Chapter 8

I curved my lips into a slight smile. "I'm back."

Gunner nodded, walking over to embrace both Luna and me in his arms. "Daddy loves Luna too, but you know what? Daddy loves Mommy the most."

"That's okay, Luna loves Mommy the most too."

Luna clapped her hands, completely unfazed.

I gently tapped Luna's nose and rested my head against Gunner's chest.

Feeling his heartbeat, the irritation from being disturbed by Kellan and Donavan gradually faded away. For Gunner and Luna, any hardship was worth enduring.

The next day, just as I had dropped Luna off at preschool, Kellan intercepted me at the entrance.

"Vivienne, you said you didn't know me, so it's not too late for us to get acquainted now. I'm Kellan."

I looked at him with a furrowed brow. "Are you nuts?"

"There might have been a misunderstanding between us before. I apologize for that," he said, his expression seemingly sincere.
