(Skylar's POV)
The world was still reeling from the sight of the American flag waving over Aso Rock when Chris made his next move.
I stood beside him in the White House press room, cameras flashing as journalists from around the globe waited for his statement. Everyone wanted answers.
And Chris was about to give them something even bigger.
He adjusted the microphone, his expression composed, his voice commanding. "As of today, Nigeria is no longer an independent nation."
The room erupted into gasps.
"It is now a territory of the United States."
I clenched my fists. He had done it. He had wiped an entire country off the map with a single declaration.
But he wasn't done.
Chris turned slightly, his cold gaze meeting mine before facing the cameras again. "Effective immediately, I am appointing Skylar as the new Governor-General of Nigeria."
The silence was deafening.
I felt my heart stop.
Governor-General.
Not a puppet. Not a consultant.
Chris had just put me in charge of the very country he had conquered.
The questions exploded at once.
"President Chris, does this mean Nigeria has no future as a sovereign nation?"
"Governor Skylar, do you support this occupation?"
"Will other African nations be next?"
Chris raised a hand, silencing them effortlessly. "Nigeria will be rebuilt under American leadership. And Skylar will oversee its transformation."
I exhaled shakily. I wasn't prepared for this.
I turned to Chris, whispering under my breath. "What are you doing?"
His voice was low, firm. "I trust you. And I need someone who sees beyond power—someone who knows how to balance it."****"
I searched his face for any hesitation. There was none.
Chris had reshaped the world, and now—he had handed me the keys to a fallen empire.
I faced the cameras again, my heart pounding.
I had a choice. Reject this… or embrace it.
The world was watching.
And as much as I wanted to deny it—I had already been pulled too deep into Chris's game.
