Chapter 24:The Jersey Revelation

"Okay, freaking spill as to why you're wearing the jersey of one of the gods of this school," Dolly squealed.

Erica looked worried as they strolled to their lockers. "That will attract a lot of negative attention I don't want to be involved in."

Kara knew she couldn't tell them about her relationship with Rox. He would kill her. Literally. "I'll tell you guys when the time is right."

"You better not be having an affair with him," Erica exclaimed.

Dolly gave a dramatic sigh. "An affair! Kara, you bad girl."

Kara snickered. Trust me, he'd kill me before we had an affair, she thought.

They looked at each other, then erupted with laughter. "Hell nah, you sounded old when you said affair," Kara drawled.

Erica giggled. "I know, right? It sounded so weird, like you're sleeping with the president behind his wife's back."

Shaking her head, Kara opened her locker. "You give me way too much credit, Erica."

The laughter stopped when they spotted the three blonde devils talking animatedly in the main hallway. As soon as the girls noticed them, they gave them the stink eye.

Kara recognized that look anywhere. "Guys, I think we should take the other route."

Erica frowned. "What? Are you afraid of them?"

Yes, Kara thought, but she chuckled nervously. "Not really. I'd rather just avoid trouble."

"Well, no shit, I'm afraid of them," Dolly mumbled, pulling Erica and Kara in another direction.

Rolling her eyes, Erica chewed on her bottom lip. "I'm ready to beat their ass any day they mess with you."

Dolly glanced at Kara, then at Erica. "We look like the Powerpuff Girls," she giggled.

Then, noticing their hair colors, they burst into laughter. "Blossom!" Kara screamed, stretching her hand to the middle.

"Bubbles," Dolly grinned, placing her hand on Kara's.

Erica glared at them but eventually broke into a giggle. "Buttercup."

Together, they chanted, "We are the Powerpuff Girls, dedicating our lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!"

Their laughter echoed through the hallway, drawing curious looks from other students.

"You're pretty when you smile," Dolly acknowledged.

Erica's smile faded, replaced with her usual cold expression as she turned back to her locker.

The silence was awkward. "Did I say something wrong?" Dolly asked innocently.

Erica slammed her locker shut. "Nothing. See you tomorrow."

As she walked away, Dolly looked guilty. "What gives?"

Kara shrugged, raising her hands. "I don't know. I guess smiling isn't her thing."

Dolly's eyes teared up. "I must have upset her."

Kara placed her hands on Dolly's shoulders. "Not at all, Dolly. You're just a sweetheart, okay? Don't think too much about it."

Dolly beamed. "Are you going my way? We could walk together."

Laughing nervously, Kara thought of an excuse. "My house is to the right."

"Mine's left. Yikes," Dolly sighed.

After giving Kara a hug, Dolly bounced out of the school building.

Kara took the back entrance, her mind racing. Now, all she had to do was wait for her enemy.
