Even though Ursa just had gained a lot from the system, he was still a normal teenager who didn't even know how to fight a few moments ago, so he knew that this stealth ability wouldn't help him a lot once he was discovered. That was why he took a cautious approach here, waiting until the two men disappeared from his eyesight before closing down the bar and starting to make a move too.
After all, it would be too suspicious for a bar to get closed at such an early night just right after the two customers left.
Fortunately, his first customer who ordered chicken wings and beers had already left, so Ursa had no problem closing down his bar. He left the dishes under the sink before moving quickly, not wanting to lose those two men's tracks. Fortunately, the two mysterious men moved at a slow pace, which made it easier for him to get close to them and at least hear a tidbit of their conversation.
"…Yer Hasan to suspect us?"
"… Worry! Even if he suspects us, there is…"
"… Would never expect he will be betrayed by…"
Ursa widened his eyes in shock at what he just heard, trying his best to hold back his breath even though he knew he could do it so quietly right now. Even if they said it in a whisper and while walking too, at least he could catch some of the important things there.
'…Yer Hasan? Lawyer Hasan? Is he who they are talking about? The best lawyer in the city and one of the best in this country who always fights against corrupt higher-ups days and nights? The one the media called the thorn to the evil? If so, what are they going to do? Betrayal and he would never expect the betrayer? Does that mean one of those two is lawyer Hasan's acquaintance? Or do they have someone planted next to Lawyer Hasan? Damn! They always say any name in a lower whisper, making it impossible to listen. I need to get closer here.'
Deciding to be bolder, Ursa narrowed the distance between him and those two, trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. Unfortunately, they didn't change any pleasantry anymore, and it would be a lie if he said he wasn't disappointed. Sometimes, he hoped that criminals worked like in a movie, monologuing their intention and crime process proudly in the middle of the road while waiting for someone to pick them up accidentally. Unfortunately, reality was cruel, so here he was, having to take a distance once again to make himself less suspicious.
As the night grew later, the busy street that had been full of workers just half an hour ago fell silent again. The once lively sound of chatter and footsteps from the workers who just left the office faded away, leaving behind a peaceful quiet. Only the occasional rush of a car broke the stillness, but since the area was far from downtown, very few cars passed by.
This kind of silence only made Ursa tense as he kept avoiding the streetlights that flickered softly on the road. He didn't want to get busted by the long shadow cast by it since there were not a lot of people passing by at this time, and it would be too obvious for those two that they were followed if they noticed the constant presence of his shadow.
After fifteen minutes of walking, those two men finally turned around to enter a small, dark alley, and in that situation, Ursa heightened his senses instantly. He didn't know if those two entered the alley because that was the road to their destination or if they were trying to lure him out to that kind of place to do something about their stalker. Fortunately, he worried too much, since it seemed that this alley was their original destination.
"Come on, change your clothes!" One of them said to another, this time with no whisper.
"Are you sure it is wise to speak louder? What if someone overheard our conversation?" The other man asked, worried.
"Bah! I have lived here for a long time, and I tell you, there are no people who are willing to go to this dark alley! Trust me, no one will overhear us here." The first man just waved his hand nonchalantly.
Ursa sighed in relief as he heard that. He was glad that those criminals still shared something in common with the villains he often read in stories; they were very good – or terrible – at jinxing themselves like this.
Fortunately, this alley was pretty dark, so although there were not a lot of places for him to hide, as long he could stay quiet, those two men would never notice his presence. He just had to make sure he didn't step on branches or something that could create even a small noise and expose himself like an idiot in the movie.
"Come on, wear this properly. It is the green badge, okay? Don't get it wrong!"
"I get it, I get it! Do you think I am that idiot?!"
Ursa frowned when he saw the new attires those two wore. It was the police uniform with the green badge worn on the left arm, indicating that they were from the logistics department. Their task was to bring back any illegal things that got confiscated by the others from the criminal department, so it was not strange for them to appear on the road with the biggest and strangest thing in the world. Hell, he even saw in the news a few years ago that one of them brought back a human body kit since the criminal used it as a way to transport real human organs they sold illegally.
Well, back to the two mysterious men in front of him, Ursa had to admit that they were clever. By using the badge that only the logistic police would wear, they could just go with anything and everyone wouldn't bat their eyes on them. However, this disguise only strengthened Ursa's idea that they did something illegal here.
'I wonder what are they doing here.'
He didn't have to wait for too long, though, since the first man suddenly disappeared into one of the buildings there for a moment just to come back with a massive wooden box that was about two-thirds of his height, and when he heard the sound of something – or someone – hitting it from inside it, Ursa had a bad feeling about this.
'Okay, now, this is getting ridiculous. If I am not wrong, this is bigger than I initially thought.'
Oh, how Ursa hated to be proven right on this point, especially after he saw one of the men open the box forcefully, just to reveal a beautiful little girl with curly, blonde hair and a face like a porcelain doll was gagged there, the trace of tears could be seen on the corner of his eyes.
"Oh, don't worry, Young Missy. As long as your papa decides to drop the case against our boss, I am sure you will be alright. But before that, you will have to accompany us, okay?"
