Chapter 7: Her background

Micah was the second daughter in the Sue family and a twin. She was pretty, but not as striking as her other sisters. Her mother, Samantha, raised them on her own after a divorce from her husband when Micah was very young. She never knew much about her father. Growing up solely with her mom and sisters, Micah remained distant from relatives who had never offered help when they needed it most. After the divorce, Samantha struggled to support her three daughters and faced significant financial hardships. Despite the challenges, she emphasized the importance of being wise and sharp, given their lack of a father figure. Due to that micah felt bad about herself because of the things her mother would say about her when she is angry lashing out at her and her sisters, she knew it wasn't her mum's fault but because of not having a father who was there to help out.By the age of 15, Micah excelled in her studies and had a passion for singing and reading romance novels. In contrast, her sister Ruby was a fashionista who adored designers, dresses, and the social media life. Micah, however, felt little interest in such things; she was focused on finding true love and figuring out how to help her family financiallyOne day, Micah overheard her mother mentioning an invitation to the Blake family. Ruby was ecstatic because she had heard they were wealthy and had a handsome son. "I can't wait to go!" Ruby exclaimed.

At the Blake mansion, Micah chose a modest brown knee-length dress. She and her mother sat down on a couch when a medium-height woman approached and welcomed them warmly. "It's so nice to see you all," she said. Micah immediately liked the woman. Then she noticed a teenage boy with brown wavy hair and light brown eyes. He was undeniably handsome, with a well-defined chiseled chin. He moved with a majestic confidence that drew everyone's attention. Ruby pinched Micah and whispered, "Can you see that? He's freaking handsome!" Micah couldn't help but agree. However, she also noticed a haughty demeanor in him, which she shook off.

Mrs. Whitney introduced her son, saying, "This is Stefan. Stefan, say hi to the girls." He greeted them but didn't seem particularly interested, which Ruby disliked. "Rude," she muttered, but Micah, undeterred by his attitude, felt her heart race as their eyes met.

During lunch, they became more comfortable with each other, and Micah met Mr. Richard for the first time; he was welcoming and nice towards them, and their youngest daughter Benedict, she was cute and hospitable. She would occasionally visit their house when invited, although such occasions were rare. The Blake family grew fond of the Sues, admiring their discipline attitude modesty, and integrity. At school, Micah often saw Stefan but tried to ignore him. She preferred spending time in the library or chatting with Ruby. Their eldest sister, Julia, was married but remained a supportive presence in their lives. She often called, sending gifts and inviting them out, making time together genuinely enjoyable.

"In Stefan's office at home, he received an update that Micah would be meeting Gina, a friend from church. Just then, his mother called.

You should come to Grandma Shouko's birthday," she said. "Don't tell me you forgot!"

"No, Mum, I didn't forget. I'll attend," Stefan reassured her.

"Don't forget to bring Micah along; your grandma wants to meet her," she added.

"Sure, Mum," Stefan replied before hanging up. He had to prepare for the event.

When Micah arrived home, Stefan informed her about the birthday celebration. "It looks like she will have to make an excuse to your director," he though

Micah considered this as they discussed the arrangement.

It was lunch break when Micah received a text from Stefan. He wrote, "Get off from work early; the whole family is expecting you. I'll pick you up around six."

"Sure," she replied, realizing she needed to make an excuse to the director to leave early. After that, she rushed home, took a shower, and put on her gray floral dress. She styled her black hair and went downstairs. Stefan was already waiting for her, and when he saw her, his gaze lingered. I couldn't read his expression he looked sharp and cool in his suit really handsome.

"You look beautiful," he said, and I blushed.

Let's go," he urged, and we headed outside to his car for the drive to the Blake residence. As we approached, I felt a wave of nerves about meeting his family. The villa was huge and fancy, truly a massive house for the family. Before coming, I had bought a gift for Grandma Shouko.

When we arrived, Whitney and Richard welcomed me with hugs. Mr. Richard was happy to see me, and Whitney embraced me as well. Grandma Shouko wasdelighted to see me, I rarely see since she was sick I presented her her gift and she liked appreciated her She was such a lovely person, and I was glad to see her. Benedict, Stefan's sister, hugged me tightly; we hadn't communicated much since I married Stefan.

The food was ready as we sat down at the large dining table. Stefan sat close to me, and Benedict was beside me. While we were eating, Grandma Shouko suddenly asked, "So, how's the marriage been going? When am I going to see my grandchildrenStefan and I exchanged a glance, and we both answered, "Yes, it's been going well." I blushed upon hearing about a child.

"Don't rush them, it's still early," Whitney interjected.

Stefan added, "Besides, Micah isn't ready yet. Right?" He looked at me, and I blushed, trying to keep my composure.Nonsense!" Grandma Shouko said, stopping her meal. "Why wouldn't you? Has Stefan not… touched you?"

I choked on my water, coughing. "Grandma!" Whitney exclaimed while Stefan affectionately patted my back.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concern in his voice.

"Yeah," I replied, trying to regain my composure. "Don't 'grandma' me," she added, feeling annoyed.

"This topic is sensitive, Mother. Let them figure it out themselves Richard interjected trying to change the topic.

You really want me to die without seeing my grandchildren?" Grandma Shouko said, faking a tear, trying to make them feel deeply sad. But stephan didn't fall for it.

"No, Grandma, that's not what father meant!" Micah quickly replied.

"Then what?" The old lady asked. "It's just that I consider it too early to have a child," she said hesitantly.

Are you sure? Did he brainwash you?" The old lady joked, raising an eyebrow.

"No, Grandma!" She protested, feeling flustered.

You all really want to give me a heart attack!" she exclaimed dramatically.

"Grandma, please don't!" They all chimed in, feeling increasingly worried." it's okay, . If they are not ready, then I won't rush them. Pray God keeps me around until you are ready to give me a grandchild," she added sarcastically. Micah had considered having a child with stephan but did he consider that, she thought.

After we finished eating, I met up with Benedict, who showed me her beautiful carvings and sculptures. She mentioned that she wanted to become a sculptor.

Meanwhile, Stefan was in the pavilion with his father. "I don't know how you pretended back there, but it was really great," Richard said, noting that Grandma Shouko was resting Stefan didn't want his grandma to find out about his marriage he was worried she would, in fact, worry." Since he had objected in marrying Micah.

"You really don't want a child with Micah?" Richard asked, lighting a cigarette. He recalled their last heated arguments.

"I really do not need a child at the moment; I'm too busy with the company," Stefan replied.

"You know I can tell she's the right lady for you," Richard said. "She has all the qualities, and you should cherish her. Just remember, she might appear fragile, but she's really strong," he remarked.Stefan wondered what his father implied. After discussing with his father, Grandma Shouko made sure they took home some ginseng herbs, she was still concerned for them and Micah was touched.

As the couples bid everyone goodbye, Stefan felt annoyed by his grandma's constant questioning about children. He didn't know if Micah was ready, she blushed, recalling the earlier moments of her and Stefan with their children.
