I sat on the bed with my legs tucked beneath me, the soft, silky material of the bathrobe brushing against my skin. My face was smeared with a thick, clay-based face mask that was beginning to harden, tightening across my cheeks and forehead. The scent of lavender and mint wafted from it, soothing my frayed nerves. My hair was wrapped in a towel, damp from the hot shower I'd just taken. I picked up my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I found Carol's name.
Tapping the screen, I put the phone to my ear. It rang twice before she picked up.
"Hey Mama," I said with a smirk.
"Call me that one more time and I will never talk to you again," she snapped playfully. I laughed, the sound echoing lightly in the quiet bedroom.
"Well, whatever. How are you anyway? And your baby daddy?"
