It was supposed to be a normal day in the normal life of Shizen Kenmochi.
Somewhere, in a dimly lit room, a man named Koni Dio stood holding a piece of paper. His voice cut through the silence. "The information that we gathered suggests that," he said, "Shizen Kenmochi was walking down the stairs to have lunch with his family. He went down, sat on his chair. His mother was making dinner when suddenly—onis ambushed the house and Killed his family when they tried to kill shizen they were unsuccessful ."
An unknown man interrupted, his tone sharp. "Why would onis take a gamble and attack an ordinary family?"
Koni Dio smirked faintly. "But that was not an ordinary family, was it?"
The unknown man's voice grew serious. "No, they were not."
Koni Dio continued, his eyes narrowing. "When the onis were slaughtering everyone in that house, they must not have had the information we now possess. They knew one of the family members had the crimson blood—but didn't know who. So they started to slaughter everyone that was part of that family."
The unknown man pressed, "But why would they take such a high risk to kill a crimson code blooded? "
Koni Dio clenched his fists, wiped his hair back, and spat out with raw anger, "Those bastards, how did they know."
"They slaughtered his family, couldn't kill him, and ran before we arrived," the unknown man said grimly.
"We're locating them right now as we speak," Koni Dio replied, his voice steady but laced with fury.
"What happened to the boy's eyes? Did they manage to blind him?" the unknown man asked.
Koni Dio shook his head. "that's not the case. Bring him to the headquarters—and don't wake him up. Keep him under."
"You got it," the unknown man said as he vanished, leaving behind a trace of a blood-covered circle that faded in seconds.
Koni Dio sat down, legs crossed, and muttered under his breath, "Shizen Kenmochi."
In Shizen Kenmochi's mind, one word echoed endlessly: "Die." "Die." "Die." "Die." "Die."
Suddenly, he jolted awake. Darkness. He couldn't see a thing. His hands shot to his face, feeling fabric wrapped around his eyes. He grabbed it, ready to rip it off—until a hand touched his, stopping him cold.
A voice spoke, calm but firm. "It won't help, kid. Leave it be for now."
Startled, Kenmochi jerked back, tumbling off the bed he'd been lying on. He scrambled away, waving his hands wildly, screaming, "Don't touch me! Get away!"
The voice came again, softer this time. "Don't worry, Kenmochi. Nobody's gonna hurt you, I promise. Just calm down."
"Why would I trust you?!" Kenmochi snapped, his voice trembling with rage. "Who are you? Did you kill my family, you bastard?!"
"No, Kenmochi," the voice replied steadily. "We saved you and took you in. Just calm down and listen for a second."
"I'm listening," Kenmochi growled. "Make it quick, or I'll run and call the police, and they're gonna arrest you."
The voice sighed. "My name is Koni Dio. Your family has been killed, and I'm truly sad for you. But we're not here to harm you. We're here to help you."
Kenmochi's fists tightened. "I don't need your help. Just let me go, and I'll kill those bastards who killed my family myself."
He reached for his eyes, yanking off the blindfold—only to find nothing but darkness.
"What is this?!" he shouted. "Why is it so dark in here?! Hey, someone turn on the light!"
"Just calm down," the unknown man's voice cut in.
Koni Dio's tone grew urgent. "Listen, Kenmochi, I'm gonna make this really quick, and you better listen closely."
Kenmochi took a deep breath, swallowing hard, and nodded. He was listening.
Koni Dio's voice dropped low. "Your life has been changed. It's your choice to decide if it's for the greater good or bad. You've lost your vision from the attack at your house—but it doesn't mean you'll be blind forever. We're here to help, so please let us."
Tears streamed down Kenmochi's blind eyes. "So you're telling me I lost my family and my eyes?!" He collapsed to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably. But then—a gentle hand rested on his shoulder.
"You've had it rough, kid," Koni Dio said softly. "Don't worry. You just have to trust us." He slipped the blindfold back over Kenmochi's eyes. "Grab my hand and try to stand up."
Kenmochi slowly rose, shaky but determined.
"Keep holding my hand and follow my lead, understood?" Koni Dio asked.
"Okay," Kenmochi whispered.
Moments later, they were seated somewhere new.
"Where are we?" Kenmochi asked, his voice small.
"We're in a safe place," Koni Dio replied.
"What are we doing here?"
Koni Dio leaned in. "I'm gonna tell you something crazy. You might not believe it, but bear with me."
"Okay, I'm listening," Kenmochi said, bracing himself.
Koni Dio began, his voice steady and deliberate. "Humans of the world believe the Mesozoic Era was destroyed by a natural disaster "WRONG!" they couldn't be more wrong. Civilization lived like it does today, but people's biology was different back then. Humans had different blood."
"Blood?" Kenmochi echoed, confused.
"Yes, blood," Koni Dio said, pressing on. "It was called a crimson code. In today's age, there are only eight main blood types. But back then, there were thousands—tens of thousands—of blood types, each one unique. It determined the strength, the ability, and the technique of the blooded one."
"Ability?" Kenmochi cut in. "What are you talking about?"
"Believe me, kid," Koni Dio said with a faint chuckle. "Where was I? Oh yeah—it determines the strength, ability, and technique of the one who possessed the blood. But everything ends eventually. A war started that wiped out every human on the planet, along with the animals. In today's age, humans are no different from each other—every one of them as weak as the rest. But then, something changed."
He paused for effect. "Millennia ago, people started showing symptoms of crimson code blood. This generation born with that blood is called Veymars. Years after discovering this, Veymars united to create an institution outside of government to teach newly awakened Veymars to control their abilities. But where there's a good side, there's always a bad one trying to crawl into the outside world. Some Veymars turned evil. They call themselves Onis—and they use their power to destroy every Veymar in the world."
Kenmochi frowned. "Even if what you're telling me is true, why would I have that kind of blood? No one in my family had it."
"It doesn't work like that," Koni Dio said. "Heck, even we don't know how we have that kind of blood. But believe me when I say you have the blood we call crimson."
"How do you know I even have that kind of blood?" Kenmochi shot back.
Koni Dio's voice turned grave. "It's simple. We awaken when we face death itself."
Koni Dio continued, "In that moment, the crimson blood cells in your system start to multiply and give you massive amounts of strength. In some cases, the blood even forms a barrier and protects the blooded one. In your case, kid—your throat was sliced off. And in that moment, you regenerated. Your blood exploded, killing the one that cut your throat. We got there in time, but the others ran away."
Kenmochi's voice trembled. "but I still don't understand why—why can't I see?"
"When we awaken the crimson blood ," Koni Dio explained, "some of our bodies can't contain it. It's common for a Veymar to die from the blood. We think the massive amount of blood flow in your body caused your eyes to lose vision."
"So that's it, then?" Kenmochi said, voice breaking. "I'm blind for the rest of my life?"
"I didn't tell you the whole story kid learn to listen, " Koni Dio cut in. ": he crimson blood is strong and powerful. It gives humans incredible speed, strength, and recovery. But there are weak and strong bloods. That's why we have a rank for every crimson blood type. And the stronger your blood is, the more techniques you can use. If your blood is high rank, Kenmochi, you might be able to restore your vision."
Kenmochi looked up, tears streaming down his face. "W-What is my rank? Please, tell me!"
"We don't know yet," Koni Dio said. "Your blood is being tested as we speak. In time, we'll know. But in the meantime, let's get out of this underground and show you the dorms you'll be staying at from now on."
Kenmochi said " why are we in the underground "
Koni dio said " cause you know the whole crimson blood secret i don't want anyone finding that out you know. "
Kenmochi said " so u chose underground "
koni dio raised his hands the ceiling opened up rocks falling apart and he said " I'm not proud of it my self "
Kenmochi gripped Koni Dio's hand tightly as they walked and he said " and I'm supposed to trust this guy ?"
Koni Dio's eyes sharpened as he watched the boy. In his mind, one thought lingered: There's no way of telling Veymars and humans apart before they awaken. So how did the Onis know he had the crimson blood?
