Chapter 35: The Changed Story

"Ahaha~! Are you finally willing to drive the food truck near the Osborne Group?" Jason's fast food truck started business at noon, and one of the customers was the slightly angry Gwen Stacy.

It must be said that beautiful women are also very beautiful when they are angry, and standing next to Gwen is Peter Parker. This guy now goes to get off work with Gwen every day and also accompanies the beautiful woman to have lunch.

The two of them made rapid progress. "You promised to open the food truck near the Osborne Group, but you always open it near Wall Street! We have to run several blocks to find you every time." Miss Gwen was unhappy about Jason's breach of promise.

"Oh~ I'm sorry Gwen, the neighborhood in Osborne didn't allow businesses to be opened on the roadside before, even for fast food trucks." Jason apologized. "There is a small rest plaza near Wall Street where you can park and do business, so I can only do business there."

"If the police chief in charge of patrolling this block hadn't fallen in love with the burgers I made, I probably wouldn't have gotten a permit to park and do business in this block until now." Jason shrugged and said that he was not to blame for this, but only the policemen who drove him away.

"Okay, this explanation is reasonable. Give me two burgers quickly! I'm starving!" Gwen looked really hungry and asked for two big burgers right away.

"Wow~ Aren't girls afraid of getting fat by eating so much? Gwen, you are a beauty and you need to pay attention to maintaining your figure." Jason looked at Gwen in disbelief. Gwen had never touched high-calorie foods like hamburgers before.

Before, Gwen always ordered Chinese dumplings on Jason's food truck. The dumplings are steamed and the fillings are not greasy, so they are very healthy food.

"Oh~ stop talking Jason, I want five burgers! I feel like I'm dying." Peter next to him said in a weak mental state.

Peter Parker is now a superman in many senses. Even he looks like this, which makes Jason a little curious. Did something happen in their laboratory?

"Wow~ Okay, okay." Jason looked at the two and nodded and started to prepare the burgers. "What's wrong? You look like you're about to die?"

"It's worse than dying. At four in the morning, Dr. Connors called and notified everyone in the cross-species genetics experiment team to rush to the laboratory." Peter said in a horrified tone as if he had discovered a murder.

"The doctor is crazy! We have been working in the lab since four o'clock! Can you imagine? It's already 12:30 noon!" Gwen continued Peter's words. "For eight and a half hours! We have been working without eating or drinking!"

"Speaking of water, can you please give Gwen and me two large glasses of Coke? I suddenly realized that my throat is so dry that it's about to smoke." Peter's voice was indeed a little hoarse.

"Oh, okay, wait a moment." Jason filled two large paper cups with Coke and handed them to Peter, looking at him and Gwen with sympathy.

"Why? Is Dr. Connors really crazy? He woke up dozens of staff members in the experimental team in the middle of the night to work, and made them work continuously for eight and a half hours?" Jason asked puzzledly.

"Ah~ This is the first time I feel how refreshing it is to be able to drink iced cola in big gulps." Peter did not answer Jason's question. Instead, he took a big gulp of cola before preparing to answer Jason.

"Because the first batch of cross-species genetic serum has been produced!" Peter felt alive again after drinking the Coke, and began to speak to Jason in an excited tone.

"The first batch of serum has been produced, which is a big step forward in our experimental plan! We can start real in vivo experiments!" Gwen was also excited when she mentioned this.

"We got up in the middle of the night just for this. Although we are very tired, the mood in the whole lab is very high." Peter said in an admiring tone. "Dr. Connors is about to change the world!"

Wait ~ changed the world? Sorry, you mean Dr. Connors? If I remember correctly, he just changed himself into a humanoid lizard, and a very unfriendly one at that. Even the four little turtles living in the sewers of New York were friendlier than him.

"We have injected the first batch of serum into two experimental mice. Guess what the result will be!" Peter asked Jason with an expectant look.

As a good friend who is good at understanding, Jason asked cooperatively. "How is it?"

"Two mice that were missing a leg grew new legs within a quarter of an hour after being injected with the serum!" Peter is very proud now, because he also contributed a lot to this experiment. After all, it was he who proposed the new decay rate algorithm structure.

"We have been carefully observing the vital signs of the two mice, and so far both are normal. Because they are self-grown limbs, there will not be any exclusion reactions like in general transplant surgeries." Gwen helped Peter finish the following words.

"Wow~ This could win the Nobel Prize in Medicine." Although Jason knew that this experiment would most likely fail, he still praised it insincerely.

"Here, Peter, the burgers are ready. Send them to Gwen." While the three were talking, Jason finished making the seven burgers ordered by the two and motioned for Peter to come and get them.

"Hmm~ smells good! I'm so hungry now that I can eat a cow." Peter took the burger and handed Gwen her the portion. Then he ate it without caring about his image. He was really hungry.

"Peter, I think you'd better work overtime these days." Jason suddenly said.

"Why?" Peter asked in confusion.

"There is a proverb in China: A journey of a hundred miles begins with a single step." Jason said a Chinese proverb to Peter.

"What it means is, you run a marathon. Even if you finish the first 99% of the distance, as long as you don't complete the remaining 1%, you still don't finish the race." Jason explained the proverb in a way that Peter could understand.

"It's just like when you do scientific experiments. Even if a research is 99.99% completed, as long as 0.01% is not completed, then your previous 99.99% efforts will probably be wasted." Peter agreed with Jason's words.

"Now your experiment has reached the most critical stage, and no mistakes can occur. Otherwise, Dr. Connors's efforts over the years and your efforts for more than a month will be in vain." Jason finished speaking his thoughts.

"I think what Jason said makes a lot of sense!" Gwen nodded in agreement after hearing Jason's words. "Peter, you are now Dr. Connors' most important assistant. I think you need to be more careful at this critical moment."

"If this experiment is successful, your name will definitely be included in the doctoral thesis! Then it will be easy for you to apply for a full scholarship or even a special scholarship from New York University." Gwen said to Peter.

"And I don't think you would like your hard work to fail at the last moment." Gwen's words made Peter more determined to work harder at the last moment.

Peter finished his burger as quickly as possible and said, "Then Jason, I won't talk to you for now. You and Gwen are right. We must be cautious in every step at this moment! I'll go to the laboratory to continue observing the experimental readings!"

After saying this, Peter walked away quickly, leaving Gwen behind.

"He seems to have left you behind." Jason frowned and said to Gwen with a sly smile. "Once he starts doing something, he is so serious." Gwen said nonchalantly, then finished the burger in her hand in a few bites and caught up with Peter.

Looking at the two people's receding backs, and then looking at the towering Osborne Building, Jason hoped that his words could change the original plot.

After all, Dr. Connors' intentions are good. If he can be organized to mutate into Dr. Lizard, perhaps he can continue to develop new serums.

Perhaps one day a human world without weaknesses will really come. At that time, humans will be free from the torture of illness and disability and create a brand new world. Jason is also looking forward to that day.

At the end of August, the night wind in New York has already been a little chilly. New York is close to the coast, and even at night there are many ships coming in and out of the New York docks.

Sitting on the top of a tall building, Jason looked out at the New York docklands. It seemed that not only he and Peter were quiet recently, but also the Stanich family, who he expected to be looking for him and Peter all over the world, were quiet.

The quietness was abnormal, and this abnormality made the underground order of New York seem to have improved all of a sudden. This week, Brooklyn was in the media because there were no murders in a whole week.

The national media went crazy, as if the absence of murders in Brooklyn would be the end of America.

Jason felt a toothache when he read the reports in these newspapers. They were all a bunch of people who wanted nothing more than chaos in the world. Whether on this side of the ocean or on the other side of the ocean, the media in the two countries, or the media in the world, all had the same nature.

"You're becoming increasingly difficult to find now! Night Walker." The sudden voice from behind Jason made Jason break out in a cold sweat, but after listening carefully, Jason discovered that it seemed to be an acquaintance.

"Are you free? I think we need to talk." Punisher Frank sat down next to Jason and said, "About the Stanich family."
