Chapter 77: Of Cats and Mice

Valentius took off his shirt, sinking onto the grass. Amos was a beast now, and Valentius didn't want to do as the Archdemon asked.

Valentius grinned as he lay down on the grass.

Five years had passed, and he had trained under the best. First, Marek, who had gotten him through the tutorial, then with Amos and Nero.

The Naga felt a head on his stomach. Nero was just as sweaty as he was, just as out of breath.

"He is trying to kill us, I tell you," the Caesar murmured, not having the strength for anything but. "That petty pretty boy."

Valentius swatted Nero on the shoulder—something he would never have dared to do initially. But now, after five years spent training alongside the man, he felt bold.

"Well, he doesn't want us dead. If he did, he would have killed us by now," Valentius countered. Nero hummed, making himself comfortable.
