Killa, short-term from Killiana. Germogen, who turned out to be her father, named her in precise—easy, short, and suitable. She walked to the new school, first and new by herself, from the long-secret island where no outsiders were allowed to enter, Southland. Her sneakers supported her feet for the long distances to the main city in the South Continent. She could let Germogen drop her off, but it would be a big scene for her, and she didn't want anyone to know or have a glimpse of her family.
Eventually, she noticed the big modern building, which was far different from Lysander Castle and the old church. She might have seen a few of the modern clubs in Southland when she visited with her brother to do a family mission, yet it's totally different—clean, neat, and green.
Even though she didn't show much facial expression, her eyes could tell everything about her feelings. She might not acknowledge this point, but she kept it cool and calm despite that. Walking past the green yard and concrete through students her own age, adding or abducting a few. They wore the same uniform, which showed she was in the right place. Their eyes were on her, watching her and gossiping, so she decided to take herself to the principal office by her own guess since she didn't know where it was located, assuming it was inside the building, easy step.
She walked and tried to find the office without asking anyone, letting the surroundings be the surroundings. She noticed the narrow hallway, where she heard something hard against something quietly and the sound of yelling that slightly raised. She decided to choose this path, the path of curiosity, rather than the right path to take where she was supposed to go.
Time was running down, but she did not care well; she didn't wear any watches anyway.
"I don't think it's all the money you have."
"Give me!"
"Aren't you rich already?" The victim said,
Killa was eavesdropping behind the wall, watching them.
"Huh, do you think I'm doing this because I want money?" the short-haired person said, pausing with an upset face, "you think you are a favorite student? The top and popular one, so you can act like a careless bastard." The victim said nothing, making three young predators angrier. "Don't smirk at me asshole!!" And then that short-haired guy was going to punch the victim, who had light pink hair.
'Strange hair,' Killa thought lightly in her mind.
But his fist was caught by Killa's little hand.
"The fuck!!" That short-haired guy was confused and looked at her face, quite a long halt while observing her. He looked at Killa without a blink, and so did Killa, but her eyes were locked on the pink-haired guy instead of the person's fist.
'Oh, he's so beautiful—strange hair, indeed.' Killa thought.
"Hey..." The short-haired guy called her, but Killa was still lost in the beautiful victim's face. "Hey! What are you doing here!? Get lost!" He yelled at her. "Ahh!!" he screamed because Killa squeezed his hand and pushed it back to him. "Hey! It's none of your business here. Who are you? I haven't seen you before." He looked at Killa with a curious face, forgetting that she just pushed him a second ago.
"I'm new," Killa said,
'Oh god...' the short-haired guy thought and blushed because Killa's eyes turned to look at him, and her face was too cute to resist. "Are you lost? I can take you...but let me finish with this asshole first."
Killa turned to see the pink-haired guy's face. He didn't show any emotion, only his bruise around his face. That short-haired guy fist straight to the beautiful victim's face again. But he didn't even try to dodge or avoid, making Killa come in between them again. Then, she took a fist with her hand.
"Move, new girl! Your beautiful face will get ruined!" The short-haired guy, the predator number one.
"You should go." The victim guy said calmly to her.
'Even his voice is beautiful,' Killa thought with sparkling eyes. I won't let your ugly hand ruin his beautiful face," Killa talked back to predator number one.
All of them were shocked, including the pink-haired guy behind her.
"Come on!! Of course, she's going to fall to this fucker! You fall for that face, right!? I'm gonna make him more handsome, so move!!" the predator number one was pissed off and pushed Killa away.
The victim was stunned a little, and his face was getting upset because a girl was hurt because of him.
'That mother fucker.' Killa thought with fierce eyes.
"You should take the money and leave like always." The victim said,
"And you should shut up and let me punch you like always!" the predator number one shouted,
The beautiful victim raised his fist this time and was about to attack the predator number one's face, but Killa used her fist to punch the guy before him.
"Argh!!" the predator number one's head fell back as he screamed. All of them were shocked; their eyes and mouths widened.
"This is my first day of school, so I don't want any trouble," Killa said calmly,
"You little shit!" the predator number two approached her,
"Hey! You think you are a girl, and I can't do anything!?" predator number three hurriedly came in between and shouted at her aggressively,
"Sure you can," Killa said, walking closer to them carelessly. Then, predator number one came and pushed himself before his mates. Killer looked at him with no reaction. "But I have to go," Killa said, raising her hands to touch his jaw. He stood still, and his face turned red. Either he was upset or was abashed. "And I can't find a principal's office. Can you take me?" then, she turned her face to the victim with a smiling face.
The pink-haired guy, the beautiful victim, was surprised. "I'll take you," he said,
Then they left the predators confusingly upset in the narrow alley that shouldn't have been built inside the school building.
While Killa and her new beautiful crush, who had a strange, lovely hair color, walked through the hallway to the principal's office, no one was outside, only them with dark blue floors and so many doors on the wall.
"Should you go to a nursing room?" Killa asked,
"I'm okay—but you," He said,
Killa made a sound, waiting, "Hm?"
He shifted his sight to her right little hand on her knuckles. "Your hand," he said,
"I'm okay," she said,
"You shouldn't barge in..." he said,
'I'm helping him, but he told me not to barge in,' Killa thought. "I'm sorry then," she said, her eyes looking down on the floor. She was confused and a bit unappreciated.
He glanced at her. "I mean, you say you don't want any trouble. Being involved with that kind of guy will lead to more problems...me too," he said,
"You shouldn't give the money to them," she said,
"Same as you. I don't want any trouble," he said,
"But it seems you get more," she said. He was shocked by how frank she was. "If you keep giving it to them, they will continue to do so. And you always stay still, letting them punch you like that," she continued.
'You don't know anything...' He thought. "Here's the principal's office."
'Did I say something that offended him?' Killa thought. "Thank you," she said,
Then suddenly, someone opened the door, stunned both of them.
"Are you a new girl?" the mature lady in a neat outfit asked as she observed Killa.
"Yes," Killa said,
"You're late," she said, but Killa didn't respond anything to that. "Oh, Daiki...Can you take her to the classroom?" and give the white paper to Killa, "This is the schedule paper." she said,
'He seems uneasy,' Killa thought. "It's okay. I can go there by myself." Killa said and took the paper.
Killa left them and walked straight. She didn't want to burden someone because of his reaction. Perhaps he didn't want to be bothered or wasn't comfortable being with her, but something about him made Killa's nerves also feel uncomfortable. She had never met someone who drew her in like that before.
"Wait, I'll take you," The guy in Killa's mind called her from behind. She didn't say anything. While she looked at the schedule paper, he stood beside her, took a peek at it, and noticed her hand. 'I shouldn't be upset by what she said...actually, I was upset because it's the truth.' he thought, "Can I see?" He asked for her schedule, and then she gave it to him. "You're in 10th grade?" he was a bit shocked.
"If that paper said that, then...yes," she didn't even know her grade, so she tried to keep calm.
'What that's supposed to mean, but that means she's younger than me... and she took a fist for me?' He thought. "I'm your senpai," he said,
She was confused again, "Hm?" she made the soft sound in her throat.
"I'm older than you," he said,
She curled her lips a bit. "Okay," she said,
'Normally, when they know someone's older, their behavior should have changed...especially for a new student. But she doesn't seem to care.' He thought with a curious face. "This is your class. You will study in this class until the end of the semester," he said,
"Okay," she said,
"You should speak formally with someone older," he said,
She raised her eyebrow a bit. " Okay," she said. 'That's a school rule? Or perhaps society rules?' she thought quietly, but not her eyes. He looked at her patiently. "Senpai," she said the word as he asked, then smiled at him at the end.
'When she smiles, it's…god,' He thought. "I don't think they're gonna let you go," Senpai said. Then, Killa moved her head a little, wondering what he was trying to say. "You're new, so you will be the target...not just for them, and you look..." he paused, and his eyes were gazing at her.
She started to muddle. "What? Why? What is my look?"
'Because you look too cute...My eyes never have experienced someone looking so...beautiful...anyway! And your personality wouldn't help with anything. It will cause more problems for you. You don't seem like a girl who surrenders to anyone,' He thought. "Nothing. But you should be more careful about the thugs...and someone older...this school is about,"
"Ranking? Thank you, I'll keep that in mind, Senpai," she said. Ranking and positioning, she knew the deeds so well.
"About back there...I let them because I just don't like the violence," he said,
Killa looked at him, "hmm,"
He looks at her cute face, "What?"
"If I say...Are you going to be mad at me?" She asked. Then he was stunned but said nothing, "You don't like violence, so you decided not to do anything...However, you still couldn't run from it...because they still use violence on you…Do they?"
He was speechless, 'Who the hell is she? Is she really a 15-year-old girl? And back then, weren't you scared at all? A normal girl should run away immediately, not just girls, even if some boys in this school run away from them,' Senpai thought.
"I'm sorry if I speak too bluntly. I just don't want them to hurt you. "She said frankly,
He was even more lost in his words. "We just met..." He was confused by her strange behavior.
'I shouldn't, shit...Is he going to think I'm weird? I should stop talking.' Killa thought. "Well, I shouldn't...Then, I won't do anything to upset you, Senpai," she said, leaving him outside the classroom.
'She's a little strange...' Senpai thought.
After the first class, she found out they were more interested in her than a class lesson, perhaps because she was the only new girl in the middle of the semester or because of her different hair color, which stood out too much. But she didn't care about the eyes or gossip. Lysanders shaped her how to behave and handle it well. Everything was so new to her eyes, and the environment was different. She wasn't a social butterfly, so having a new friend on the first day seemed complicated for her. It was like she was on the field, taking a mission from her father, intimidating somehow, but she wasn't scared, ready to attack. She needed to observe and wait patiently for what the surroundings and people here were like. It might take a couple of days, a week, or even a year. Who wouldn't know? But she would love to figure it out while she still had the opportunity to learn how to be a normal young high school girl without shredding blood or stabbing someone to death.
"Hi," said a girl with short black hair, neck-length and with a bang. She turned her body around to Killa's desk and greeted her.
"Hi," Killa said,
"Don't care about them," she said, and Killa looked at her confusedly. They are just like that. You'll be the talk of the town for only a day or two. No need to worry, " she said with a genuine smile.
Then, Killa turned to look around at other students, boys and girls, whispering and looking at her.
"Oh...I'm not worried," Killa said truthfully,
"Then good. Where did you transfer from?"
"I didn't transfer here," Killa said,
"What does that mean?" The girl was curious.
"This is my first time..." Killa said,
"Ha? Your first time?" She repeated,
"Yes,"
"In school?" She couldn't believe what she heard.
"Yes,"
"So you're homeschooled?" She asked,
'Homeschooled? It's not all wrong,' Killa Thought.
"You could say that..." Killa avoided eye contact a bit.
"That…was...awesome!" The girl stood up and leaned her body closer to Killa with all the excitement. Killa was shocked. Her eyes widened open. "I've never met someone who was homeschooled before," She smiled so wide, "You can call me Maki,"
"Okay," Killa said, 'She's cute.' Killa thought.
"You're Killa, right?" She asked, and then Killa nodded. "So you're new in everything here in school, and you choose this school too, hmm...that would be hard," Maki said,
"Nah, not for her..." another girl joined in. "Sorry, I heard what you guys said earlier," she continued,
"Hi, Delilah...and what the hell are you trying to say?" Maki seemed upset.
"Killa, right? You are like a new princess here." Delilah said. Killa was confused. "A doll, a new sweet, pretty princess doll who could walk around school." Killa was more confused.
"She means that you're pretty," Maki explained.
'Why she didn't say so,' Killa thought, raising her left eyebrow.
"If you are not poor, not low status, have no bad reputation records...then you'll be fine." Delilah said, "Are you?" she asked, and Killa said nothing. Then she chuckled brightly, "And if you don't find any trouble...don't steal anyone's light. You will be just…fine," Delilah gave her last sentence and walked away.
'Hmm,' Killa's mind was processing.
"Ignore her, she's just like that...but it's true, this school is about status, money, and reputation," Maki said,
"What about you?" Killa asked,
"What about me?" Maki asked back,
"Are you worried about that?" Killa asked her perspective.
"Haha, I was...but I'm used to it. My family has money but is not that high class or have a special status in this society. And I just avoid dramas in school. So I passed that time quite well." Maki said,
"It's that school rules?" Killa asked,
Maki was so stunned, 'Oh my god, she's so adorable!!! And too innocent! How can she survive the school alone? Maybe...she can...She's pretty, cute, and looks attractive to boys and...or girls a-anyway! That can cause problems as well,' she thought so loudly that Killa found her reaction plotting something. Maki looked and surveyed Killa again, seeing her pink cheeks and sparkling eyes match her hair, which was too unique and obviously could catch people's attention without trying. Then Maki sighed a long breath after acknowledging Killa's personality and her tiny behavior, 'The way she talks is too frank and too blunt; it might bring troubles to her, to be honest...her eyes, well was too damn pretty to get away from, but they look intimidating...I can't look straight at hers.' Maki thought, "It's just a survival suggestion, but don't overthink...if you have any problems or are curious about anything, you can ask me. I'll try my best...if I can,"
Killa smiled, "Thank you, Maki." She appreciated what Maki had said to her.
"Oh my god! My heart," Maki was stunned for a second,
"...what?" Killa was bewildered by Maki's action.
