Chapter 3 – What Doesn’t Kill Me…Almost Did

The Downside of Being a Wanted Man

I barely lasted a day before some bounty-hunting a**hole found me.

And he didn't waste time talking.

The moment I stepped into the village inn, a f*cking sword was already at my throat.

"Well, well. Look what we have here."

I froze. Sh*t.

A tall guy in full leather armor grinned down at me. Scars on his face, a dagger at his waist, and a very punchable f*cking expression.

"Lord Leonis Veldra. The runaway villain himself. You just made me a rich man, kid."

---

A One-Sided Beating

I didn't even get to curse before his fist slammed into my stomach.

"Gah—!"

I doubled over.

Another punch to the face. Then a kick to the ribs.

The guy wasn't even trying to kill me. He was playing with me.

"What's the matter, noble boy?" he sneered. "Where's that big bad villain energy now?"

I gasped for air, trying to think. This wasn't in the f*cking game!

---

[WARNING: YOU ARE DYING]

As I coughed up blood, a weird chill ran through my body.

I felt…

Wrong.

Like something inside me was breaking apart.

Then—

I heard my own voice in my head.

"I don't want to die."

The words echoed through my skull. My vision turned red.

And then—

I lunged.

---

Fangs in the Dark

The bounty hunter's grin disappeared when I sank my f*cking teeth into his arm.

"WHAT THE—?!"

Blood hit my tongue.

Fire exploded through my veins.

For one moment, I felt like a goddamn monster.

Stronger. Faster. Unstoppable.

I twisted his arm like it was nothing and slammed him into a table, cracking the wood.

The entire inn went dead silent.

---

Oh Sh*t, I'm a Vampire?!

The bounty hunter groaned on the floor.

I stood there, panting, staring at my own bloodstained hands.

What the f*ck just happened?!

One second, I was getting my ass kicked.

The next?

I had bitten a man like a goddamn animal.

I wiped my mouth, heart pounding. My strength was already fading.

But I knew one thing—

If I drank more, I'd get stronger again.

I glanced at the injured bounty hunter.

And for some reason…

I wanted more.

---

The Hunger – A New Instinct

I stood there, panting, staring at my bloodstained hands.

The bounty hunter groaned on the floor, clutching his bleeding arm.

I could still taste it—his blood, hot and rich with power.

For a few seconds, I had felt… unstoppable.

Stronger than ever.

Faster than I should be.

And now?

That power was already fading.

I clenched my fists.

I want it back.

---

Another Sip Couldn't Hurt… Right?

My head felt clouded, but my instincts were screaming at me.

More blood.

Just a little more, and I'd get that strength again.

I took a shaky step toward the bounty hunter.

His eyes widened in panic. "S-Stay the f*ck away!"

He tried to crawl backward, but his bleeding arm was useless.

I crouched down, gripping his shirt. "Sorry, buddy. I need to test something."

"WAIT—!"

I sank my teeth into his neck.

---

Power Flooding In – A Glimpse of the Monster

The moment his blood hit my tongue, my body exploded with energy.

My wounds sealed instantly.

My muscles tightened.

My vision sharpened, and for a second—just a second—

I felt like I could tear apart this whole f*cking room.

This is it. This is my real power.

This is what I should have had in the game.

---

And Then… It Faded.

As fast as it came, the power vanished.

The insane strength, the inhuman speed—all of it melted away.

I stumbled back, gasping for air.

What the f*ck?

I still felt stronger than before, but not as strong as I did a second ago.

Like my body had tasted true power—but couldn't hold onto it.

I wiped my mouth, licking the last drop of blood from my lips.

This ability…

It wasn't permanent.

---

My Ability – A Rough Guess

✔ Drinking blood gives me insane power… but only temporarily.

✔ The stronger the opponent, the bigger the boost.

✔ My body isn't used to it yet—I can't hold onto the strength for long.

That means…

If I drink enough blood, and from stronger enemies—

I can become unstoppable.

I grinned.

This changes everything.

---

The Aftermath – Time to F*cking Run

I glanced at the half-conscious bounty hunter on the floor.

Yeah, I should probably get the hell out of here.

I stood up, cracking my neck. "Thanks for the meal, dumbass."

Then, I grabbed my stolen coat and bolted out the door.

The innkeeper screamed. "GUARDS! HE'S A F*CKING MONSTER!"

…Sh*t.

Time to run.
