Chapter 102: Skipping the History of Magic Class! Encountering a Ghost!

Harry couldn't stand it anymore. With his cousin backing him up, he didn't hesitate at all and immediately got up to follow.

Professor Binns was standing on the podium like a distorted audio player. He was stunned by this sudden situation.

In his life and after his death, he had taught the history of magic class for I don't know how many years. Although basically no students liked to listen to his classes, no student had ever dared to skip his class so openly in the middle.

You should at least come up with an excuse like having a headache, a fever, or a stomachache before leaving!

What's the deal with not giving me any face like this?

Professor Binns tried to use his ghostly brain to come up with some words to scold Dudley and Harry.

But before he could think of anything, Dudley had already led Harry to the classroom door.

"Professor Binns, I'm a teaching assistant. I'm going to take Harry Potter for a private class now. Is that okay?"

"No way in hell!"

Professor Binns really wanted to retort, but before he could finish his words, Dudley had already taken Harry away.

Well, being very old, he didn't even realize he had died in his sleep and just thought he had forgotten to bring his body to class and become a ghost, so his brain wasn't always functioning well.

He stared blankly at the opened classroom door. After a while, he even seemed to have forgotten about Dudley taking Harry away.

"Students by the door, close the door. Come on, let's continue. There was a strange wizard in the Middle Ages called Yurick. He was from Ravenclaw. He used jellyfish as his felt hat, kept more than fifty Augureys, and even slept with them..."

The wizards in the class were stunned, especially the students from Gryffindor.

They whispered to each other during the class, but Professor Binns just kept teaching and didn't care at all.

"So cool! Dudley is so cool! Why didn't he ask me to go to the library to study with him? Merlin's beard! I'd rather read books in the library than listen to Professor Binns' class!"

Ron said excitedly to Neville and Hermione beside him.

"Because Dudley knows you can't concentrate on reading!"

Hermione mercilessly exposed him. "Also, I don't think it's cool for Dudley to skip class! We should respect knowledge and the classroom. The history of magic is a compulsory course at Hogwarts!

Dudley and Harry will regret it when the year - end test comes!"

"You're so boring, Hermione!" Ron mumbled. Then he turned to Neville and asked, "What do you think, Neville?"

"I-I... think... Hermione's right!" Neville timidly said something bravely.

"Tsk!"

Ron was speechless. Seeing that Hermione and Neville weren't even looking at him and were just busy writing and drawing as they followed Professor Binns' narration, he looked around boredly. Then he noticed that another brave soul had emerged among their Gryffindor first - years.

Dean Thomas, the only male first - year who didn't live in the same dormitory as them but was arranged to live with the upper - classmen, quietly stood up and sneaked towards the classroom door.

Obviously, Dudley had set a bad example just now.

Dean also wanted to skip class.

"Stop!"

Most of the wizards in the class were watching Dean Thomas, who was about to successfully skip class. They were also getting restless.

The normally dull Professor Binns suddenly spoke up sharply.

"Dean Thomas! Are you also a teaching assistant? How dare you disrespect the class! Five points from Gryffindor!"

Dean froze. He looked at Professor Binns, who suddenly became more alert, in disbelief, his face full of annoyance. Then he slunk back to his seat.

Seeing Professor Binns pull out his point - deducting trick, the other wizards quelled their improper thoughts and had to meekly continue listening to Professor Binns' soporific lecture in an operatic tone.

...

On the way to the library on the second floor.

Besides being excited, Harry, like the studious Hermione, thought of the same question:

"Cousin, if we don't attend the history of magic class, what about the year - end exam? And the O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Level Exams) in the fifth year will also cover the history of magic."

Dudley turned to look at Harry and asked with a smile, "Harry, why did we come to Hogwarts?"

"To learn magic!" Harry answered as a matter of course.

"Then will learning the history of magic improve our magic skills?" Dudley asked again.

"Well... it seems not."

Harry seemed to have found the key point.

"That's it. If the history of magic can't improve our magic level, then what's the point of learning it?" Dudley directly put forward his thoughts.

"But cousin, I heard from Hermione that the exams at Hogwarts will affect the job assignments after graduation. Only with certain grades can one work at the Ministry of Magic..."

Harry understood what Dudley meant, but his thinking was still somewhat limited.

Hearing this, Dudley immediately gave him a hint, "Harry, why do people work?"

"For ideals and uh... salary?" Harry thought for a moment and replied.

"Exactly! People work mainly to make money to support themselves. Those with a higher level of pursuit also need to realize their life values through work. But do we lack money? You have a vault, and I can make gold bars. Why force ourselves just for money?

As for realizing your ideals through work, you don't have to worry about that.

After you graduate, whether you want to work at the Ministry of Magic or teach at Hogwarts, with our current fame and honors, it'll be more than enough.

So what if we leave the history of magic exam paper blank, not writing a single word?

As long as your magic power improves, no one will look down on you because of this. Instead, it'll become what people call the 'charisma of the strong' and be praised!"

"I understand, cousin!" Harry finally got it.

Dudley's words broadened Harry's horizons.

In the original story, in Harry's seventh - year at Hogwarts, he was harassed and chased by the Death Eaters and couldn't complete all the exams, so he couldn't graduate normally. But later, he was specially employed as an Auror by the Ministry of Magic.

All because of Harry's fame and his battle achievements.

Whether it's the Muggle world or the wizarding world, in the end, it all boils down to one thing: strength speaks.

The history of magic class can neither improve students' magic skills nor enhance their ideological awareness.

Dudley is tasked with the important mission of educational reform at Hogwarts. To address the regrets on behalf of the general consciousness of Hogwarts, he is bound to come up with strategies and ask Dumbledore to completely transform this course.

Dudley and Harry were walking in the castle corridor, both lost in thought.

Unexpectedly, they saw Peeves flying in mid - air, dressed in bright clothes, bowing obediently to a ghost with empty eyes, a blood - stained robe, and a mumbling mouth.

"It's the Bloody Baron!" Harry exclaimed. "Percy once said that only the Bloody Baron can make Peeves behave politely."

Dudley also turned his gaze to the middle - aged male ghost looking utterly dejected.

He knew the deeds of this ghost. The Bloody Baron was a figure a thousand years ago. He was a crazy admirer of Helena Ravenclaw, the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw, one of the founders of Hogwarts.

Later, when his courtship was rejected, in a fit of passion, he killed Helena.

After killing the woman he loved deeply, the Bloody Baron couldn't accept the reality and committed suicide out of guilt.

As a great lovelorn soul from Slytherin, the Bloody Baron is much more crazy, disgusting, and terrifying than Snape.

At least, when Lily rejected Snape and chose James, Snape didn't turn his love into hate and go stab Lily.

So, since Dudley didn't think much of Snape, he naturally wouldn't have a good impression of the Bloody Baron.

Thinking of Peeves' usefulness, he stepped forward directly and asked Peeves in the air:

"Peeves, do you really want to be constantly outdone by the Bloody Baron?"
