5- PAST I CANNOT REMEMBER

LYRA'S POV

Kymon is driving the van through the bushes and Lyriq is sitting next to me, holding a gun to my abdomen with his face twisted into a scowl as he stares outside the window.

The most I know about Lyriq is that he speaks to no one but Kymon. I have heard the way he murders wolves, innocent and guilty. I don't know who's scarier, him or Kymon.

He has a sleeve of tattoos running up to his neck. The crown tattoo in the middle of the tribal one signifies he's the head of all Omegas.

He is grinding his teeth, clenching and unclenching his fists. Then his gaze snaps to Kymon.

" Taking her back isn't a good idea. It's obvious she has a pretty big mouth, only death can shut her up."

Kymon says nothing. He rests his elbow against the door and bites on a finger.

Lyriq releases a frustrated breath and continues staring out the window. I try not to move, knowing he's probably waiting for an opportunity to pull the trigger.

I don't move till the van is parked exactly where it was when I got kidnapped.

Kymon gets out of the car and opens the door close to me.

" Get out," He commands, his eyes trained on the gun Lyriq has placed on my abdomen.

I get down and he slams the door shut. Lyriq gets down too and Kymon goes to him. They are saying something to each other and I am looking around, contemplating if I should run or not. I don't move because I know even if Kymon doesn't kill me, Lyriq will.

After a minute, Kymon comes to me. He avoids my eyes when he says, " Lyriq will escort you to your place. I believe your dear parents are there worrying about you. Try to act smart and he wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet through both their heads."

I swallow. My eyes trail to Lyriq, who is impatiently staring at me. My parents? How are they here? They live in the far west and I stay by the east Coast of the pack because of college.

They must be so worried. But, how does Kymon know this?

" Work on trying to mind your business and we might never cross each other's path again." He says and stares at me for a while before he enters the van and drives off, leaving me and Lyriq together.

Fear hooks me in the throat as Lyriq's gaze moves from the van to me. His scowl doesn't soften in the slightest.

He looks away and starts walking, and I just follow him, making sure to maintain a good distance from him. I can't help but recall how he inhumanely gripped Bryn by the mouth as she struggled to wrench free.

I stare at the soil, trying to blink back tears, but the tears have already started pouring before I can stop them.

I know I've told her I hated her countless times. We've had our fights but I can't stop it from hurting so much. The thought that I will never see her again kills me.

" Oh shit," Lyriq growls, turning to look at me. " Must I hear you sulking?"

I bite my lower lip, trying to control my tears, but instead, they pour out even more. I shake as I watch Lyriq run a frustrated hand through his face.

" I'm sorry," I say because I'm not sure if he's going to kill me for crying so badly.

He stares at me for some seconds without uttering a word before mumbling something and then taking a handkerchief out of his pocket.

" I'm giving you two minutes. When you are done, wipe that shit off your face and if you are still crying, I will kill you." He says and places the handkerchief on my feet before walking behind a tree.

I sit under the tree he's staying behind and let all the tears out. Not just from Bryn's death but Zade's betrayal and everyone blaming me for what happened between us. For the past, I don't remember. For eighteen years of my life, that's unknown to me.

Crying isn't enough to burn down the agony. I have had people tell me of my life before my accident. Bryn, Dad, Mum, everyone but I don't have the faintest memory of those things. I only remember things they didn't tell me. Things that scare every inch of me.

" I gave you two minutes," Lyriq says impatiently, glaring down at me.

I sniff and use the handkerchief to dry my tears before standing up. I look at him and I can recognize his grey eyes perfectly now. He doesn't look like the deranged psychopath that was keen on murdering me a moment ago.

He releases a breath and continues walking and I follow him till we are standing in front of my dorm.

" This one?" He asks, pointing at my room door and I nod.

He backs away and gestures with his eyes for the door. I move my shaking feet to the front of the door and knock, and within a second, the door is flung open by my mother.

Her eyes filled with tears and expecting, morphed into shock as she caught sight of me.

"Lyra?" She cries out a pulls me into a hug. I desperately suck the sobs forming in my throat. " I was so worried about you."

She pulls away quickly, smiles up at me, and drags me into my room where Dad is standing in the middle of the room; Caspian is sitting by the bay window, and Jacob, my kid brother, is on his lap, face wrinkled from probably crying.

" Look, Lyra is here," Mum announces, and their shock-filled eyes snap to me.

Jacob jerks out of Caspian's grip and runs towards me before jumping on my body.

" Lee Lee, I'm sorry for cussing you the other day," He sobs, his voice breaking. " I was scared because of my big bad mouth something bad happened to you."

I can feel Lyriq's eyes on him, and I force a smile and carry him in my arms.

" Don't worry; big sister is fine, okay?" I say, reassuring him and he nods.

Dad opens his mouth to say something but Lyriq cuts him off by clearing his throat. He looks from Dad to me, Jacob, Mum, and a little bit longer at Caspian.

" Your daughter was trespassing into the human territory with her friend. She was alone by the time I found her. I asked her if she had come alone and she said yes. It wasn't until I got news of her friend's death that I knew she didn't come alone." He says and looks at me. " The Alpha would investigate who is behind her death. Meanwhile, I assure you that your daughter won't go unpunished."

I stare at Lyriq with wide eyes, not knowing if I should scream that he's lying. That he murdered Bryn. That I got kidnapped.

" Thank you, Omega Lyriq, for bringing my daughter back unharmed," Dad says, in a voice dripping with disappointment.

Lyriq nods and casts me one more cynical glance before leaving. With him gone, Mum collapses on the bed and Dad folds his arms around his chest.

" Going to the human territory. Are you serious, Lyra?" Dad says, now scowling at me.

I look down and shake my head. " I didn't mean to—"

" How can you be so careless? You know what those humans did to you before because of meddling with them—

My eyes snap up to him and something raw bubbles in me. " I don't, Dad. I have no freaking idea what they did to me—"

" Lyra don't cut your father off."

" I'm sorry," I say, trying to hold my tears. I shouldn't take my pain out on him. But it hurts so much, even as much as I try to control it. " Why can't you people talk to me without bringing up the past? Don't you think it's frustrating having people tell you whatever shit happened in your past and you can't remember a damn thing?"

Caspian gets to his feet when I start wheezing, and he places a hand on my back. " Calm down Lyra, it's going to be okay."

No, no it's not. I pull away from his grip, put Jacob on the floor, and leave the room, ignoring my parent calling my name.

Leaning against the wall beside my room, I run a hand through my hair. The pain surges within me as vague memories begin to flood into my vision.

*Which dress would he like Adena, pink or purple?*

*Listen, Adena, understand, we cannot be together. The moon goddess chose Freya as my mate.*

*Adena is responsible for her death!*

" Lyra!"

A gasp escapes my lips as I flinch with my hands gripping my ears.

Caspian pulls me from the wall and wraps his arms around me. " Breathe Lee, breathe."

" Why does this keep happening to me?" I wail, gripping him tightly afraid that if I let go, the pain might resurge.

" It's going to be alright." He pats my back. " I hate seeing you this way, Lee; please stop it."

I shake my head too quickly. " You don't understand. You don't get it and Bryn? Oh my goddess, Cas, Bree is gone."

" I know Lee, I know." His voice drops. " Whoever murdered her will be dealt with, I assure you."

My sov grows louder and I grip him more tightly. If he finds out Alpha Kymon is behind her death, I know he will leave no stones unturned to murder him. Caspian is responsible for the many attacks against Kymon over the past years since Caspian's sister was killed by Kymon.

He made it his motive to pay Kymon back. I have tried countless times to stop Caspian from this madness but he is beyond reason.
