Rox drove like a complete maniac. Kara clung to her seat for dear life, her knuckles turning white as the car swerved dangerously around corners.
"Can you slow down?" she yelled over the roar of the engine.
In response, Rox pressed the accelerator harder, the car surging forward.
When he finally slammed on the brakes, the force sent Kara's forehead crashing against the dashboard, seatbelt or not.
"God, you're a psycho!" she spat, rubbing the red spot between her brows.
Rox smirked, unbothered. "You're going to regret saying that later."
Kara groaned, glancing out the window. They weren't even at school yet, they were a couple of blocks away.
"Why are you dropping me off here?" she asked as she climbed out of the car.
He leaned against the driver's side, his expression unreadable. "I don't want people thinking we're related or worse, that you're my girlfriend."
She scrunched her nose in mock disgust. "Ew! Trust me, it's horrible to even be indirectly involved with you, let alone be your girlfriend. Gross."
Rox's lips twitched, but his voice remained sharp. "Why? You wanna crash this car too?"
"Nice Bugatti, by the way," she shot back, ignoring the jab.
His eyes narrowed, dark and dangerous. "I was just being nice," she added quickly, raising her hands in mock surrender.
Kara couldn't help but notice how infuriatingly handsome he looked when he wasn't being a complete jerk.
His dark brown eyes were sharp and captivating, drawing her in for a moment too long.
"Are you done ogling me, you pervert?" he snapped, breaking her trance with a smug smirk.
Her cheeks burned as she swatted the air. "I wasn't ogling you, you dipshit. There was a bug."
"Sure there was," he chuckled, clearly enjoying her embarrassment.
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Just be here after school, okay?"
"Yes, Mommy," he drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Eww!" she shot back, flipping him off as he drove away.
Taking another route to school, Kara sighed, her thoughts swirling. "Damn, he must really dislike me," she muttered to herself. "Not that I care or anything."
