As the classroom door creaked open, all eyes turned toward the entrance. Kai and Yuna stood there, slightly out of breath, their expressions a mix of embarrassment and defiance.
"We're present, Miss , Yuna said quickly.
Miss Lillian crossed her arms over her chest, tilting her head slightly. "And why exactly are you two late?"
Still catching their breath, Kai and Yuna answered at the same time—but with completely different excuses.
Our bus tire burst!" Yuna blurted out.
"Yuna took forever to get dressed!" Kai accused.
They turned to glare at each other, Realizing their stories didn't match. A few students chuckled.
Miss Lillian raised an amused brow. "So let me get this straight… the bus tire burst, and Yuna also took too long to get dressed? Kai, if that's true, why didn't you just come first?"
Kai and Yuna bowed their heads slightly, muttering in unison, "We're sorry, Miss Lillian."
Miss Lillian sighed but gave them a small smile. "Alright, go take your seats. And next time, if you're going to be late, at least come up with a better explanation." She said it in a playful tone, making the class laugh.
Yuna quickly nodded. "I'm sorry, Miss Lillian."
Miss Lillian chuckled. "It's okay. Now, go sit down."
Yuna and Kai hurried to their seats and sat down.
Yuna nudged Kai and whispered, "I thought Miss Lillian was going to give us detention."
Kai let out a breath. "Me too. But she's actually sweet."
Yuna smiled. "Yeah, she is."
Just then, Miss Lillian clapped her hands. "Alright, class! Let's begin with our first history class and first chapter."
Kai groaned, resting his head on the desk. "Ugh… I don't like history."
Yuna sighed. "Same, but we have to score well."
Kai sat up lazily, forcing himself to pay attention as the class officially began.
Kai was half-heartedly listening, lazily staring at the board, while Yuna diligently took notes. The rest of the class was focused, but Kai was struggling to keep his eyes open. Just when he thought he couldn't take it anymore—
The bell rang.
A grin spread across Kai's face as he sat up straight, relieved.
Miss Lillian smiled. "Alright, class, that's it for today. Get ready for your next lesson."
All the students stood up in unison, saying, "Thank you, Miss Lillian."
She gave them a small nod before exiting the classroom.
As soon as she left, Ryan turned around, noticing Yuna and Kai chatting and laughing together.
He smirked. "Hey, you two! What are your names?"
Before Yuna could answer, Mason leaned over and said, "They're kai and Yuna."
Ryan chuckled. "Ohh,yeah, Then his smirk widened. "So… yuna and kai,are you two dating?"
Kai and Yuna snapped their heads toward each other, exchanging looks of pure disgust before speaking in perfect sync—
"Ewww ! No! Never!"
Yuna scoffed. "Like I'd ever date him."
Kai crossed his arms. "And she's definitely not my type."
Ryan raised an eyebrow, amused. "Huh… weird. When you two walked in together, I was sure you were a couple."
Before either of them could respond, a girl sitting beside Ryan interrupted with a small laugh.
"They're best friends, right?" she said, glancing at Yuna. "By the way, I'm Hannah."
Yuna smiled warmly. "Hey, Hannah! And yes, we're best friends."
Ryan nodded. "Got it."
Mason grinned. "Hey, Hannah!"
Ryan gave her a playful nudge mason. "Looks like we've got some interesting people in this class."
(As Ryan was about to say something, a deep, commanding voice cut through the chatter.)
A tall man with sharp features, dark eyes, and a stern expression entered the classroom, holding a thick math textbook. His gaze was enough to make the room fall silent. He put he's book on teacher's table.
"Silence,"he ordered, his voice heavy with authority. "Listen carefully, students. I am Mr. Anderson Graves, your mathematics teacher."
His piercing eyes scanned the class. Listen "Don't ever expect me to be a sweet and friendly teacher—I'm not like that . In my class, you follow the rules. You write what I tell you, and you ask questions once. If you don't understand after that, then just accept that you're not using your brain properly."
The students exchanged nervous glances.
"I have seen too many students fail in my subject. If you don't want to be one of them, put in the effort. No noise, no excuses, and definitely no trying to act smart in front of me. Understood?"
A chorus of voices rang out, "Yes, sir!"
"Any questions?" he asked, his tone daring anyone to speak up.
Silence.
"Good. Let's begin," he said, turning towards the board as he started writing equations.
The class was dead silent. Not a single student dared to look away or whisper. For the next hour, they were completely focused. Even Kai, who usually hated studying, sat up straight, too intimidated to do otherwise.
Finally, the bell rang. A collective sigh of relief spread through the room.
Mr. Anderson turned back. "Tomorrow, there will be a test on everything I taught today. Be prepared."
A few students gulped.
"Understood?"
"Yes, sir," the class responded in unison.
"Good." He walked toward the door, and as he left, the students quickly stood up and said, "Thank you, sir."
The moment he was gone, the tension in the room broke. Some students stretched their stiff shoulders, while others exchanged nervous looks.
Ryan let out a low whistle. "Well, that was intense."
Kai groaned. "A test already? We just started!"
Yuna shook her head. "We better study, or Mr. Anderson might actually fail us all." BUT?
Yuna let out a dramatic sigh and dropped her head onto the table. "Ahhh, I don't like math," she groaned.
Kai smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Tell me something new."
Ryan chuckled. "I think no one in this class likes math, except maybe the nerds."
Mason nudged him. "Dude, don't say that too loud. What if Mr. Anderson hears you from the hallway?"
Yuna peeked up from the table with a pout. "A test on the second day? That's just cruel."
Kai sighed. "Yeah, and with our luck, he's probably the type to make his tests impossible."
Hannah, who had been quietly flipping through her notes, smiled. "Don't worry, guys. If you study properly, it won't be that bad."
Kai looked at her like she had just said the most ridiculous thing. "Study? Who does that?"
Yuna rolled her eyes and flicked his forehead. "You do, or else you'll fail."
Kai groaned, rubbing his forehead. "Fine, fine. But if I fail, I'm blaming Mr. Anderson."
