Sophia’s POV

“I am heading out. You should stay in our room. Your stuff will be brought shortly,” Matteo said, standing up from his chair.

Our room.

Fuck him.

I sat rigidly, refusing to look at him as he buttoned up his shirt, moving around as if he hadn’t just threatened and humiliated me over dinner. He walked toward the door, but before leaving, he paused, glancing back at me.

“Be good while I’m gone, cara,” he murmured, his smirk returning.

I didn’t respond. I refused to give him the satisfaction of a reaction.

He chuckled lowly. “I’ll be back soon.”

The door clicked shut behind him, and I finally exhaled the breath I didn’t realize I had been holding.

I was alone.

My gaze darted toward the bedside table where my phone lay. I grabbed it, my fingers trembling slightly as I unlocked the screen. Who could I call?
