Digging Up Old Bones Part 2

Kanna, Ron, and Yoki storm the City Hall. The major Jorai waits for them with Kubala standing beside him along with another three officials. Kubala: "Kanna, now isn't the time to barge in!"

Kanna: "Then when is the best time to warn you about a RAID!!"

Jorai laughs, "By who? That group of dissatisfied knights, you can't call a bluff girl?! There is no way they were serious." Two officials laugh.

Ron: "Who put these clowns in charge?"

Official: "Hey you watch it boy."

Kanna gets up and grabs Jorai before pushing his face in front of the mirror. Jorai mutters, "I don't see anything." Kanna gives him binoculars and points. The mayor notices a collection of knights stampeding on fox-moose.

The politician panics, "Oooooouu, she's actually right. They are coming, we don't have the force for a battle."

Kanna puts her hands on her hips, "I've fought with the 31st Company. I'm no Macai but I was an officer. Let me take control and I'll make sure Gonzala is safe."

Official: "Very well Captain Foloki, you may take the reins." Kanna, Ron, and Yoki scurry outside. Kanna waits to see how many soldiers are ready to go. For the frontline, she sees four swordsmen, two firebenders (one male and one female), and two fighters with shields & maces. One archer stands on a roof left and right of their position.

Kanna looks at Yoki and Ron, "This isn't much of a force, but it will do. Line up in standard formation. Yoki and Ron, you are my reserve force. You can fight with me on the ground for now but be ready if I need to send you somewhere."

Ron nods, "Yes mam."

Yoki: "You got it sus." (War Drums Music- Drums of the Horde- Music Starts) Twelve riders' barge at them. The army archers waste no time in opening fire, but the shots bounce right off their armor.

Army archer: "I can't pierce anything; their armor is too thick!!" The fighters gallop onwards at a swift 40 miles an hour. Kanna notices two catapults reeled in by army troopers.

Ron grins, "That'll help."

Kanna yells, "Bombs away boys!!" Two horsemen are blown away by fiery torpedoes. Kanna points, "Sword fighters get in front, shields stand in the middle, and firebenders get in the back. Ron get behind them but wait to the left, Yoki wait at the far right, I'll wait in the back of the center."

Swordsman: "Trying to protect yourself?"

Kanna: "No, I will jump in directly when the time is needed, now follow your orders." The soldiers get in their respective positions." Kanna yells "Code 11!" The firebenders sway their hands and generate smoke which conceals their position. Kanna repeats, "Code 2-4-3."

The firebender stomp their feet and launch two fire missiles above the front three riders which are just 20 feet from their location. The balls explode and drop sparks that disorient the riders. Small sparks poke against their armor, but they are durable and keep going. The men simply gallop harder after them.

Kanna is briefly discouraged, "Uh, that wasn't what I hoping for. If only we had spear soldiers. I have another idea, both of you (to the benders), fire flames at me."

Firebender: "What? Are you sure?"

Kanna: "Do it trooper! Trust me, you don't have anything to lose." Both firebenders push orange-yellow flames at her. Kanna rotates and gathers the flames while emitting her own. A tremendous atmosphere of flames encircles her, and the young woman hurls it in the air.

A potent fire torpedo smashes through five of the riders and demolishes them. The other five riders step in. Kanna yells, "Benders, Yoki, Ron, fire at will!!" Ron shoots an arrow into a rider's visor, and he is trampled by his own beast. Yoki hurls several stones into another galloper.

Kanna kicks a flame into a mounter. Two army swordsmen are cut down. One duelist shots, "Kanna do something?!" Foloki lunges in the air and blasts both riders several feet off their animals with a fire whirlwind. Kanna takes one of the creatures captive as the other runs off.

Kanna subdues it, "There there buddy." Kanna turns and faces the direction of the attackers, "I know more will come soon."

Yoki: "That went surprisingly well." Two knight archers scale the rooftops on the left and another two move on the right. They move a bit slower than other archers but have increased protection from their dark grey armor and helmets.

Kanna signals, "Yoki, cover the high left flank. Ron, go high right." Kanna sees around two dozen knights charging with just shields and melee weapons (mostly swords). Kanna looks at the catapultiers and firebenders, "Burn them at will."

Two catapults are flung and annihilate four soldiers. The two army archer shoot arrows at the knight archers but they land in the wrong places and their arrows bounce off. The knight sharpshooters return fire and dispatch the army soldiers. Kanna swirls up a large orb of flames and bowls it into four knights.

The ball blows up and drops them like pins. Kanna signals for the two shield and mace troopers to fill the gaps in the frontline with the two sword users. Four army soldiers with glaives emerge to fill their ranks, "We're your relief."

Kanna: "Steps in the second line." Kanna orders the two firebenders to pull back in the third line with her. Ron stands across two archers who promptly open fire. Ron ducks under an arrow and slips behind cover. Ron raises his head and shoots an arrow into the right archer's visor.

The left archer returns fire and pins him down. Yoki sights her archer and kicks a block of the roof in the air before hurling it into both of the bowmen. She notices the other archer firing at her boyfriend and caves the ceiling he is standing on. About sixteen knights clash head on with Kanna's team of ten army troopers on the ground but that doesn't count the two catapultiers who are out of range.

An army swordsman diagonally slashes a knight. A different knight blocks a sword swipe and impales an army duelist. One of the mace & shield army men bashes a knight across the head while the other mace & shield fighter is impaled by a spear wielding knight.

A knight is dropped by a flame but a fireball from the other army bender is easily absorbed by a shield. One of the glaive army soldiers hacks a knight's throat. A glaive trooper thrusts his weapon at a knight, but the soldier butts the weapon left with his barrier before stepping forward and slashing his opponent. The seven remaining army troops still go back and forth with the twelve knights.

Kanna decides to help even the opens by pulling her right hand back before throwing an incendiary flame fist it into a knight and swatting it right to finish a second one. The ten knights seem to stalemate the seven army troopers, and they fight too closely for the catapultiers to take more shots.

Chief Major Galka-Jo emerges. He is a 5'11 with gold armor and a lengthy double-bladed sword. [Troy- Achilles Leads the Myrmidons (Music Starts)] Galka-Jo: "Ah, if it isn't the 31st scout! I'll shred you to pieces."

Kanna replies, "We'll see about that." The man dives at Kanna before slashing sideways at her. Foloki jumps behind him. The man repositions and swings higher at her head. The proxy ducks and kicks a fireball into his lungs. Kanna: "That wasn't too bad."

A few moments later, the leader of the organization emerges. It is Grand Master Knight Rankin who is 6'4 and has platinum battle armor, "Kanna Foloki, it seems fate has made our paths cross. This will be a battle of two ideologies. Those who embrace change and those who oppose it."

Kanna: "Fair enough, let's get this over with."

Rankin: "You are deceiving Kanna, you seem sweet on the outside. But within you are brave, daring, and relentless. You have my respect."

Kanna: "Let's not have a compliment fest before we try to kill each other."

Rankin: "And you have spite deep within you. Imagine if you used that more, you'd be an animal. Perhaps as dangerous as Macai."

Kanna: "I don't need spite to be dangerous." Rankin flips at her and swoops down with a heavy slash. Kanna zips right and kicks a fire whip at him. Rankin shifts his blade to meet the blast presses his blade at Kanna's midsection.

Young Foloki jumps on Rankin's sword the leaps off and double kicks a fire swirl at him. Rankin readjusts his sword and blocks the blast which explodes as he does. The knight's armor takes any indirect damage that comes, and he presses at her again but does so in a more composed manner than most of her enemies.

Rankin swings right but doesn't overextend. Kanna pivots back then steps forward and the blade master hacks his weapon diagonally which forces her to step back yet again. Rankin is a true master duelist like none she's ever seen, he makes it difficult for her to get comfortable.

Kanna decides to punch and kick three flames in total at him. Rankin blocks the first two effortlessly, but the third fireball hits his right shoulder. Rankin takes the blow but wishes he didn't. The platinum armored fighter storms at her and cuts at her feet.

Kanna jumps and spins left before generating two short fire swords. Kanna slashes her right blade against Rankin's which burns him and forces the man to hold his blade right. Rankin does not let go of his sword out of fear he will lose his defensive advantage, but the delay gives Kanna time to act.

Miss Foloki strides right and kicks a flame cube at him. Rankin blocks the blast vertically. Kanna rushes in and Rankin clamps his blade down at her. The proxy spins left and Rankin lunges at her gut.

Again, Kanna pulls back. Foloki pulls her arms back and zaps a fire stream at him. Rankin shifts his weapon sideways and blocks the shot. The swordsman concentrates and musters his strength as he holds the blast back, but he cannot muster the force to redirect Kanna's beam which is so unstable.

They both stop and Kanna comments, "You force has failed Rankin, perhaps it's time you call it a day."

Rankin nods, "Perhaps you are right, this is not the last of the Reclamation Order. You will see us again. Rankin signals for his knights to stand down and retreat. He does the same.

The next day Kanna, Yoki, and Ron read newspapers at her patio. Ron: "I can't believe an order of knights are fighting just because of technology. They must have loved Zerrel."

Yoki interrupts, "Not necessarily."

Kanna: "Yoki is right, these knights saw Zerrel as a hypocrite. And interestingly enough, none of them appear to be benders."

Ron: "That doesn't take away from their danger factor. That's one up for the nonbenders."

Kanna: "Yes, it is. Rankin is an outstanding duelist; I have to give him credit. Soon enough, they'll get what's coming to them. But until then, Gonzala can sleep easy knowing that it is protected by people that deeply love it."
