"Nyx, tell me the truth. Isn't this all a little too convenient?" He chuckled bitterly. "I just start cultivating, and I immediately cross paths with an opponent stronger than me. Then I randomly acquire a pendant from Hei Long, and now you tell me I have a damn dragon trapped inside this pendant? Either I have a protagonist's halo, or someone out there is messing with me for entertainment."
Nyx giggled, thoroughly amused by his rare moment of frustration. She walked over and sat beside him on the sofa, her dark eyes shimmering mischievously.
Ye Feng glanced at her, his lips curling into a devilish grin. "You're having a little too much fun with this. Looks like someone is asking for a spanking."
Nyx instantly stopped laughing. She straightened up, clearing her throat as she quickly adopted a serious expression. "Ahem, Master, I think it's nothing like what you said." She spoke with a deliberate, composed tone, as if she hadn't just been laughing a second ago. "From what I can deduce, the moment you inherited cultivation knowledge from that mysterious force, you became an anomaly. You aren't bound by fate. Everything around you is shifting away from its original path."
She paused to let the words sink in before continuing. "Take that cultivator, for example. If you weren't there that night, he would've gotten the ring. The same applies to this pendant—it would have eventually fallen into Hei Long's hands. If left undisturbed, the dragon would have continued absorbing Qi until it had enough to break free."
Ye Feng listened intently, his fingers tapping lightly against the armrest.
Then, out of nowhere, he burst into laughter.
A low, eerie chuckle at first, which slowly grew into something almost sinister. Nyx, who had been sitting comfortably beside him, felt a chill crawl down her spine.
"Master…?" she asked hesitantly.
Ye Feng turned to her, his grin wide, his eyes gleaming with excitement. To Nyx, it was anything but a reassuring smile.
"It's fucking great!" he exclaimed. "Not bound by fate? That means I don't have to worry about some damn protagonist coming after me! No predetermined destiny, no script—I can carve out my own path. Good. Good!"
He calmed down slightly and picked up the pendant again. "Now, tell me about this dragon. Where did it come from, and what should I do with it?"
Nyx collected her thoughts before replying, "I believe it's from another dimension. The energy it's using is completely foreign to this planet. Right now, it's absorbing Qi and storing it inside the pendant. The space within this artifact is a separate dimension filled with Qi so dense that it's almost in liquid form. The dragon is biding its time, waiting to break through to the next stage in a single leap."
She paused before adding, "Right now, it's at the Late Saint Stage. Once it advances to the Ascension Stage, it'll be able to break out. You have two choices, Master—either throw the pendant away or find someone at the Ascension Stage to suppress it. Also… there's something else you should know. This dragon is still in its adolescent phase. Once it matures, it will directly ascend to the Heavenly Tribulation Stage."
"So, how much time it will require to come out"Ye Feng asked, while thinking about something.
"About 3 years."
Ye Feng ran a hand through his hair, absorbing the information. "So, a dragon soul at the Late Saint Stage… and a ridiculous amount of Qi." He muttered, his eyes darkening as he gazed at the pendant with undisguised greed.
Nyx, observing his expression, suddenly had a bad feeling. "Master… what are you thinking?"
Ye Feng turned to her, his gaze traveling up and down her form before he let out a dramatic sigh. "What a pity."
Nyx blinked. "What pity, Master?" She tilted her head in confusion, looking almost adorable.
"It's a pity that I'm in such a great mood today. I wanted to give you a gift for sharing two wonderful pieces of information with me. But alas, you're too small to receive it. A real shame."
Nyx's eyes lit up at the mention of a gift. "Don't worry, Master! I'll accept any gift you give me!" she declared, stars practically shining in her eyes.
Ye Feng's smirk deepened as he slowly looked her up and down again, his gaze lingering. Then, with a teasing tone, he asked, "Are you sure?"
Nyx followed his gaze—and realization struck her like lightning. Her mind flashed back to his late-night activities with Li Yue. Her cheeks turned crimson as she quickly backtracked.
"I-I don't want your gift anymore! Give it to someone else!" she huffed, pouting.
Ye Feng chuckled at her reaction before slipping the pendant into his storage ring. Standing up, he stretched lazily. "Alright, let's get some sleep."
Nyx, still flustered, quickly followed him as they headed to bed. Soon, the room fell silent as both drifted into slumber.
Next day Ye Feng went to college as usual and sat at his usual place.
Sometime later Li Yue arrived, she looked towards Ye Feng , when Ye Feng felt her gaze he also turned towards her direction. Their gaze met and Ye Feng gave her a small smile, Li Yue wanted to walk to him and explain everything that happened but she hesitated , atlast she decided to leave the matter for class break , then she sighed and walked to her seat.
Ye Feng noticed the change in her behaviour, he thought for the reason behind this and soon he realised why was she giving him that look.
"So ,she found out the problem , this will be interesting,"he muttered with a smirk.
Soon, their morning classes started Ye Feng as usual was relaxing everything was going well for him but it was different case for Li Yue ,as the class break came near her anxiety increased. She wanted to confront him asking for an explaination, expecting that he may provide her a genuine reason for what he did but fearing that what if he just used her .
