Chapter 35: End of the Conflict

The previous day had been a wild celebration, but the next day, the leadership gathered in the king's chamber.

"Lord Schwartz, thanks to you, we were able to reclaim our country. No matter how much I thank you, it won't be enough, but I want to express my gratitude."

"I merely followed the royal decree. Give your thanks to King Friedrich. More importantly, since our military has achieved its objective, we will now return to our homeland."

"Are you leaving already? Wouldn't it be better to rest for a few days?"

"No, it's better to have foreign troops stationed for as few days as possible. The longer foreign troops stay, the more friction will arise. Our purpose is to deepen friendship with your country, so we should leave while we're still welcome. If we've achieved our objective, we should return immediately."

"I understand. We are very grateful to you."

Victoria shook hands with Schwartz.

"I will ascend the throne and become this country's queen. Philip, conduct internal affairs as prime minister, and Karlsen, assist Philip. If there are other administrative officials, recruit them and rebuild the internal administration."

"Yes!"

"White, I appoint you as Minister of Military Affairs. Control and rebuild the military. Arthur, assist him."

"Yes!"

"There's plenty of work to do. We will rebuild this country."

"Lord Edel."

"I wish to serve you, Victoria."

"Very well, I hereby appoint you as captain of the royal guard."

"I'm honored."

"Lord Schwartz, is this acceptable?"

"Indeed. For now, I will assign Lord Edel as the military attaché stationed in the Land Kingdom. The rest will be decided in consultation with King Friedrich."

"Thank you."

What? When did Edel decide to stay? Oh, Lord Schwartz is smiling. This seems planned. Well, it's fine. Edel might have a chance to advance here.

"Our objectives are all achieved. The entire army will now return to our homeland."

As Schwartz declared this, cheers erupted. They would return home safely, and having achieved their objectives. How could they not be happy?

"Alright, let's prepare to return."

"Understood. We're going home. Let's do our best!"

"That's the spirit!"

A few hours later, the entire army lined up and left the royal castle in order.

It would take 10 days to reach their homeland. And they had more than 10 days worth of food. They could buy some food along the way, so there were absolutely no concerns about provisions.

The route back to their homeland was smooth. They were seen more as a liberation army. Their strict military discipline meant there were no assaults or looting of civilians, so they weren't resented. On the contrary, they purchased necessary items at above-market prices, so they were actually welcomed. As a result, they received a grand welcome in every region during their return journey. Though there were some mixed feelings, they received large amounts of food supplies, and the slight delays in their travel schedule were not a problem.

After more than ten days, the entire army successfully returned to the Burg Kingdom.
