20. Night Hunting For Black Hound Wolves
As the night quickly came Teo had managed to bid himself a goodbye from his oppressor the dragon or by his actual name Ryan Hunt. He shook off the air that remained from their encounter and walked away from the town square.
As night came the players would have to find somewhere to spend the night, they could do this by paying for an hotel. In which case only had a few dozen rooms since the town on the first floor was still underdeveloped. The second option was by far the cheapest, sleep on the floor under the night sky.
Teo knew he might be having the second option since he did not have the money for a room at the moment. But he had other plans for the night, to go into the forest and kill as many beasts as he could to level up.
As he took his leave from the town of beginnings he stole one of the oil lamps that was hung up by the entrance to the town. It was something that spawned then when night fell and lit all by itself, Matteo simply took it and sniffed out the light. He did not want to end up being a moving target for everyone to see.
With the help of the stars in the sky as a light source he was able to make it into the forest. While he walked he did so as quietly as he could, his mind went over his plan once more.
The dragon was not just a rival to him, he was also a threat to his agenda. Matteo had a plan and the existence of the dragon or Ryan Hunt as he was called was a problem to that, there was something he coveted on the higher levels of Neon Solaris and The dragon also knew of it. This was a problem that needed fixing.
He knew the dragon was a special type of game addict, he had a strong mind and determination and would no doubt become one of the strongest players in the games. He was also the only one who could keep up with Noble Zero's initial rise and Matteo didn't not want that.
He wanted to win the only game that had deprived him from victory and he felt threatened by the existence of Ryan Hunt. He wanted him out of he way, even if that meant killing him but even Matteo was not sure if he could kill him. He had never killed a person before, also he had never killed a beast before but that worked out fine.
But would killing Ryan Hunt be easy, no, he surmised that it would be much harder than anything he had done so far. They were both swordsmen and Ryan seemed more athletic, also he was much bigger than he was. He needed to level up as much as he could and that was the purposes of this hunt.
Matteo took his mind off this thoughts as he reached the forest, he looked at the floors objective once more.
[1ST FLOOR STAGE]
[OBJECTIVE: FIND AND KILL THE FLOOR BOSS]
[STATUS: ONGOING]
[DIFFICULT: EASY]
[REWARD: 1000GC]
[TIME LIMIT: 7 DAYS]
Soon it would be six days remaining, he had no reason to partake in this event even if it would yield great benefits. Anyone who had played the game initially would know how easy it was to take down the boss on the first level, if he was playing behind a monitor he would have ended it on the very first day but the problem was still to get accustomed to how moving worked in this world.
If he was to estimated who would get to kill the beast first, it would be the dragon.
As he continued to walk a robotic voice sounded.
"A player has died!"
Matteo paused and guessed that someone must have had the same idea as he did to go out and get a few exp, and unfortunately that person did not end well. But fortunately for Matteo this told him he was close and he could not wait to thank the person for the heads up.
The walk deeper into the forest was starting to get dense with leaves that even the light of the stars and moon was failing to penetrate. It was as far as he chose to go for the night, there was no point fighting blind anyway.
[Notification: 73 out of 500 players have perished. The game master encourages you to try harder]
"You must be enjoying this aren't you?" He muttered to himself.
Matteo found himself a good spot, it was a small space surrounded by a number of tall branching trees. He did not want somewhere with enough space for the beast's to move the trees would actually as a type of defense and offense if he used it well.
Matteo set the small lantern in the middle of the small space and lit it. The lantern was a small rectangular case with class coverings and metal casing by its four corners. And a thin metal handle, he seems it down and went to hide behind a small bush, the light would attract a beast without a doubt, all he had to do was hide and finish them off one at a time. But he knew it would not be that easy.
A few seconds passed in silence but Matteo knew that they were there too, he could not sense them in anyway but he knew a small pack of black hound wolves had to be watching the light from a safe location and thinking the same thing.
Minutes passed in silence and he was beginning to feel numb from where he crouched. That was when he heard the the light sound of the snapping of a twig and his breath got caught of because the sound was from behind him.
