Kaido and Raoul began moving inside the temple, and the place was completely dark, showing no trace of human life. As Kaido looked around, he noticed that darkness enveloped everything except for some flames glowing in the corners, casting strange shadows on the stone walls.
Ancient drawings filled the walls as if they were narrating a story from a forgotten past. Among these images, Kaido's attention was drawn to a huge painting on the wall, depicting a creature resembling the demon he had seen in his dream. He stood still, his heart beginning to beat faster than usual.
"Is that... it?" he murmured to himself.
In the painting, there were four demons standing, surrounding a terrifying entity in the center, and they appeared to be fighting against people wearing strange necklaces.
The necklace was a meticulously carved masterpiece, formed in the shape of a double-headed spear, an axe, and a sword intertwined in majestic harmony, and right in its center, there was an intricately carved eye, giving the impression that it was watching everything.
While Kaido was contemplating the image, he heard a sound coming from inside the temple. He turned toward the sound and then signaled Raoul to approach cautiously. The two slipped behind massive columns to observe what was happening.
Inside, Elian, Terry, some farmers, and villagers were busy organizing strange rituals.
Suddenly, the guard responsible for the dungeon burst into the area, though he was in a pitiful state. He fell to the ground, panting heavily, his eyes filled with terror.
"The prisoner has escaped... escaped from the cage!"
Tension filled the place. Elian frowned in anger, then quickly raised his hand, and a huge tree covered in thorns burst from the ground. Its intertwined trunks twisted around the guard's neck, lifting him into the air.
"You fool!" he shouted angrily. "How can you not keep track of a single prisoner?"
Terry quickly intervened, trying to calm the situation.
"Stop, Elian! We need these men. They are the loyal villagers... We will find the prisoner and bring him back, don't worry!"
Elian hurled the guard away, and he fell forcefully to the ground, writhing in pain.
"Good, but hurry. You must stop him before he gets away."
With difficulty, the guard lifted his head and said in a broken voice:
"He wasn't alone... He was helped by... Raoul!"
Terry froze for a moment, then said angrily:
"Raoul?"
At that moment, Kaido and Raoul were still hiding behind one of the columns, but when Raoul stepped on a small twig on the ground, a sudden sound made Elian turn toward them quickly.
"Catch them!" Elian shouted forcefully.
Kaido and Raoul began running swiftly inside the temple, but soon they found themselves surrounded from all sides, with no escape route.
"Kaidol!" he called out as he hurriedly tried to find an exit.
"Run outside quickly, I'll create a path for you!" Kaido said.
Kaido dashed forward and attacked the farmers at the front in an attempt to create an opening for Raoul to escape. The farmers grabbed Kaido and restrained him, but Kaido pushed them aside and urged, "Raoul, hurry—run!"
Raoul moved hesitantly, reluctant to leave Kaido behind, but then he moved swiftly, determined to head toward the village to find help and to inform them about the monk Elian and his true nature.
On his way to the temple's exit at the gate, Raoul collided with something solid; his body recoiled forcefully as if he had struck an iron wall. He lifted his head to see a huge man carrying a sword on his back, and beside him, a man with long silver hair wearing a traditional robe, holding in his hands a Gombangdae.
Both were wearing a necklace identical to the one depicted in the temple's drawings.
They paid little attention to Raoul's presence and continued straight into the temple. The silver-haired man, named Loki, cast a sharp glance around, then said to his companion:
"Is this the place?"
His companion answered calmly, "Yes, let's move."
Raoul stood there, astonished as he watched them enter, but he wasted no more time and sprinted toward the village. When he arrived, he began telling people what he had seen inside the temple and what Elian and the farmers were doing.
But... no one cared.
One villager looked at him and said quietly:
"We know everything, but we do not want to die."
At that moment, Raoul understood the truth. The villagers weren't ignorant—they were simply afraid. They just wanted to continue living, regardless of the cost.
Meanwhile, inside the temple, the farmers managed to capture Kaido and dragged him forcefully to Elian, who stood before him holding a black dagger adorned with engravings resembling wheat ears.
Elian slowly raised the dagger; the engravings glowed with a faint red light, as if pulsating with life.
"This is no ordinary dagger," he said in a cold voice, then bent slightly, attempting to thrust it into Kaido's body.
At that moment, as the dagger neared, Kaido tried to escape, but he was completely surrounded. Then, suddenly, some of the flames in the corners went out, as if something in the atmosphere had changed.
Then... Kaido's hand began to transform, just as it had previously before the Maanangal.
Seizing the distraction, with a sudden movement, Kaido propelled his body forward with all his strength, causing Elian to stagger slightly. It wasn't enough for him to escape, but it brought him very close to the dagger.
Without thinking, Kaido quickly moved his hand and grabbed the dagger directly; he felt a cold shock coursing through his body upon contact.
A moment of terrifying silence ensued.
Elian opened his eyes in astonishment, as if grasping the dagger was not allowed—a move no one had expected. The sounds around him became muffled, as if he had detached from reality for a moment.
And at that moment, the temple door opened, and Loki and his companion entered, further heightening the chaos of the scene. He stood there, his heart pounding heavily, with a strange sensation of being watched by an unseen presence. Who were these people? Were they enemies? Or were they individuals brought by Raoul?
