16. Solaris Bank Investment
The huge building looked unkept and it's four front pillars slightly cracked. In most floors of the tower there was a Solaris Bank or at least a small branch of it, the one on the first floor was in a poor degradable state due to simple reasons.
Who in their right sense of mind use a bank in a game like world. Coins were hard to make as it was and they would be used to purchase gears, maps, information and potions. For the first twenty levels banks were not even part of the main story, why would a player need one when they could just carry all their gold coins in their systems.
The existence of the bank was merely a laughable concept among players, they saw it as a means to make the game world feel more realistic. But of course the bank on the first floor was useless since it was in such terrible state that it could not be accessed.
Even if it was accessible, no one would use it. Except they wanted to rob it, perhaps this was why the bank wo shut down on the first level on neon Solaris.
But Matteo had a way of getting into the bank, it was with the help of the bank key, the grade A item he had gotten from the fortune teller.
Matteo did not bother looking around for who saw him, he walked up to the huge bank doors and ran his finger down the door, his finger came back covered in dust. He removed the golden key from his pocket and stuck it into the key hole. It's slid in effortlessly as expected, Matteo turned it and it clicked.
A bright gold light emanated from the door, it slowly climbed up his body like liquid and soon enveloped him fully. By the time it vanished he found himself by the other side of the door. He was inside the Solaris Bank.
The inside was massive and tiled, it had a chandelier and a huge counter. It would have sang songs of grandeur if not for it being covered in cobwebs and dust.
A ding sound was heard above his head and soon a man and a woman came running out from inside the bank, the man cried.
"A customer? How the hell do we have a customer?"
The woman he wore a black suit and skirt that touched her knee. She had white hair that was packed neatly with a silver pin, her face e a mix of shock as the man's. "I don't know, we should not even be running now."
The man reached Matteo, he was a idle aged man with a right suit and tie, he looked unkept and reeked of alcohol. "Hi, um kid. I'm sorry but this bank is inoperable."
Matteo tucked his hands away in his body and spoke in a commanding voice. "Where's your manager, I'm here to do business with him or see, whichever applies to you NPC's."
They both looked at him with confusion in their eyes.
"This bank does not run under a manger, why do you think we shot down." The man sobbed, clearly he was under a lot of stress.
Matteo took no interest in his emotional decay and turned to face the more controlled woman to his right. "Alright you poorly written NPC's who's the next in the chain of command here."
She responded while pointing to the man next to her. "He is."
Matteo's face fell gloomy. "You mean the guy having an emotional breakdown right here in front of a potential customer."
The man stopped crying and now looked at Matteo like he was a crazed man. "You do see what's around you right now, what do you even want to be a customer to exactly."
Matteo grinned wildly and responded. "Of course I want to be an investor in your bank here. How would you like a promotion." The were shocked.
Matteo had some speculations about what he was doing and he would be the first to attempt to invest in a rundown bank. If it worked the way he hoped in future he would be recieving some serious returns.
"What kind of investment?" The man asked.
Matteo smirked and continued. "I want to be a major investor in your establishment, in exchange I want returns."
Matteo had planned to cash in his 2000 gold coins to begin within but the contract he would be signing was much more harsh than he had expected. It was a three year long contract and it would cost him every coin he made for the first two years. On signing he was emptied dry of all his gold coins, Matteo ended up entering the bank somewhat rich and coming out greatly poor.
It sucked the souls out of him to find the bank attendants happy and he was well, miserable. Without coins he would not be able to purchase the most important item he would need being equipment. According to the contract any money he would make signing the first two years of the contract would be deposited automatically into the bank leaving him without a way to keep the money he earned in his own personal pockets.
Matteo looked at the evening sky and sighed, it would be time to head out soon and this time would be much more dangerous than the last. At night was when the predators were at large and he was flat broke to even buy any equipment, not that he needed any yet.
As Matteo walked he thought to himself. "Leo, I hope you didn't die yet."
