It was around midnight when I stirred awake, the room wrapped in a thick silence that only deepened the stillness of the night. The faint moonlight filtering through the curtains painted soft patterns across the room, casting a pale glow over everything it touched. The air was cool, but not unpleasant, and the sheets around me were tangled from our earlier chaos.
