A suffocating silence engulfed the vast white space.
Naruto Uzumaki slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurry and unfocused. His head throbbed as if he had just awakened from a deep, dreamless sleep. Blinking rapidly, he tried to make sense of his surroundings, but the world around him was nothing but an endless expanse of white. There were no walls, no sky, no ground—just an infinite void stretching as far as his eyes could see.
"Where… is this?" Naruto muttered, his voice echoing slightly. A sudden realization struck him like a thunderbolt, sending a chill down his spine. "Wait… didn't I die?"
Memories flooded his mind. The battle with Kawaki. The desperate struggle. The moment when he stood before his son, arms spread wide, shielding Boruto from the fatal blow. The blinding pain that followed, then darkness.
Naruto clenched his fists. He remembered it all. His last breath. His fading consciousness. There was no mistaking it—he had died. And yet, here he was.
"Is anyone there?!" he shouted into the emptiness. His voice carried but received no response. The silence pressed down on him like a heavy weight.
His mind reeled. "Is this heaven? Or… something else?"
As he struggled to make sense of his predicament, his thoughts drifted to his past. His life, filled with hardships, triumphs, and regrets, played out in his mind like a fast-forwarded movie.
Born as an orphan, he endured years of loneliness, scorned by the very villagers he swore to protect. But through sheer determination, he carved a place for himself in the world.
He recalled the warmth of Iruka-sensei's approval, the exhilaration of becoming a Genin, the friendships he forged with Sasuke and Sakura, and the lessons learned under Kakashi's watchful eye. His battles against Zabuza and Haku, the Chūnin Exams where he defied fate against Neji, and the countless struggles against powerful enemies.
Jiraiya. His mentor, his guide, his father figure. Naruto's heart ached at the memory of losing him.
He remembered mastering Sage Mode, defeating Pain, bringing peace to Konoha, and ultimately fulfilling his dream of becoming Hokage. His marriage to Hinata, the birth of Boruto and Himawari, the bonds he strengthened over the years.
Then came the Ōtsutsuki clan.
They were unlike anything he had ever faced. Powerful beyond measure. Ruthless. Merciless. Kaguya was only the beginning.
Isshiki. Code. Eida. Daemon. Enemies who pushed him to the edge, forcing him to make the ultimate sacrifices. He had lost Kurama, his lifelong companion, in the fight against Isshiki. Sasuke had lost his Rinnegan to Boruto, who had been manipulated by Momoshiki.
Then, Kawaki.
Kawaki, his adopted son, whom he had once believed in. A child burdened by his past, twisted by forces beyond his control.
The Fifth Ninja War erupted in flames. Konoha fell into chaos. One by one, his comrades perished. Iruka. Kakashi. Gaara. Shikamaru. Hinata. His beloved daughter, Himawari. He had watched them all fall.
In the end, only he and Boruto remained, standing against a world that had already crumbled.
And then… he died.
Naruto exhaled sharply, gripping his chest as if the pain of that moment still lingered. He looked up at the void, his blue eyes burning with unspoken grief.
"Boruto… what happened to you? Did you win? Did you save the world?"
A deep voice suddenly resonated through the empty space. "No, he did not."
Naruto's breath hitched. He turned toward the sound, his body tensing. Before him, a figure materialized from the void—a wise, ancient presence with piercing Rinnegan eyes and a long, flowing beard.
"Sage of Six Paths?!" Naruto gasped.
Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki gazed at him solemnly. "We meet again, Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto immediately stepped forward, desperation gripping his heart. "Tell me! What happened? Did Boruto stop Kawaki? Did he save the ninja world?!"
Hagoromo's expression remained unreadable. "The battle ended in failure. Boruto and Kawaki fought bravely, but in the end, both fell to the power of the Ōtsutsuki. They became vessels—mere tools in a greater scheme."
Naruto's entire body went cold. "No… That can't be… The Great Toad Sage prophesied that Boruto would change the world! That he would be the savior!"
Hagoromo nodded. "And the prophecy was correct. But fate is not so easily swayed. The path Boruto walked was paved with pain and sacrifice, just as yours was. However, destiny is not always kind. His strength alone was not enough."
Naruto dropped to his knees, his fingers digging into the fabric of his pants. "Then what was the point? Everything… everyone… gone? It was all for nothing?!"
The Sage of Six Paths extended his hand, palm glowing with an otherworldly light. In his left hand, an eye—pulsing with untold power. In his right, a shimmering relic, imbued with an aura of time itself.
"Naruto Uzumaki, I offer you a choice."
Naruto raised his head, his eyes filled with desperation. "A choice?"
Hagoromo nodded. "I hold the Reincarnation Eye in my left hand and the Time-Space Noble Phantasm, 'Plough,' in my right. With these, I can send you back—to a time before everything collapsed. To a point where you may alter the course of history."
Naruto's breath caught in his throat. "You mean… I can go back? Change everything? Save them all?"
Hagoromo's eyes bore into him. "Yes. But at a cost. Your past power will not return instantly. You will need to rebuild your strength. Every decision will carry weight, every action a consequence. If you accept, you will be reborn, and your journey will begin anew."
Naruto's heart pounded. A second chance. A way to undo the tragedies that had unfolded before his eyes.
His grip tightened, his eyes filled with unshakable resolve. "I don't care what it takes. I'll throw away my principles if I have to. I will protect everyone, no matter the cost! This time, I won't let anyone die!"
Hagoromo smiled faintly, his eyes glimmering with something akin to approval. "Very well. Then rise, Naruto Uzumaki. Your journey begins again."
A brilliant light engulfed him, and the world began to shift. As the void collapsed around him, Naruto heard one final whisper.
"This time… save Jiraiya first."
