Chapter 39

Masika's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Why did Sophia come here today?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of concern and curiosity.

Joon's expression turned grim. "I think Sophia saw the engagement announcement and realized that I'm off the market," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "She's probably feeling jealous and bitter."

Masika nodded, understanding. She had seen the way Sophia looked at Joon, with a mixture of longing and resentment.

Just then, Joon's phone rang. He answered, listening intently to the person on the other end.

His expression darkened, and he turned to Masika. "I have to go," he said, his voice low and urgent. "There's something I need to take care of."

Masika's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?" she asked, feeling a sense of unease.

Joon hesitated, his eyes locked on hers. "I'll tell you later," he said, his voice softening. "Just stay here and stay safe."

And with that, Joon turned and walked out of the room, leaving Masika feeling worried and uncertain.

Masika sat in the living room, feeling a sense of unease. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off, that Joon was hiding something from her.

Just then, her phone rang. It was an unknown number, but Masika answered anyway.

"Hello?" she said, her voice cautious.

"Masika, it's Sophia," the voice on the other end said, her tone dripping with malice. "I see Joon has already told you about me."

Masika's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Sophia?" she asked, her voice firm.

Sophia laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "I want to tell you the truth about Joon," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "He's not what he seems, Masika. He's hiding secrets, and I'm the only one who can reveal them to you."

Masika's heart skipped a beat. She didn't know what to believe, but a part of her wanted to hear Sophia out.

"What secrets?" Masika asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sophia's laughter echoed through the phone. "Meet me at the old café on 5th street at 5 pm," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "And come alone."

The line went dead, leaving Masika feeling uneasy and uncertain.

Masika's heart was racing as she arrived at the old café on 5th street. She had decided to come with her bodyguards, just in case Sophia had any tricks up her sleeve.

As she entered the café, she spotted Sophia sitting in the corner, a smug look on her face.

Masika approached her, her bodyguards flanking her on either side.

"So, Sophia, what's this truth you want to reveal about Joon?" Masika asked, her voice firm and confident.

Sophia sneered, her eyes flashing with malice. "Joon is not what he seems," she repeated, her voice dripping with venom. "He's hiding secrets, and I'm the only one who can reveal them to you."

Masika listened patiently, her expression unreadable. When Sophia finished speaking, Masika leaned forward, her eyes blazing with anger.

"Listen, Sophia," Masika said, her voice low and menacing. "I don't know what your problem is, but I'm warning you: stay away from Joon. He's mine, and I won't let anyone come between us."

Sophia's smile faltered, and for a moment, Masika saw a glimmer of fear in her eyes.

"You don't know Joon like I do," Masika continued, her voice dripping with venom. "You're just blinded by jealousy and a childish crush. Stay away from my home, or else I'll tell Joon to slaughter you."

Masika's bodyguards shifted uncomfortably, their eyes darting nervously between Masika and Sophia.

Sophia's face turned white, and she looked like she was about to pass out.

"Do you want to test me?" Masika asked, her eyes glinting with a fierce light. "I'm not afraid of you, Sophia. I'll do whatever it takes to protect Joon and our relationship."

The air was thick with tension as Masika's words hung in the air. Sophia looked like she was about to collapse, and Masika's bodyguards were poised to intervene if necessary.

But Masika just stood there, her eyes blazing with a fierce determination. She was ready to fight for Joon, and she wouldn't let anyone get in her way.
