Chapter 5

When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the hospital.

The strong smell of disinfectant made my head ache.

My best friend was sitting by the bedside, holding my hand, which was trembling non-stop.

I had a rough guess of what had happened in my mind.

I smiled, patted the back of her hand, and comforted her:

"Is my eyesight completely beyond saving now?"

"It's okay, I expected this. Besides, I've gotten used to it over all these years. It's no big deal."

"I have you and Finny, that's enough for me."

As I spoke, my best friend buried her face in the hospital bed and began to sob uncontrollably.

After a long while, she finally spoke again, her tone sad and tinged with a hint of fear:

"Aria... the doctor said there's still a chance for your eyes..."

"But... but..."

She suddenly broke down in tears, her throat feeling like it had a needle stuck in it, making it difficult to form complete sentences.

"Finny... Finny.. is dead."

"Killed... by... Fintan."
