Chapter 34: Invasion of the Land Kingdom 13

The entire army entered the city methodically. After passing through the outer walls of Londium, they entered the urban area.

"As expected of a royal capital, the buildings are quite magnificent." "But there's no one here." "Did everyone run away?" While observing the impressive stone-built streets, the military force advanced towards the inner walls.

"There's absolutely no counterattack." "More importantly, there are no people." "What happened to everyone?" "Maybe everyone fled." "How terrible."

The military force reached the inner walls without any issues. No one was guarding it, so they easily entered the interior.

Inside the inner walls, there were no signs of people, and everyone calmly arrived at the royal castle. "There's really no one here." "It's rather eerie."

They arrived at the royal castle of Londium.

There was no one there either. No people were inside the royal castle, with marble floors and walls, surrounded by majestic bronze statues.

Opening the massive doors revealed the king's chamber.

John the King was sitting alone there. No one else was around. "Not a single person remained loyal to the end?" "How terrible." "I suppose it's just deserts."

The leadership and their guards entered the king's chamber. Victoria slowly stepped forward and stood before King John. "King John, I formally challenge you to avenge my father." "Hmph, I'm finished anyway. A little girl like you thinking big - I'll drag you down with me."

King John slowly descended from his throne, faced Victoria, and drew his sword.

Victoria raised her spear and confronted King John. How many times had she dreamed of this day since losing her parents? How many times had she sworn to take revenge?

"Are you alright? You're still a teenager, right?" "I'm fine. I've thoroughly trained in thrusting and defense. And if anything happens, I have a knife-throwing expert positioned in the rear. And before that, I'll protect her," Edel struck his sword.

Perhaps her concerns were unnecessary. King John seemed confident because he was an adult, but years of unhealthy living had made him quite fat. He didn't appear to have trained in martial skills at all.

He swung his sword and attacked Victoria multiple times, but she dodged them all effortlessly. Soon, King John was out of breath. He was panting while swinging his sword, his entire face drenched in sweat.

Victoria remained calm, using her spear. "This little girl," King John said, swinging his sword wildly in anger. Victoria nimbly jumped back, avoiding the sword. The sword was stuck in the floor and wouldn't come out. King John panicked and tried to pull it out, but no matter how much force he used, the sword wouldn't budge. Victoria firmly stepped on the sword with her right foot and thrust her spear.

The spear pierced King John's gasping mouth and protruded through the back of his neck. King John slowly fell. It was an instant death.

A great cheer erupted. Edel hugged Victoria from behind. Everyone was waving their weapons and cheering.

Victoria knelt and prayed.

The cheers gradually subsided, and finally, no one spoke. In the silence, Victoria whispered. "Father, I have avenged you. Please rest in peace." Then she stood up and declared loudly.

"The evil King John has been punished by Victoria. Let everyone raise a victory cry!" An unprecedented roar of cheers arose. Everyone ran around, clasping their hands in joy.

Edel was crying uncontrollably where no one could see. Stein was doing backflips from happiness. Otto was laughing uproariously watching this. Karlsen and Arthur were hugging each other and crying. Angelle showed a smile while stroking his beard. Philip and White were quietly shedding tears. Schwartz was nodding while looking around.

At this moment, the war ended.

The war is over. There are still 6 days worth of food left. And the fourth unit will arrive soon. This means they'll have 16 days of food. This is enough for the entire army to return. They can return without any problems. I was relieved.

Moreover, this war ended in less than 40 days, including the return journey. This is much shorter than the planned 60 days. They even have surplus food. The 1800 tons of food they thought they'd need was managed with 1200 tons.

Originally, the knights' castle had 1500 tons of food stored. This time, they managed with just that stockpile. Moreover, they have 300 tons left over. Since they won't need to consider war with the Land Kingdom for a while, they can gradually think about the castle's stockpile.

This means they hardly spent any money on this war. That's a good thing.
