The phone line went silent when they heard my voice.
"Miss Winters, don't you usually prefer to travel low-key? Why this time...?"
I glanced up at my ex-boyfriend, then spoke coldly.
"When a person is too low-key, it's easy for others to take advantage of them."
As soon as I finished speaking, my assistant immediately grasped the meaning behind my words.
"Understood! I'll take care of it right away!"
A few seconds later, the assistant nervously spoke up.
"Miss Winters, business class is now fully booked. Would first class be acceptable?"
I waved my hand dismissively.
"It's all the same to me. Just handle it as you see fit."
As I said this, I suddenly remembered something else and changed the subject.
"Oh, and have the airport staff remove a few people. I suspect they might pose a threat to me."
I listed off Scarlett and Alec's names one by one, which the assistant quickly noted down.
After hanging up, I walked back to the waiting area.
Since I'm in the habit of using speakerphone, Scarlett had overheard my conversation and was absolutely thrilled.
With one hand holding my boyfriend's, she used her other to pat me on the shoulder."Melody, I'm starting to think you've lost your mind after being dumped."
"The first-class cabin on this plane is never open to the public. Even I can't charter it, so you definitely don't have a chance."
"I suggest you stop pretending. It'll be really embarrassing if you can't board later."
With that, she burst into laughter.
I slowly raised my head, giving her an icy stare.
"Don't be so hasty. You'll soon find out who really doesn't qualify to be here."
Seeing this, Alec chimed in from the side, not missing a chance to show off in front of Scarlett.
He pulled out two platinum credit cards from his bag, waving them in front of my face.
"See these? These are Air America's platinum credit cards. Most people never even get to see one."
"Miss Stratton here casually flashes two of them. What could you possibly have to compare?"
After saying this, he kissed Scarlett right in front of me, eliciting another round of mockery from the onlookers.
"Know your place" was the phrase I'd heard most today.
Witnessing this scene, I became even more certain of my suspicions.
My boyfriend had been cheating on me for quite some time. For a man like him, I naturally wouldn't spare an ounce of courtesy.
I turned my face away, not even bothering to look at him.
Seeing my cold attitude, Alec's expression immediately changed.
"Melody, what's the deal? You dare to ignore me now, huh?"
I lowered my head, playing with my phone, my tone devoid of any emotion.
"Mr. Grey, didn't you want to break up with me from the start?"
"Now that I agree, why are you the one who's unhappy?"
"I suggest you stop wasting your energy on me, lest your little miss here gets upset."
Alec's face turned green from my retort.
"Fine! You said it yourself. As if anyone gives a damn about you anyway."
With that, he pulled Scarlett into his arms and they started making out right in front of me.
The surrounding employees all raised their phones to take pictures, capturing this beautiful moment.
Only I sat quietly to the side, feeling out of place.
I don't know why, but seeing this scene before me, I felt nothing inside.
In fact, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
Just then, the airport announcement came on.
"Attention passengers, Flight G493 is now boarding. Please line up for ticket inspection."
