"Is that her boyfriend?"
The sun blazed overhead at Linda University, but at that moment, the hearts of the boys in Class 4 felt ice-cold.
Feng Nanshu was the undisputed fairy of Class 4. From the moment she appeared yesterday, she'd bewitched every guy in the class. Her presence alone made boys from other classes green with envy, lamenting, "Why the hell didn't I get put in Class 4?"
Hearing that so often, the guys in Class 4 developed a strange sense of pride —— like being assigned to their class was some badge of honor.
Sure, she ignored every guy who tried talking to her, but that only made more of them see her as a goddess.
Guys are such suckers, huh?
She's amazing, and the harder she is to get, the more I think she's amazing!
But now, this fairy-like girl was willingly sitting next to some jerk from the next class, looking all sweet and chatting with a smile.
That's when it hit them: Oh, the girl we've been so proud of belonged to someone else from the start. We were just hyping ourselves up. This hurts like hell.
And so, the pure-love warriors fell one by one.
Meanwhile, Cao Guangyu, Zhou Chao, and Ren Ziqiang felt like they'd been zapped from head to toe.
They stared at Jiang Qin with complicated expressions, the sting of life's unfairness hitting them square in the chest—again, just like yesterday.
No wonder he didn't bat an eye at Hong Yan or walked off on Chu Siqi without a care. You have no idea how many beauties this guy knows —— it's like he's collecting stamps!
Cao Guangyu couldn't help recalling how, just an hour ago, he'd dragged Jiang Qin to Class 4 to see the "beauty ceiling," hyping her up like she was heaven-sent. That jerk Jiang Qin must've been smirking inside.
That's his girl —— he can see her whenever he wants. Does he need me to hype her up?
Damn it, he's not really gonna make me eat shit, is he?
Cao Guangyu swallowed hard, feeling like he'd lost all face —— straight to his grandma's house.
Never compare with him again.
This guy, who claimed to be "solo since the womb" at the start of the semester, was absolutely unbeatable when it came to romance!
Just then, Jiang Qin remembered something and turned to Song Qingqing, who'd approached earlier. "Splashed awake yet?"
"…"
Song Qingqing tugged at her lips, intending to flash a confident smile, say "No big deal," and turn away coolly. But she couldn't muster it —— she was the one who felt laughable.
What was it Pan Xiu, that little snake, had said?
Jiang Qin chased a girl for three years and got rejected when he confessed?
She'd actually believed it, strutting over all high and mighty to rub salt in his wounds, telling him he couldn't chase her and to stop dreaming. Thinking about it now, she wanted to die of embarrassment.
Pan Xiu's face went pale too as she whipped around to Ren Ziqiang. "You made that story up?"
Ren Ziqiang waved his hands frantically. "No, Old Jiang made it up! I get it now —— eleven out of ten things he says are fake. This guy's a total enigma!"
"Pan Xiu, what'd Ren Ziqiang say?"
"He said Jiang Qin's an enigma!"
"Pass it down —— Jiang Qin's deep and mysterious."
"Heard that? Jiang Qin hooked up with a model!"
"Holy crap, Jiang Qin's keeping a model on the side off-campus!"
"…"
After a moment, Feng Nanshu said, "I'm heading back," and stood up, walking back to Class 4's formation with light, cheerful steps. Meanwhile, all the guys' smiles had shifted onto Jiang Qin's face.
"Yeah, it's kinda satisfying."
Jiang Qin admitted it openly —— he'd definitely been showing off a little just now.
Over the next three days, the freshmen endured training in marching, goose-stepping, and jogging, getting roasted under the sun like African chickens.
The weather played along perfectly —— not a drop of rain in sight.
Cao Guangyu was the first to crack. A pampered rich kid like him couldn't handle this kind of torture, so he spent his days in the dorm cursing up a storm and even chanting for rain like it was a spell.
Jiang Qin got fed up with his whining and quietly gave him a tip.
The next day, Cao Guangyu asked his family for 1,500 yuan, snuck off to the hospital during the afternoon break for a circumcision, and used the medical note to get a leave from the instructor.
"Old Jiang, your idea's freaking genius! The instructor actually let me rest!"
"Yep, now you're a man with some flair. Act mature —— stop yelling all the time."
Jiang Qin shooed him off and went back to his Website Operations Manual, only to get a text from Su Nai.
She said the website was mostly done —— aside from some unoptimized parts, it was basically ready to launch. She asked if he had time and invited him to the library for a preliminary review.
After changing, Jiang Qin made his way to the third floor of the library and entered the humanities and social sciences reading room.
Su Nai had already logged into the website's backend. Without a word, she started showing off the homepage, demonstrating three secondary page transitions and two different post-display styles.
Jiang Qin watched and felt pretty satisfied.
Honestly, the key to product design isn't just technical skill—it's comprehension.
With 80% technical ability and 100% understanding, you can make a product that meets 80% of the client's needs. But with 100% tech and less than 50% comprehension, you might not even crank out a half-decent prototype.
Luckily, Su Nai had both skills in spades, nailing nearly every detail to Jiang Qin's liking.
Clear navigation, clean layout, no overly flashy transitions bogging down response time, and a simple structure letting users jump straight to what they cared about.
"The finished parts look great. What's still left?"
"Load testing and security testing aren't done yet, and the scantily clad lady pop-ups aren't fully implemented," Su Nai answered honestly.
Jiang Qin rubbed his chin. "So, it's basically ready to go live now?"
Su Nai adjusted her glasses. "It can go live. We can handle the optimizations step-by-step later."
"Then launch it. I'll find people to fill it with content later. Once there's enough, I'll start promoting it. Can the optimizations be done before the promotion?"
"No problem at all."
Jiang Qin shifted his gaze from the screen to Su Nai, staring for a bit. "Did you… go thieving last night? Those dark circles are brutal."
Su Nai coughed and quickly ducked her head. "Senior, building a site takes a lot of mental energy. To get it right, I stayed up a bit late. It's no big deal —— don't worry."
"I told you five days was fine. Why rush it in three? You're not trying to guilt me into paying extra, are you?"
"No, no, no! This is my first solo commercial web design —— I had to take it seriously. I worked while cross-referencing textbooks to get the best result. Plus, you said if it's good, you'd give me all the maintenance work too. I got excited and… uh, got carried away."
Jiang Qin went quiet for three seconds, then clicked his tongue. "Junior, I suggest you cut back."
Su Nai's head snapped up, cheeks flaming red. "Senior, don't talk nonsense —— I didn't look!"
"I meant the textbooks."
"Oh, oh, the textbooks! Haha…" Su Nai rubbed her hands and pushed up her glasses.
Jiang Qin suddenly dropped his hand from his chin. "Could we add a video section too? Is that tough technically?"
"Not tough at all. The playback's simple —— just upload the right format and embed the server code."
"Any lag issues?"
"Never seen any. But there's this annoying ad at the start—something about sexy dealers dealing cards online."
Her voice faltered mid-sentence as she realized she'd walked into a trap. Her mouth dropped open, and she froze. "I meant… uh, tutorial videos for building sites. You believe me, right?"
Jiang Qin nodded solemnly. "Cut back —— it's bad for you."
"Wuu…"
