Chapter 127: Night

"Quick, there's a battle arcade game over there I want to play that one!"

Yukina dragged Silas through the arcade, dashing from one game to the next with uncontainable excitement.

Silas wasn't even sure which one of them was supposed to be younger. Yukina looked way more hyped than he was.

As expected, humans are all the same deep down she'd acted so reluctant to come in just a while ago.

Time passed slowly, and the arcade gradually emptied out.

"Ah~"

Yukina let out a satisfied sigh as she grabbed a drink from Silas and downed half the bottle in one go.

It had been a long time since she'd felt this happy.

"Thank you so much!" she suddenly turned to Silas and said with surprising sincerity.

"Huh?" Silas tilted his head in confusion.

"Haha, it's nothing," Yukina chuckled softly, stood up, and stretched.

Under the moonlight, the outline of her graceful figure peeked out from beneath her oversized jacket.

"I'll head back first call me if anything comes up."

She made a little phone gesture with her hand and started walking toward the beauty district.

Silas watched her leave, then also stretched with a deep breath. Tonight had been a lot of fun. He hadn't relaxed like that in a long time.

He counted the tokens he had left. In the end, neither of them had anything left to play, so they dumped all their coins into the slot machines.

Twelve tokens remained. Silas remembered putting at least forty in by himself talk about poor return. That ratio was kind of outrageous.

Still, it was enough to trade in for a plushie. After a moment's hesitation at the front desk, he picked out a Vulpix.

The craftsmanship was unexpectedly great. The plush in his hands was more detailed and well-made than Silas had imagined.

He glanced at the label Yorita Group. Oh, that explains it. That kind of quality and affordability was typical of the Yorita Group, especially when it came to non-breeding merchandise.

Silas placed the Vulpix into his backpack. He figured he'd give it to Yukina later as a gift once she eventually raised a Vulpix of her own.

He hadn't even realized the flaw in his plan there was no telling when, or even if, that day would come.

By now, Silas had left the arcade and returned to his room at the Pokémon Center.

He released his three Pokémon, and soon enough, trainer and Pokémon were all fast asleep.

"Good job, keep it steady don't let the energy leak."

Early the next morning, in a small grove on the outskirts of Celadon City, Silas's voice rang out as he gave instructions.

He was currently helping Boldore and Blaziken refine their control over energy.

In front of them, sand and fire danced and swirled as the two Pokémon manipulated them with increasing finesse.

"Pidgeot!"

A sharp bird cry echoed through the air.

Pidgeot swooped down gracefully, stirring up a gust of wind that just happened to sweep toward Boldore and Blaziken.

"Boldore!" "Blaziken!"

Both Pokémon let out irritated cries as their concentrated control wavered due to the sudden disturbance.

Silas rubbed Pidgeot's head. "Cut it out—they're training."

"Pidgy~"

Pidgeot chirped softly, clearly unbothered. "I was just increasing the difficulty. Without external pressure, this is too easy."

"They're not like you," Silas said, giving Pidgeot a pat. "You've spent way more time as an Advanced-level Pokémon. Those two still aren't ready for stress training."

Pidgeot flapped its wings. Fine, fine—whatever you say.

Then the large bird leaned its full weight against Silas's side.

"What are you doing?" Silas said with mild annoyance. "You're a full-grown Pokémon, and you still need cuddles after warm-ups?"

Pidgeot didn't care what he said. It had flown around all morning and was tired. A short rest wouldn't hurt anyone.

Silas had no choice but to hold it up.

Fortunately, Pidgeot was about the same height as he was, and weighed just over 50 kilograms. With his level of physical fitness, holding it was no issue. It would've been a different story if it were one of the more massive species.

Blaziken scowled at its big brother. They were way too old to still be this clingy.

Pidgeot shifted to an even more comfortable position—"You used to do it way more than I ever did before you evolved."

Boldore remained silent off to the side. Not my problem.

The atmosphere in the grove was both productive and heartwarming.

Ding. A notification popped up on Silas's wristwatch.

> "I'm already at the Pokémon Center. Where's that gift you mentioned? " —Yukina.

> "On my way give me a few minutes."

Silas quickly replied, then called off the training session and returned all three of his Pokémon to their Luxury Balls.

He jogged back to the Pokémon Center and spotted Yukina sitting in the lounge area.

Dressed in a pale green dress, she looked more graceful than ever.

A few Trainers had gathered around her, and Silas could faintly hear their conversations.

"Miss Yukina, I'm a huge fan. Could I have your autograph?"

"Miss Yukina, your reputation doesn't do you justice. Your beauty and intellect are simply dazzling. I wonder if I could possibly—"

Silas raised an eyebrow. She really was popular.

Yukina responded with a polite but distant smile. This, in fact, was one of the reasons she preferred staying in the breeding house.

People like this always made her feel a bit uncomfortable. If Silas hadn't mentioned he had a gift for her, she never would have come here.

What? You're asking what she would've done if her bred Pokémon needed treatment?

Sorry every officially recognized Pokémon Breeder Master was provided with a dedicated logistics team by both the Joy family and the Pokémon League. The Joys assigned to these teams were even more capable than those working in standard Pokémon Centers.

As the sole student of her own teacher and someone with such outstanding potential as a breeder Yukina naturally received this high-level treatment as well.

Money talks. That's just how it works. Plain and simple.

While dealing with the admirers around her, Yukina suddenly spotted Silas walking into the Pokémon Center.

"Over here!"

She raised her hand to wave, flashing an apologetic smile at the nearby Trainers.

"Sorry, my friend just arrived. Let's chat again next time if we get the chance."

With that, she quickly excused herself and walked away.

"Miss Yukina, why not leave your contact—" One particularly persistent Trainer tried to speak again, but Yukina clearly didn't hear him… or was pretending not to.

Watching her walk to the entrance and then leave the Pokémon Center alongside a young man, chatting and laughing, the group could only sigh in resignation. Still, they maintained basic courtesy and refrained from being pushy.

After exchanging a few awkward glances—none of them knowing each other they muttered some pleasantries and dispersed.

Meanwhile, Silas had barely stepped into the Center before being pulled out by Yukina. He was caught a little off guard, but after putting the pieces together, he more or less understood the situation.

"Alright, where's this gift you mentioned?" Yukina got straight to the point.

"Here." Silas took out the Vulpix plush from his backpack the one from last night.

He'd realized this morning that he might've messed up by not giving it to her earlier, so he messaged Yukina first thing today to say he had a present for her.

What he hadn't expected… was that she'd show up so quickly.

"Wow, it's so cute!" Yukina's eyes immediately sparkled with delight the moment she saw the plush.

The reddish-brown fur, the brown, pupil-less eyes that looked like polished amber, the large pointed ears, and the six curled orange tails this four-legged fox Pokémon was perfectly captured in plush form, practically springing to life in her hands.
