Chapter 195: The Fall of a Nation

 (Skylar's POV)

The transmission from the battlefield crackled with static before stabilizing. The U.S. military had breached Aso Rock.

The once-impenetrable fortress—the heart of Nigeria's government—was now surrounded. Smoke billowed into the sky as explosions rocked the underground bunkers. The screams of soldiers and civilians echoed through the comms.

And then, the words I dreaded most came through.

"We have President Okonkwo. He's in custody."

Chris stood at the head of the Situation Room, arms crossed, his expression unreadable. But I knew him too well. He had won.

"Secure him. Bring him to me alive." His voice was devoid of emotion, as if this was just another routine decision.

I pressed my hands against the table, trying to steady my breathing. An entire country had fallen in less than a day. The world would never recover from this.

"Chris, stop this now. It's over." My voice wavered, but I refused to back down. "You have Okonkwo. You've taken their land, their people. What more do you want?"

Chris turned his head slightly, studying me. "Control."

That single word sent a chill down my spine.

Before I could argue, one of the generals interrupted. "Sir, we have intercepted a communication from France. They're calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting. The world is condemning this invasion."

I watched Chris closely, waiting for some flicker of concern. But there was none.

"Let them talk." He walked past me, his voice low but commanding. "By the time they finish their speeches, Nigeria will already be mine."

I swallowed hard. The world could protest, leaders could call emergency meetings, and the media could scream about war crimes—but none of it would change the fact that Chris had done the unthinkable.

He had taken over a sovereign nation.

And now, there was only one question left.

What would he do next?
