Night 15: Predestination is a trap

Pray, pray that God will have mercy on your sinful people one last time, wash away my sins and show me the way to escape ...

The fearful, the sinful, the unrepentant are caught in a snare. But he that trusteth in the LORD shall be secure.

Upon running out of the dark cavern, Evina gasped with excitement. Taking a short break, she couldn't help but pick up her pace and continue to dart towards unknown territory.

Because, as soon as she was caught back by Nidhitra, there was no doubt that she would be put under house arrest so hard that she would have to drink blood for the rest of her life, even if she wasn't a vampire.

The dew on the short bushes stained the hem of her skirt, picking up the thick skirt that prevented her from running, Yvonne looked like a woeful Cinderella at the moment.

"Where is this?" Muttered the question to herself, completely lost in the face of the extremely similar woods that surrounded her. Looking for several exits, but there was no light at the end of each path, just back to square one.

Crouching her slender body, she felt deep despair. Even if she escaped Niditra's control, she could still starve to death here alive. Perhaps the wish to see her father again was really just a dream, a luxury.

Standing up and tugging feebly at her aching legs, she could already feel her stomach throbbing violently from the prolonged period of fasting. She was probably just going to die, never having the strength to look for the next way out.

A familiar smell floated in the air.

Freshly baked cake, cheese and bacon, fresh milk mixed with this strong smell of honey. Following the scent, Evina was shocked beyond words.

Why, after walking through so many exits, did she not realize that there was a table of long-prepared food not far from her.

  Slowly, slowly approaching.

The white tablecloths, the sumptuous dishes, so out of place in the dank, gray surroundings of the place, that the hospitality of such a tangent table had to arouse Evina's wariness.

Until she reached out and could touch the food on the table, she had to admit that it wasn't a hallucination due to hunger; the scent of vanilla cake hit her, and the pudding in the corner of the table evoked a sweet temptation.

This, then, is the gift of God.

Give thanks to my Lord, give thanks to the LORD.

Yvonne didn't forget her pre-dinner prayer, even if she was on the verge of fainting from hunger right now. The soft croissant was right next to her mouth, the savory scent of cheese echoing in the moist air. The next step was to bite into the bacon that lay on the surface, those two sharp teeth that didn't belong to her now coming in handy, allowing her to enjoy her most craved meal with little effort. Yvonne took a sip of hot milk, feeling a rare moment of happiness. But just then--

"Ah ..." The white napkin on the table gradually became filthy, the 'delicacies' molded one by one, the sliced de bacon turned into a rotting red maple leaf, and the fresh milk that she had just taken a small sip of The fresh milk she had just sipped was just a cup of sewage in a broken bowl and glass.

Without waiting for Evina to snap out of her panic, the ground instantly collapsed into a large chunk. She could feel her body falling uncontrollably, downward, toward a darker, darker place.

A sharp pain shot through her frail nerves, and in the few seconds she was conscious, she felt a figure looming over her.

  "Save ..."

Her chin was roughly scooped up, and just by the last vestiges of her senses, she could feel that the hand was bone-chillingly cold.
