Chapter 4

Her wrist was red from his grip. She forcefully pried his fingers off and said, "Yeah, I'm here for the money."

"Oh really? Are you going to pay me?"

He sneered, pushing her into a corner of the room, standing behind her.

"Yeah, I'll give you money."

"Just walk ten steps in this direction without stopping, and I'll give you money. As much as you want."

"Simple, right?"

People around them started gathering to watch the spectacle.

She knew that after ten steps, there was a wall with sharp decorations sticking out of it.

When they entered, Finny had led her there to feel it.

The nerves in her eyes were severed, so she couldn't feel pain, but if a foreign object pierced them, they might die completely.

But without money, her eyes would meet the same fate.

She had no choice.

Seeing her hesitate, Fintan's gaze flashed with contempt. He was about to mock her when she turned her head and said to him:

"Can I not pay it back?"

He paused, then stepped closer, gritting his teeth: "Sure."

She turned back, taking steps forward without hesitation.

At that moment, she was even grateful for being blind. Not seeing meant not being afraid.

Everyone watched with mocking smiles, except for Fintan, whose gaze was extremely gloomy, his thin lips pressed tightly together. He was extremely nervous.

On the ninth step, the needle's tip pierced the eye socket, and a drop of liquid slid down his cheek.

It resembled a tear, but had the metallic scent of blood.

Everyone couldn't help but gasp.

But only nine steps had been taken, with one final step remaining.

I let out a bitter laugh, preparing to continue, but just as I lifted my foot, someone yanked me back by my clothes.

I collided with a familiar chest, hearing Fintan's furious voice in my ear.

"Aria? Have you lost your fucking mind? You'd throw your life away for money?!"

I pushed him away, saying coldly:

"You said ten steps."

"There's still one left, isn't there?"

Fintan, enraged, shoved me away and yelled:

"Fine then, go ahead! If you really want to go blind, be my guest!"

"Aria, I'm warning you to think this through. Being blind isn't a walk in the park."

The blood on my face trickled down my neck to my heart, causing a slight ache.

How hard it is to be blind, I know better than you.

You only experienced it for 3 days, but I lived it for a full three years.

I smiled and continued forward, but on the final step, Finny firmly clamped his teeth onto my pant leg.

He dug in his heels, refusing to let go no matter what. The scene had reached a stalemate. Seeing this, Fallon stepped forward, took Fintan's hand, and tried to reason with him:

"Fintan, stop this nonsense. It'll be terrible if someone ends up dead."

She then started walking towards me, but halfway there, she tripped and fell.

As she went down, she crashed into my back, completing the final step.

However, the angle was off, and instead of piercing my eye socket, it pierced my head.

The intense pain made my legs give out, and I collapsed to the floor.

As soon as I hit the ground, a pair of sharp nails dug viciously into my flesh.

My best friend, who had rushed over after receiving the news, walked in to find me lying on the floor, my face covered in blood.

Horrified, she helped me up and shouted at Fintan:

"Fintan, have you lost your humanity?! Back then, Aria gave up her future and donated her eyes to you. She's been struggling with a cane ever since, and just when she finally got a donation, you destroyed her eyes!"

Hearing her screams, Fintan froze on the spot.
