Katon walked, embracing two women, his mother and his youngest sister, while behind them, Morgan walked alongside Satria, discussing racehorses. Lily darted away from Katon to approach her grandparents, Andrew and Maya, who were sitting in the garden.
"Nana! Look who's here!" Lily exclaimed. Maya turned towards the voice, and Andrew followed suit, nudged by Maya.
"Katon?" Maya's voice was soft and hoarse. She tried to stand, a little unsteady, in her effort to see Katon more clearly. Arini released Katon and told him to approach Maya.
"Hello, most beautiful Nana in the world," Katon greeted, hugging the frail old Maya. Katon felt like he was hugging a woman made of paper. Her skin felt dry and rustled against Katon's healthy skin. Maya laughed, her voice hoarse, and hugged back, kissing Katon's cheeks.
"My lost grandson has returned. Why do you always leave Nana?" Maya asked, both happy and emotional.
"If I stay here, I'll just be a third wheel! Seeing all of you being so lovey-dovey. Luckily Lily can take it," Katon teased. And next to Andrew, Lily stuck out her tongue in response.
Maya laughed and kissed Katon again. After that, Katon released the hug so Maya could hug and greet Morgan. Meanwhile, Katon squatted down to greet Andrew, who was sitting in a garden chair.
"Hi, Grandpa..." he greeted softly, as if talking to a toddler. Andrew, with Lily's arm around him, was still trying to focus his gaze on Katon, who was squatting in front of him. Andrew's thin, wrinkled arm slowly reached out towards Katon.
He could see Andrew's pale skin adorned with streaks of green veins that were his muscles. To some, Andrew's arm might look horrifying, like a zombie's arm. But Katon warmly accepted the arm and let Andrew hug him.
"Hi little one, Papa misses you so much," Andrew whispered almost inaudibly, his voice trembling and hoarse. Katon released the hug to look at Andrew, who was smiling lovingly at him, then glanced at Arini and Satria, who were standing arm in arm behind him. Katon's eyes showed confusion.
"Grandpa thinks I'm Papa," he reported sadly. Satria nodded understandingly, while Arini just gave a sad smile.
"Your face does resemble me when I was young, Ton. Understand that Grandpa is getting senile, okay?" Satria comforted Katon.
"Grandpa, it's Katon. Your grandson." Katon, longing for recognition, hoped his presence would be noticed by Andrew. He wanted to be recognized as Katon, Andrew's beloved first grandson. The frail old man stroked Katon's face, his eyes shining beneath his white lashes and wrinkled eyelids.
"Katon?" Andrew's baritone voice, weakened by age, only produced a soft, trembling squeak.
"Yes, Grandpa. It's Katon. Remember?" Katon coaxed, touching Andrew's hands on his cheeks.
"Katon, my little karate kid," Andrew said a little nervously and chuckled softly.
"That's me, Grandpa. I'm your little karate kid. That's your little one," Katon said, alternately pointing to his broad chest and to Satria. Andrew laughed hoarsely again and hugged Katon tightly. Lily, laughing happily, joined in, hugging Andrew and Katon at the same time.
After the emotional reunion with the senile Andrew, Katon went to Rose's office with Morgan. He deliberately chose to ride a motorcycle. Satria had several motorcycles in his garage, as young Satria used to take Arini for rides. This time, Katon chose a red and white Honda RC213V-S.
"Me? On the back?" Morgan asked when Katon ignored him and chose a helmet for himself.
"I don't give rides to anyone who owns a dick, Morg," Katon replied. He had already chosen a suitable helmet for himself.
"Hey, jerk! So, I'm supposed to run alongside you like a greyhound, huh?" Morgan retorted, annoyed. A greyhound is the fastest running dog breed. Katon snorted, laughing.
"Choose one of my dad's other bikes, Morg. Don't be a pussy asking for a ride from me, I'm disgusted!"
"You should have said so earlier, woohoo! Hello beautiful, today I'll ride you," Morgan said, stroking a black and white BMW HP4 Race with electric blue accents in several places.
"Morg!" Katon called, and Morgan turned just in time to catch the helmet thrown by Katon. They prepared to mount their respective vehicles. The engines were started, and now the two motorcycles were purring sexily.
"Mr. Sanim, please open the gate," Katon said politely to the gatekeeper, who nodded respectfully and pressed the garage gate remote.
"The girls are going to turn our way, aren't they?" Morgan said gleefully.
"How can, if we pass at high speed?"
"We're going to speed?" Morgan asked cheerfully. Katon didn't answer, instead closing his helmet visor. The garage gate was wide open, and Katon shifted gears, released the clutch, and pulled the throttle simultaneously. His motorcycle sped out of the garage, followed by Morgan.
Rosie's office was in the city center, in one of the high-rise buildings dedicated to offices. Katon and Morgan took their motorcycles to the basement parking and used the elevator to reach the floor where Rosie's office was located.
As Morgan expected, women who passed them would look back and follow their footsteps. Morgan smiled smugly and looked at Katon. His smile instantly faded when he saw Katon nonchalantly being stared at by the women.
"Damn arrogant jerk!" Morgan hissed, more to himself, feeling less cool than Katon.
"Huh?" Katon, who didn't hear Morgan's curse, tried to ask.
"Uh, Rose's office. What floor?"
"Didn't you see earlier when we got out of the elevator?" Katon asked back, surprised at Morgan's foolishness.
They both entered an office and went straight to the receptionist. There were two receptionists there, both staring blankly at Katon's and Morgan's faces and physiques. It wasn't just their slightly swollen and bruised faces, but both exuded a dashing aura and were indeed handsome.
"Good afternoon, can I see Mrs. Rosalind Arsa Anindito?" Katon asked politely. Neither of them greeted him like staff should greet a guest, instead just staring blankly, making Katon take the initiative to greet first.
"Oh, yes, good afternoon. Sorry, what's your name, sir?" asked one of the receptionists, trying to come to her senses and focus.
"I'm Katon."
"He's Mrs. Rosalind's brother. They don't look alike, do they? This one must have been switched at the hospital." Morgan added jokingly. Both receptionists laughed at Morgan's joke, and Katon just smiled.
Katon inherited a lot of Satria's and Arini's genes, while his two younger sisters took more after their European ancestors, Andrew and Stuart, their great-grandfathers.
"Please wait, Mr. Katon." The receptionist invited Katon and Morgan to sit while she called Rosalind's secretary.
Katon and Morgan didn't have to wait long. A smartly dressed woman in a black dress with a white cross accent on her chest, tight-fitting and knee-length, came to meet Katon and Morgan.
"Mr. Katon, please follow me." Icha—Rosalind's secretary—greeted them respectfully and invited Katon and Morgan to follow her.
"Is she busy, Cha? Am I interrupting?" Katon asked. The three of them were walking together, the sound of their footsteps muffled by the carpet.
"Of course not. Madam Rosalind was expecting your arrival. She's just a little surprised since it should have been a few more days. What made you come sooner?" Icha asked politely. She walked while glancing at Katon, her smile truly captivating.
"Uhm, can I say, it's you?" Katon started flirting. Behind him, Morgan rolled his eyes. Icha giggled softly.
