"My dark angel," he murmured, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Mister?" Sera waved a hand in front of his eyes, but Jihoon didn't react. His gaze remained locked on her.
"My dark angel," he murmured again.
"Mister?" Sera tapped his shoulder, still getting no response.
SLAP!
The sharp sting brought Jihoon back from his wonderland. He flinched, taking a quick step back and glancing around.
"Where are we?" he asked, rubbing his cheek.
"Heaven," Sera scoffed. "Now, let's go."
"Where are we going?" Jihoon asked warily. He had no idea who she was, and caution was necessary. "And why did you help me?"
"Your father's friend sent me," she answered. "That should clear up all your worries."
"Nope, it doesn't," Jihoon shot back. "There are good friends and bad friends. You might have been sent by his bad friends."
"Seriously? Bad friends?" Sera let out a sigh of exasperation and yanked off her mask.
Once Jihoon saw her face, his eyes widened. "I know you! We met once at Miss Jeong's restaurant!"
"We did," Sera nodded. "That was six months ago."
"You got even more beautiful in six months," Jihoon muttered to himself. He immediately covered his mouth with his palm. He had said it, and she had heard him.
She glanced at him, then over at the unconscious Ryu. "We have to leave now. He might wake up soon."
Sera grabbed his arm and dragged him to her bike. She put on her mask and handed him her helmet. Then she climbed onto the front and gestured for him to sit at the back.
"I can't sit there," he replied, gulping down the saliva that had accumulated in his throat.
"Why not?" she asked with a frown.
"If I sit there, my stuff will be touching your... you know, and you're really beautiful. I might not be able to bring it back down," Jihoon admitted, his face turning red.
"..." Sera remained speechless. She pulled him closer with a grin. "Then, shouldn't you consider yourself lucky?"
Seo Jihoon quickly hopped onto the bike with a big smile on his face. His heart was thumping wildly, and his head was as red as a tomato. His stuff was also beginning to feel the heat, and he kind of enjoyed it.
"Hold on tight," Sera said, watching him put on the helmet.
"Sure," Jihoon answered, holding the bike's rear for support.
"Don't put your hands there," Sera pulled his hands from the rear and wrapped them around her.
The moment she did that, Jihoon lost his ability to breathe. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to tear itself out of his chest. He froze like a mannequin, his eyes locked on Sera. Why was she doing this to him?
Sera started the bike and zoomed off. Shortly after she was gone, Ryu immediately called his boss and told him what had happened. As he had predicted, his boss was furious. Fifty million won was nothing in his eyes, but the fact that Jihoon dared to scam him made his blood boil.
"They won't live to see tomorrow!" the voice roared from the other side of the phone.
Ryu trembled at his master's rage. He even regretted reporting the situation. Whenever his master got angry, he lost control and did terrifying things.
"And you..." the voice continued. "Meet me back at the casino. We have a lot to discuss."
"Y-yes, boss," Ryu stammered. As soon as the call ended, he pulled out his phone and booked a flight overseas. His master was going to kill him for this failure, and he knew it.
---
Jihoon held on tightly as Sera sped down the road, dodging red lights and overtaking cars. Then, her phone rang. She pulled over to the side of the road to answer it.
"Mister Kang?"
"Where are you right now?" Min-chul asked.
"I'm at Baekho Bridge, heading for the company," she replied.
"Go to the Lee family's house right now!" Kang Min-chul ordered, urgency in his voice.
"Why?" Sera asked.
"One of our spies in the Red Moon Syndicate just reported movement within the gang. It looks like they're preparing to attack someone—and I'm guessing that someone is you," Min-chul said. "What exactly happened? You know what, never mind. Just get the painter to safety. I'm sure it's him they want."
"Understood," Kwon Sera said before turning her bike around and speeding toward the Lee family's house.
Moments after she left the bridge, a black jeep tried to run her over, but Sera did a 360-degree turn with her bike, narrowly avoiding the impact. The jeep's window lowered, and men carrying heavy weaponry started firing at them.
"Can you shoot a gun?" she asked.
"I've never held one in my life," Jihoon replied sadly.
"Damn!" she cursed. "Well, it doesn't really matter."
She increased her speed, creating some distance between them and the jeep. Jihoon sighed, thinking they were safe, but Sera knew the fun was just getting started.
Two more black jeeps appeared behind them, followed by several motorbikes. Sera smiled, slowing down a bit. The men tailing them didn't notice her decrease in speed; instead, they thought they were catching up.
The bikers were the first to reach Sera, but she gunned them down one by one until all ten were dead.
"Who the hell is riding that bike?" a driver in one of the jeeps asked in awe.
"I need to take care of those jeeps. Do me a favor and hold the handlebars, hun," she said, removing Jihoon's arms from her waist and placing them on the bike's handles.
Then she turned around to face Jihoon. When she did that, his heart almost jumped out of his mouth.
"What are you doing?"
"Watch," she said, revealing a simple sniper rifle from underneath the bike's seat.
"Whoa, where did that come from?" Jihoon asked, staring at the gun.
"Eyes on the road before you kill us both," Sera warned.
She pulled herself closer to Jihoon and wrapped herself around him. Holding the sniper rifle, Sera sniped down the drivers of the jeeps. One lost control and tumbled over, while the other ran into a nearby shop.
She placed the gun where she had taken it from and took control of the bike again. Seo Jihoon inhaled and exhaled heavily after she had turned away from him. He had held his breath when she wrapped herself around him, and only breathed again when she unwrapped herself from him.
"What do you think? I was awesome, right?" Sera asked, grinning.
Jihoon was still frozen. If not for the helmet he was wearing, Sera would have seen his red, sweaty face.
"We're almost there!" said Sera. "Hold on, Jihoon!"
Hearing his name from her made him regain his senses, and when he did, a car from the intersection they had just reached crashed into them. Sera and Jihoon were thrown off the bike and landed on the ground.
Seo Jihoon fell unconscious, while Sera had a broken leg and arm. The car was the same black Lamborghini she had spotted at the police station earlier. The door opened, and a man with a cigar stepped out, approaching her.
"Kwon Sera," he said. "It's nice to meet you."
"Yoon Jaesung," she chuckled, glancing at his Lamborghini, whose front was now ruined. "Who's going to fix your car?"
"Don't worry," Jaesung replied. "I have more where that came from."
Then he turned to face Jihoon, who was still lying unconscious. Sera grabbed his leg, trying to pull his attention away from Jihoon, but he kicked her in the belly, and she winced in pain.
He squatted when he reached Jihoon and began slapping his face repeatedly. "How dare you scam me? I had considered letting you off even after I sent you the money. Normally, after I've gotten what I need from a person, I kill them and take back what I've given them. How dare you take my kindness lightly!"
Jihoon, who now seemed awake, chuckled. "You should've thought about being kind when you had my parents killed."
"You're awake? Good," said Yoon Jaesung. "I'll ask you one last time. Do you or do you not know where the drive is?"
"I know," Jihoon muttered.
"But you said you didn't," Jaesung replied.
"I just remembered," Jihoon said.
His reply caused Jaesung to laugh. "And you expect me to believe that? This was the same trick you used to fool Ryu—you definitely won't fool me!"
"The drive... It contains proof of the illegal deeds of the Black Crown," Jihoon muttered loud enough for Jaesung to hear.
Hearing the phrase Black Crown made Jaesung shiver involuntarily. He got up to his feet and moved away from Jihoon. Suddenly, a white G-Wagon sped into the scene, slamming into Jaesung and sending him flying into the air.
"Boss!" A voice boomed as they saw Jaesung crash down.
In just a few seconds, men in black suits wielding iron bats gathered at the scene, surrounding the white G-Wagon. These men belonged to the Red Moon Syndicate.
The car door swung open, and a black-haired beauty stepped out. Seo Jihoon recognized her face, but he couldn't remember where he had seen her before. She was dressed in all-black, tight-fitting clothes, a sword in her right hand and a gun in the other.
Jaesung glanced at his broken legs, then lifted his gaze to the driver of the G-Wagon. The moment he saw her, his face twisted in rage and disbelief.
"Fck you, btch!" he spat, his voice laced with pain and fury.
