The campus seemed to be divided into several blocks, their dormitory was on the outer edges of the academy closer to the campus boundary. After entering into the academic grounds, the freshers were usually escorted to their dorms for setting up their rooms. It worked on first come first served basis so the early birds picked up the rooms of their choice.
This was the first day in campus for Zeill, arriving nearly at the end of dusk yesterday he spent the entire day setting up his room, well just a clock and some posters. So this was for the first time Zeill and Matt were having a good look at their campus.
Veylan Academy, it was as grand as the range of mountains which bestowed it with it's name. Veylan mountains, though a long chain of towering peaks but as the academy stood on the foothills, only the lower Veylans appeared at its background. Well...lower Veylans weren't the grandest set of towering peaks, but rather a cluster of small hills. The peaks of these hills were visible from the campus, a good cover of forest with still awakening woods and patches of bare trees waiting to be fully enveloped by spring.
"So, where do we go now? It's bigger than what I'd imagined," curiously Matt inquired Zeill, his eyes wandering to remember the sights they passed.
They have been wandering, well, walking straight in the stony street for a while now, and the grandeur only kept on increasing. They passed by 2 more buildings which mentioned department of historical studies and mess III. Oh this is where the meals came from, as the fresh batch was yet to familiarize themselves with the campus, their meals for the day were sent to them in their dorms, a newcomer's first day perk some might say.
Walking on for a while they came across a small wooden bridge arching over a narrow stream connecting to a small pond.
"Let's ask someone, it's getting a bit late now." Zeill replied absentmindedly while staring at the pond. There was a man dressed up in black, guard's uniform? He was sitting at one end of the bridge.
Approaching him they inquired about the directions. Having learnt the route to the administrative block, both of them crossed the bridge and carried on towards the right lane going by the stream. There were some other academic blocks they came upon which they unanimously chose to ignore for the time being and rushed towards the big circular building that was now visible.
The theme of little gardens, grassed up lands, flowers in the corners or some trees grown around buildings and streets was prevalent throughout. Some places had a bit of raised up uneven lands which was grassed up and some students resting there or chatting with their friends could be seen.
The Administrative block was a two storey circular building which was predominantly built up of a purplish blue hued glass. Marveling at the architecture for a few seconds they decided to enter the building, much to Zeill's surprise, it wasn't contrasting, not everything is contrasting huh.
There was a blackish wall which seemed to go in a circle surrounding the central part of the circular building, connected to which were many offices in glass enclosed areas. There were different tags at the front of each glass conveying their purpose.
Right at the entrance, there was the reception table, in all the enclosures it was the only contrasting open place. A white haired lady was sitting behind the table dabbling with some documents, hair didn't justify her age, she seemed to be entering her early thirties. Light blue irises, pale skin, white shirt and a grey blazer.
"Excuse me."
"Hmm" laying down her documents she glanced at the duo "yes, how may I help you?"
"We are the new batch of students...we were asked to collect our id and uniform from here." replied Zeill
"Oh, you boys are freshers... wait a minute" she stepped out of the small space behind the table and walked on towards a glass enclosed office. "Follow me."
Inside the office there were neatly packed boxes with tags attached to them, dozens lay around, even more. "Id."
"Hmm" both of them replied
"What hmm?" she glanced back at them.
Both the guys seemed enchanted for a while, it was now that they noticed the beauty hidden in the eyes, or rather the snow white hair, captivated by the sudden dawn of beauty Matt babbled "huh, sorry?"
"Your id numbers...sigh...why are you guys dazing in the middle of nowhere."
"S-sorry."
Giving out a helpless look the blue eyed repeated "Id."
"Ze2480" "Ma2488"
She glanced around for a while, then noticed a tag mentioning 'Ma2488', raising her hand she opened her palms towards the box and performed a grabbing motion, the box rattled a bit and then started floating towards her hand.
"Awakened"... both of them gasped in shock, the enchantment of beauty seemed to wear off as quickly as it took over and what covered their faces was shock and the feeling of trepidation. It wasn't everyday that you will see a successful awakener, and the awakener being the receptionist took them off guard.
While they were dazed by the white haired woman, she collected the other box and started walking out of the glass office. "Hm what's wrong with both of you? Why do you always seem in a daze?" she asked with some confusion reflecting on her face.
"Y-y-you are an awakener" stuttered Matt
"Hmmm" she gave a questioning gaze, "is it weird?"
"N-no, it's just i haven't met many" Matt replied shyly.
"You'll come across many in these few years" she gave a warm smile, "maybe you will become one."
A smile beamed over his face and again the burly brown haired guy went into his dreamland until he got hit by an elbow on the side.
"What?" He gave a rather dissatisfied look.
Zeill, with a box in his hand flickered his gaze pointing ahead.
Turning his head Matt saw the white haired lady with a box in her hand. "S-sorry," he collected his box from her hand.
"Excuse me" said Zeill
She glanced at him "Yes."
"Can you tell me what power was that?" he apprehensively asked with a bit of expectation.
"You don't ask an awakener what power they awakened, that's rule number one" she said with a teasing smile on her face, "but as this is your first day here, and my powers are relatively well known, it's minor telekinesis."
"Minor telekinesis" he repeated, an eager expression flashing his ivory toned face.
"Hahaha, don't worry, you boys will have your time, if you are lucky, you might even awaken in your first genesis," saying so she moved back to her desk. "Give me your id's again, I have to fill up your information." she tapped on the small block in her table which turned to a two dimensional screen and entered the information.
"You boys are free to go, information about your classes and rest of your schedules will be provided to you on the notice board of your dorm," saying so she became disinterested in further conversation and started to dabble in her files again.
Glancing at the busy woman Zeill and Matt left the building and started to move back to their dorm.
Checking in at the dorm they walked towards the second floor, the first room right of the stairs was Matt's and adjacent to that was Zeill's room. Bidding each other goodbye both went back to their rooms, eager to see what has been provided to them by the university.
