Chapter 44

Damian lay beside her, watching her sleep, an unreadable emotion in his gaze.

"What a foolish girl," he murmured.

Leaning down, he placed a light kiss on her forehead before pulling her into his embrace.

Elena, however, was not a particularly still sleeper.

In her sleep, she shifted and wriggled, her hands reaching out aimlessly.

Damian let out a quiet sigh, his muscles tensing at the unexpected contact.

She had no idea what she was doing to him.

And once again, he found himself tormented by her, completely at her mercy.

Now that Damian was officially the person in charge of the Blackwell family, he knew he couldn't act impulsively toward Elena.

For the first time, he regretted not letting her return home the previous night.

Elena, on the other hand, slept soundly, completely unaware of the internal battle Damian had fought all night. Even a cold shower had barely cooled the fire within him.
