Chapter 50: The Potential of Humanity

Chapter 50: The Potential of Humanity

It was not just about submission to a powerful force. As the third eye gradually became visible, the aura surrounding the clone exuded a sense of absolute dominion over humanity—an authority over life and death that had no place in this world. Humanity, the species favored by this world's natural order, should never have a natural enemy. Such an existence should not have been possible unless the world itself was on the brink of destruction.

Setting aside the logical inconsistencies, the situation before Mizuki was spiraling out of control. With no other choice, he braced himself against the overwhelming pressure, extended his right hand, and channeled his chakra.

There was no complexity to his technique—just the purest manifestation of his understanding of Fire Release's nature transformation. A white-blue flame, blazing with extreme heat, consumed the clone in an instant.

"Tsubaki, get back!" Mizuki shouted.

Even though he tried to control the intensity, the immense light and heat were enough to scorch one's skin and blind the unprepared.

As the flames devoured the clone's body, the emerging third eye lost its source of nourishment. Without the necessary support, the eye failed to manifest fully, and within moments, the entire body turned to ashes, scattering into the air.

Only after confirming that the sinister aura had completely dissipated did Mizuki finally cease his technique. Gasping for breath, he slumped to one knee, using his left hand for support, while his right arm trembled violently—completely numb and covered in severe burns, blistered from the extreme heat.

Seeing that the crisis had passed, Tsubaki hurried over, taking out medical supplies to tend to his wounds.

"You're really reckless, Mizuki," she scolded gently, applying ointment to his injuries.

"Thanks," Mizuki said with a hint of exhaustion. He had been too careless this time.

For the past few months, despite conducting various experiments, nothing had ever gone catastrophically wrong. That had lulled him into a false sense of security.

This was a world where extraordinary powers existed. One misstep, and the consequences could be disastrous.

He should have realized that the clones, having undergone extreme genetic stimulation via the universal enhancement serum, already harbored many dormant and dangerous traits. Without a soul, they couldn't refine chakra on their own, meaning these abilities remained inactive.

Yet, by injecting a trace of Cursed Seal chakra, Mizuki had essentially ignited a powder keg.

A body devoid of a soul had no resistance against the foreign chakra's effects. It rapidly consumed every ounce of its biological energy, triggering an uncontrollable surge of power.

The worst part? The clone wasn't just mutating—it was accelerating towards complete cellular breakdown.

In essence, it was similar to the Eighth Gate of the Eight Gates Release Formation, a technique that granted explosive power at the cost of certain death.

From now on, Cursed Seal chakra cannot be injected into soulless clones. Normal individuals, when exposed to it, would eventually reject it due to the incompatibility between the foreign energy and their innate chakra system. But for these empty vessels, it was like triggering a self-destructive transformation.

"Does it still hurt?" Tsubaki asked, carefully wrapping his burned arm in bandages. "You should go to the hospital."

"It's just a surface burn," Mizuki reassured her.

"Don't do anything this dangerous again," she warned, her expression filled with concern.

"Don't worry," Mizuki said, offering a small smile. "I won't be making the same mistake twice."

"As long as you're alright…"

"I'm fine. And, thankfully, so is the house. It would've been terrible if I burned the place down," he joked, attempting to lighten the mood.

After treating his injuries, Mizuki and Tsubaki cleaned up the remnants of the failed experiment, erasing all traces of the fiery destruction. The remaining samples, still showing signs of deterioration, were carefully sealed away.

Perhaps I could repurpose these as one-time-use explosives. Instead of throwing simple Earth and Water Release techniques, I could toss something like a 'Sasuke Bomb' or a 'Naruto Bomb' and watch the chaos unfold.

Returning to the flower shop with his bandaged arm, Mizuki was immediately met with Sakura's surprised expression.

"Mizuki-sensei, what happened to your arm?!"

"An accident while experimenting with jutsu," he replied casually. "This is why you need to be careful when practicing new techniques."

He certainly couldn't admit he had nearly triggered an uncontrollable disaster. As a teacher, he had to maintain at least some credibility.

Still, looking at his injured arm, Mizuki couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated. Fire Release had always been a troublesome nature transformation—slow, chakra-intensive, and often more hazardous to the user than the enemy.

Shaping and controlling fire was notoriously difficult, and without precise control, even a minor miscalculation could lead to self-inflicted burns.

So this is why Fire Release users tend to breathe their flames out rather than channeling them through their hands. No wonder so many of them end up with scorched mouths…

His progress in refining his fire techniques was painfully slow. Until he mastered a more efficient method, he'd have to stick to conventional Fire Release jutsu, focusing on enhancing their power through nature transformation rather than reinventing the wheel.

"Sensei, you're amazing!" Sakura said in admiration. She then handed him a small stack of bills. "This is the money from today's flower sales."

"This much already? Not bad," Mizuki muttered, his mood improving slightly.

As he and Sakura conversed, the shop's door suddenly swung open.

A bespectacled man entered—Ebisu.

"Have you seen Naruto Uzumaki?" he asked immediately. Then, his eyes fell on Mizuki. "Wait, Mizuki? This shop belongs to you?"

"Haven't seen him," Mizuki answered. Then, he noticed something odd. "Wait a second… you're a shadow clone, aren't you?"

"That's right," Ebisu confirmed. "If Naruto isn't here, I'll keep searching."

With that, the clone turned and left.

Sakura, watching him leave, asked curiously, "Mizuki-sensei, who was that? Did Naruto cause trouble again?"

"That was Ebisu. Kakashi asked him to train Naruto for the upcoming exams."

"Kakashi-sensei assigned a teacher for Naruto? Then he must be really strong, right?"

"He's… difficult to describe," Mizuki said, choosing his words carefully. "If I were to fight him in a one-on-one battle, it could go either way. But his real strength lies in teaching. He's an elite instructor, well-known for training Konoha's top young ninjas."

Sakura's eyes lit up with realization.

"Wait… if Naruto and I both win our matches, then I might have to face an even stronger version of him in the next round?" Her voice was filled with both admiration and determination.
