Sarah had spent the previous night with Ryder, and she couldn't stop thinking about him.
As she approached her desk in the office, Alexander looked up from his computer, a look of curiosity on his face.
"Hey, Sarah. How was your night?" he asked, his tone neutral.
Sarah hesitated for a moment before responding. "It was fine, thanks. I just went out for drinks with some friends."
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Friends? You didn't mention anything about going out with friends when we talked about the meeting yesterday."
Sarah shrugged. "I didn't think it was a big deal. Besides, I didn't know I had to report my every move to you."
Alexander's expression turned serious. "I'm not trying to control you, Sarah. I just want to make sure you're okay. You seemed a little... distracted yesterday."
Sarah felt a flush rise to her cheeks. "I'm fine, Alexander. Really. I just had a long day, that's all."
Alexander leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing. "I see. Well, if you're sure everything is okay... "
Sarah nodded, feeling a little bit of relief. "Yes, everything is fine. Thanks for asking."
But Alexander's expression didn't change. He looked like he didn't believe her.
"Sarah, can I ask you something?" he said, his voice low and serious.
Sarah hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Of course, what is it?"
Alexander leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I saw you leaving the bar with Ryder last night. What's going on between you two?"
Sarah felt a surge of surprise. "How did you...? Never mind. What business is it of yours, anyway?"
Alexander's expression turned cold. "I'm making it my business. You're my assistant, Sarah. I need to know what's going on in your life."
Sarah felt a spark of anger. "You have no right to question me like this, Alexander. I'm a grown woman, and I can take care of myself."
Alexander's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm just trying to protect you, Sarah. Ryder is not a good guy. He's got a reputation for being ruthless in business, and I don't want to see you get hurt."
Sarah raised an eyebrow. "And what makes you think I'm not capable of taking care of myself? I'm not some fragile little flower that needs to be protected."
Alexander's expression softened slightly. "I know you're not, Sarah. But I just... I care about you, okay? And I don't want to see you get hurt."
Sarah felt somewhat surprised. She had never seen Alexander show this kind of emotion before.
"Alexander, I appreciate your concern, but I can take care of myself," she said, trying to sound calm. "And even if I couldn't, it's not like you have any claim on me. We're just employer and employee, remember?"
Alexander's expression turned cold again. "I remember," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But just so you know, Sarah, I'm not just thinking of you as my employee. I'm thinking of you as... something more."
"What are you talking about, Alexander?". She asked.
Alexander leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I'm talking about the fact that I have feelings for you, Sarah. Feelings that go beyond just employer and employee."
Sarah felt like she had been punched in the gut. She had never seen this coming.
"Alexander, I... I don't know what to say," she stuttered.
Alexander's expression turned bitter. "You don't have to say anything, Sarah. I just wanted you to know how I feel. But I can see that you're not interested. You're too busy running after Ryder, aren't you?"
Sarah replied angrily. "That's not fair, Alexander. You have no right to question me like this."
Alexander stood up, his eyes blazing with anger. "I have every right, Sarah. You're my assistant, and I deserve to know what's going on in your life."
Sarah stood up, her heart pounding with anger. "I've had enough of this," she said, her voice shaking with emotion.
Alexander's expression turned shocked. "Damn girl... don't be so ridiculous."
As Sarah turned to leave the office, she felt a hand hold her back. It was Alexander.
He pulled her to him slightly and placed a kiss on her lips. It was all she had been waiting for.
But of course, it had happened now and she didn't know how to react. She pulled his well-straightened shirt, drawing him to close to her as she kissed him back passionately.
It was time to give in to their desires.
