haven't been exposed to it. Your former world was quite special, as it is considered a prime world. This means it has the ability to create other worlds through beliefs. So, yes, the popular anime shows you enjoy are real."

"The One Piece is real!" I exclaimed humorously with a giggle.

With a shake of his head, Jonathan smiled as he continued speaking, "There's a reason why I'm explaining this to you, but let me first address your question. You asked why some systems turn their hosts into slave laborers, but some are seemingly not sentient, right? Long story short, humans are lazy and lustful. Especially those goddamned Otakus."

"Do they seriously believe they are some chosen ones because they got reincarnated?

No, that is definitely not the fucking case.

We, the System Administrators, request the Reincarnated Helpers Official to send reincarnators to help fix a flawed world.

They reincarnated not because of luck but because they are needed to do stuff for us.

But those motherfuckers refuse to do what should be done and only pursue waifus from left and right.

Do they expect to live a second life without paying a price? Nuh-uh bud, nothing's free.

It's not like we are asking them to do shit for the rest of their lives.

It's just until the end of the plot or at least the end of the major shit that is bound to happen.

They were reincarnated to help fix worlds and not fuck every moving thing god dammit!

Sigh.....

Anyway, that's the origin of the slave life systems.

Administrators simply got tired of reincarnators bullshit, turning them into efficient helpers." Jonathan said in a fit of outburst.

With a short pause to regain his bearing, Jonathan sighed before saying, "Sorry to show something unsightly. Just having some ptsd bout some stupid hosts I used to handle."

"It's fine. Seems like being a System Administrator is a tough job, huh?" I said, looking at Jonathan, who now looked like a tired, underpaid salaryman from Japanese anime.

Letting out another sigh, Jonathan waved his hand and continued speaking, "About the so-called 'Non-Sentient Sytems', such things do not simply exist."

Shrugging his shoulders, he added, "Because the reincarnators we request to get sent to the worlds we handle are cultured people who know things from fictional works, some administrators pretend the system isn't sentient by not interacting with their host. So yeah, that's the gist of things. It all just comes down to how the particular Admin runs things."

"I see. That does sound like a reasonable trade. You get revived to an anime world in exchange for slave labor- well, at least till the end of the plot or something.

I see, so that's what's going on behind the backs of the isekai setting." With a couple of nods, my random thoughts were satisfied with the realistic answer.

With a grandfatherly tone, Gandalf spoke after our eyes (even though I don't have them anymore) met, "So lad, what is your answer? Would you want to be the one running around in another world to finish objectives for us, or do you want to be one of us? I don't think you would choose to reincarnate normally as another pure soul, or would you?"

"Nah, no chance I'm going to get my soul wiped to reincarnate as another random dude. While I am not adverse to running around for you guys as another isekai protagonist, I feel like being an administrator would suit me better. But first, I want to know what perks I will get if I choose to do so and how long will I work for the organization? The reincarnators are just in for the plot, right? This isn't some shady company that will make me work forever, or is it?" With a methaporical grin, I question the old man.

With a hearty laugh, Gandalf replied, "Of course not, young lad. You see Jonathan right here? This is his final job. To teach you the basics if you ever choose to join us."

Gazing at Jonathan, he only responded with a smile and a nod.

As I returned my gaze to Gandlf, he continued, "As for the period, it usually takes a millennia (1000 years). Well, there are exceptions, but those exceptions are willingly extending their stay; we are not keeping them by force."

In my mind, I wanted to retort, saying, 'That's what all the ones keeping people by force say', but I smartly kept my mouth shut and continued to listen.

"For the perks, let's say everything is merit-based. I will not get into the specifics as it's too complicated, and it would be in the manual later, but long story short, you have two options.

First, you retire in a personalized world of your choice. Before you go in, you are basically God and can freely edit this particular world using the merits you will earn as a System Administrator. Again, the specifics will be in the manual you will receive later. This is what almost everyone does.

Second, while this rarely happens, if you accumulate an ungodly amount of merit, you can use it to promote your life status. Long story short, you will be an outer God. I believe you already understand what that means.

So, young lad, what will your choice be?" Gandalf said with a grandfatherly smile.

Authors Note:

About the release schedule, for now, it will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 0:00 (12 am) GMT+8.

Unless shit happens that will be the usual release for now as I'm having troubles writing.

Need to get used to it again so I can do at least 5 times or more, but I need to be motivated for that, so gimme stones.

Or at least comment on the chapter.

Any feedback would be nice.

Get me motivated so I continue to write.

I dropped my two fics because of lack of motivation, and barely anyone wants to read them anyway.
