Nero didn't know what he expected when he was told that there was a Nightshade citizen living in the woods—a son of two herbalists.
But it all made sense now. The Naga, for there was no mistaking the fact that the boy had a tail instead of legs, must have at least one Naga parent.
The mother was from the line of the Eastern Caesars. If that were not the case, Emperor Constantine would not have protected the boy.
Nero knew what that meant. Neither of them was pure Nightshades. Neither of them had a claim to the throne.
But…
Did someone need to know? Or, maybe, Nero could claim that it had all been a part of his plan?
He wanted to bring the Naga back into the fold.
It wasn't like it would be a lie. There were still many of those shifters out there. Nero could guess that Valentius even knew where they were.
Wrath was coming.
They needed to fight for the world.
